El japonés Naoya Inoue encaró una revancha ante el único boxeador que le había generado dificultades en su carrera, un Nonito Donaire con un demoledor rendimiento reciente, pero “Monster” sólo necesitó dos asaltos para noquear a su contrincante y unificar tres cinturones mundiales del peso gallo.

En el respaldo del Inoue-Donaire II, el hermano del primero, Takuma Inoue, logró coronarse campeón de Japón del peso supergallo derrotando en una exigente batalla a Gakuya Furuhashi, mientras que el titular de Japón del peso superligero Andy Hiraoka batió por KOT en el sexto round a Shun Akaiwa.

El peso semipesado Vasily Voytsekhovsky se llevó un buen susto a través de un duro knockdown en el primer asalto. Aun así, Voytsekhovsky se alzó de la lona y terminó derribando y derrotando por KOT en el quinto round al peligroso Gasan Gasanov.

Naoya Inoue no fue el único japonés que logró un triunfo mundialista en la semana, puesto que el campeón WBA del peso minimosca Hiroto Kyoguchi resolvió su defensa obligatoria ante Esteban Bermúdez batiendo a este púgil como visitante con un KOT en el octavo round. Ahora Kyoguchi es considerado número 1 de la división y apunta a una unificación.

En el combate coestelar del evento, el excelente pegador mexicano Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández se ganó un buen posicionamiento en los rankings del peso superpluma con una victoria en el primer asalto sobre el capaz Jorge David Castañeda.

Por último respecto a este evento, el peso supermedio Diego Pacheco superó su pelea de desarrollo ante Raúl Ortega en el quinto asalto, mientras que el peso gallo Jesús Martínez tuvo un exitoso debut venciendo a los puntos a Daniel Núñez.

Respecto a la velada de ShoBox: The New Generation, el peso pesado, oro olímpico, Bakhodir Jalolov 11(11KO)-0 continuó mostrando su potencial de éxitos, a la vez que siguió escalando hacia la cumbre, batiendo con un duro knockout en el octavo round al belga-congoleño Jack Mulowayi 11(7KO)-3(1)-1, que nunca había sido vencido antes del límite. Así, Jalolov quedó emplazado a un nuevo paso adelante en el último tercio de la temporada, posiblemente ante un veterano conocido o un púgil no muy lejano a las clasificaciones mundiales.
La pelea coestelar fue acordada en el peso puente, y en ella obtuvo un nuevo triunfo el dominicano George “Gentelman” Arias 18(7KO)-0, que venció al estadounidense Alante Green 10(7KO)-1-1 con una decisión dividida (78-74, 77-75 y 75-77) que muchos pensaron que debería haber sido unánime. De todos modos, Arias parece tener dificultades para impresionar a los jueces y deberá encontrar la forma de ser más determinante en sus acciones ofensivas antes de encarar pugnas cruciales.
En el restante choque de este evento, el peso ligero Tyler “Short Fuse” Tomlin 13(9KO)-1(1) padeció su primera derrota con un KOT en el quinto asalto ante el canadiense Chann Thonson 11(8KO)-0, quien probablemente reciba una oportunidad en una velada de PBC en el futuro próximo.
Terminando con el viernes, aunque no con el artículo:
-Demostrando una vez más su grado de dificultad, Nizar “The Bomber” Trimech 9(4KO)-3(1)-2 sacó un empate peleando en el país del invicto peso medio Ramadan Hiseni 15(5KO)-0-1. Así, Trimech se ganó una nueva oferta como test para un púgil con aspiraciones a la vez que Hiseni dejó muchas dudas sobre si está listo para perseguir el cinturón UE.
-La revancha del peso wélter entre los argentinos Yoel Alberto “El Chacal” Peralta 11(2KO)-1-1 y Christian Nicolás “El Elegante” Andino 16(2KO)-4(1)-1 terminó con una victoria por decisión dividida (98-92, 97-93 y 94-96) del primero, que ahora avanzará hacia pugnas ante rivales de mayor nivel en el circuito de su país.

Enfrentándose a un púgil lento y frontal, se suponía que el peso supermedio Edgar Berlanga no tendría problemas para usar su pegada, pero éste decidió apoyarse en un boxeo dinámico que resultó ineficaz y con el que sólo venció de forma controvertida al exretador mundial Roamer Angulo. Además, Berlanga dinamitó el poco prestigio que le quedaba mordiendo a su rival.

En cuanto al excampeón mundial Jaime Munguia, este recibió golpes claros y erró manos durante cuatro rounds, pero en el quinto encontró la forma de imponer su potencia y batir a Jimmy “Kilrain” Kelly.

Pasando al enfrentamiento entre Trevor Bryan y Daniel Dubois, el segundo cumplió con lo previsto y se impuso por knockout en el cuarto asalto a su oponente. Así, en teoría Dubois es aspirante de Usyk y deberá encarar una pelea ante el ganador del Michael Hunter vs. Hughie Fury para certificar su posición.

Así, Riakporhe pasó a ocupar el segundo puesto en el ranking IBF (el primero está vacante) y empezó a demostrar sobre el ring parte de las buenas cosas que se decían de él en el pasado y que terminaron olvidándose por actuaciones nada convincentes.
En el respaldo, Zak Chelli 12(6KO)-1-1 se proclamó campeón de Inglaterra del peso supermedio, y aspirante al título británico que posee Lennox Clarke, venciendo por decisión unánime (98-92, 98-93 y 97-94) a Germaine Brown 12(3KO)-1 y el peso wélter Chris Congo 14(7KO)-1 sumó su segundo triunfo desde su derrota ante Michael McKinson venciendo a Sebastian Formella 23(11KO)-3 por decisión unánime (98-92, 97-93 y 97-94).
La restante velada destacada del sábado concluyó con una victoria por KOT en el quinto asalto del peso medio kazajo Meirim Nursultanov 17(10KO)-0 sobre el argentino Sebastián Horacio Papeschi 18(6KO)-4(2), logrando un título menor WBO que debería mejorar su posicionamiento de 12º en este organismo. Por otro lado, el peso superpluma Bekman Soylybayev 14(5KO)-1 venció por amplia decisión unánime al mexicano Tomás “Gusano” Rojas 52(34KO)-21(5)-1. -El peso superligero australiano Steve “The Viking” Spark 15(14KO)-2(1) logró su mayor victoria hasta la fecha con un KOT en el tercer round ante el exaspirante mundial Apinun Khongsong 18(15KO)-2(2), llevando a tres su cadena de triunfos desde su derrota ante Tim Tszyu.
-La revancha entre los peso superwélter sudafricanos Brandon Thysse 14(12KO)-3(1)-1 y Roarke Knapp 14(11KO)-1(1)-1 dejó una victoria dividida (116-112, 115-114 y 113-115) del segundo, que así se puso 1-1 con este rival y capturó el cinturón de campeón de África.
-El peso wélter estadounidense Peter Dobson 16(9KO)-0 se mantuvo invicto venciendo por decisión unánime al argentino Rodrigo Damián Coria 10(2KO)-4, y en el futuro próximo encarará una prueba de fuego para apoyar sus aspiraciones.
-La titular de Sudamérica del peso supergallo Marianela Ramírez 10(4KO)-7-2 retuvo su cinturón con una amplia victoria unánime (triple 98-90) sobre la experimentada Laura Griffa 18(1KO)-6.
-La peso superligero Victoire Piteau 9(2KO)-2 no consiguió el decisivo triunfo que buscaba, sino que sufrió una derrota por decisión mayoritaria (95-95, 96-94 y 97-93) a manos de la exaspirante mundial Magalí Rodríguez 20(9KO)-6(2)-2, quien ahora debería acceder a un combate ante una rival de la cumbre de la división.

The Japanese Naoya Inoue faced a rematch against the only rival who had caused him difficulties in his career, a fighter with devastating recent performances, the Filipino Nonito Donaire. In support of the fight Inoue-Donaire II, Naoya’s brother, Takuma Inoue, was crowned Japanese super bantamweight champion by defeating Gakuya Furuhashi in a demanding battle, while Japanese super lightweight titleholder Andy Hiraoka beat by TKO in the sixth round Shun Akaiwa. Light heavyweight Vasily Voytsekhovsky got quite a scare through a hard knockdown in the first round. Still, Voytsekhovsky rose from the canvas and ended up dropping and beating by TKO in the fifth round the dangerous Gasan Gasanov. Read more following the link.
Also in this event, the unbeaten super lightweight Oganes Ustyan used his prowess to counter Radik Grigoryan’s agressivness for a well-deserved decision win. Read more following the link.

Naoya Inoue was not the only Japanese boxer to achieve a world championship victory in the week, since the WBA light flyweight world titlist Hiroto Kyoguchi won on the road his mandatory defense against Esteban Bermudez with a TKO in the eighth round. Now Kyoguchi is considered number 1 in the division and is aiming for a unification. Read more following the link.
In the co-main event of the evening, the excellent Mexican puncher Eduardo «Rocky» Hernandez earned a good position in the super featherweight rankings with a first-round victory over the capable Jorge David Castañeda. Read more following the link.
This clash was preceded by a great performance by the WBA world female super bantamweight champion Mayerlín Rivas, who used her explosiveness countering to obtain a triumph by TKO in the fourth round over Karina Fernández. Read more following the link.
In the beginning of the main card of this bill, super middleweight Diego Pacheco won his development fight against Raúl Ortega in the fifth round, while bantamweight Jesús Martínez had a successful professional debut beating Daniel Núñez on points. Read more following the link.
As for the ShoBox: The New Generation event, the heavyweight, Olympic gold medalist, Bakhodir Jalolov 11(11KO)-0 continued to show his potential, and kept climbing to the top, with a hard knockout in the eighth round over Belgian-Congolese Jack Mulowayi 11(7KO)-3(1)-1, who had never been beaten by stoppage. Thus, Jalolov is set to a new step forward in the last third of the season, possibly against a well-known veteran or a fighter not far from the world rankings.
The co-main match was at bridgerweight. In it the Dominican George «Gentelman» Arias 18(7KO)-0 obtained a new victory defeating the American Alante Green 10(7KO)-1-1 with a split decision ( 78-74, 77-75 and 75-77) that many thought should have been unanimous. Still, Arias seems to have difficulties impressing the judges and will have to find a way to be more decisive in his actions before facing crucial fights.
In the opening bout, lightweight Tyler “Short Fuse” Tomlin 13(9KO)-1(1) suffered his first loss with a TKO in the fifth round against Canadian Chann Thonson 11(8KO)-0, who will probably receive a chance at a PBC evening in the near future.
Ending Friday’s results, though not the article:
-Proving once again how tricky he is, Nizar “The Bomber” Trimech 9(4KO)-3(1)-2 achieved a draw fighting in the country of undefeated middleweight Ramadan Hiseni 15 (5KO)-0-1. Thus, Trimech earned a new offer as a test for a fighter with aspirations, while Hiseni generated many doubts about whether he is ready to fight for the EU belt.
-The welterweight rematch between Argentinians Yoel Alberto “El Chacal” Peralta 11(2KO)-1-1 and Christian Nicolás “El Elegante” Andino 16(2KO)-4(1)-1 ended with a split decision victory (98 -92, 97-93 and 94-96) of the former, who will now move on to fight against higher-level rivals on his country’s scene.

Facing a slow and frontal fighter, it was supposed that super middleweight Edgar Berlanga will not have problems using his punch, but he decided to rely on a mobile boxing that proved ineffective and with which he only controversially beat former world title challenger Roamer Angulo. As for former world champion Jaime Munguia, he took clean shots and missed hands for four rounds, but in the fifth he found a way to use his power to beat Jimmy “Kilrain” Kelly. Read more following the link.

On that same day, also in the United Kingdom, Richard Riakporhe 15(11KO)-0 won a cruiserweight eliminator with a second round TKO over Fabio “Stone Crusher” Turchi 20(14KO)-2(1). Now Riakporhe will be placed as second in the IBF ranking (the first place is vacant) while he begins to prove part of the good things that were said about him in the past and that ended up being forgotten due his unconvincing performances.
In the undercard, Zak Chelli 12(6KO)-1-1 conquered the English super middleweight title, and will fight for the British belt held by Lennox Clarke, defeating by unanimous decision (98-92, 98-93 and 97-94) Germaine Brown 12(3KO)-1. Also, welterweight Chris Congo 14(7KO)-1 obtained his second consecutive win (since his loss to Michael McKinson) beating Sebastian Formella 23(11KO)-3 by unanimous decision (98-92, 97 -93 and 97-94).
Saturday’s remaining important evening concluded with a fifth-round TKO victory of the Kazakh middleweight Meirim Nursultanov 17(10KO)-0 over the Argentinian Sebastian Horacio Papeschi 18(6KO)-4(2), capturing a minor WBO title that should improve his ranking (he is 12th WBO).
