Los dos pesos superligeros canadienses que combatieron el jueves lograron victorias en las que superaron las expectativas con sus rendimientos ante peligrosos oponentes. Por un lado, Yves Ulysse Jr. 22(12KO)-2 logró un triunfo por decisión unánime (triple 97-93) ante el mexicano José “El Increíble” Macías 15(7KO)-2-2. Por el otro, Steve Claggett 33(23KO)-7(1)-2 batió por KOT en el cuarto asalto a Jonathan “El Potro” Eniz 30(13KO)-18(5)-1. De ese modo, tanto Ulysse como Claggett llevaron a cuatro su racha de victorias y se emplazaron a un combate decisivo en el que intentar reaparecer en las listas, duelo que perfectamente podría ser un nuevo combate entre ambos que cierre una trilogía (de momento están 1 a 1).
En cuanto al peso supermosca sudafricano Sikho Nqothole 16(10KO)-2(1), éste venció por amplísima decisión unánime (doble 120-106 y un 119-107) al filipino Denmark “Tornado” Quibido 12(7KO)-1-1. Por ello, la próxima irrupción de Nqothole en el ranking WBO se producirá en un momento en el que tiene la moral alta y quizás esté entrando en el pico de rendimiento de su carrera.
Viernes 28 de octubre
El olímpico italiano, peso pesado, Guido “The Gladiator” Vianello logró una amplia victoria por decisión unánime sobre el británico Jay “The Ghost” McFarlane en el combate estelar de una velada de OPI y Top Rank desde Italia. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
En el choque coestelar de este mismo evento, el prometedor peso superwélter italiano Mirko “Terminator” Natalizi puso fin a las buenas actuaciones consecutivas en Italia del británico Tony Dixon batiéndole por KOT en el quinto asalto y emplazándose a un paso adelante. La campeona de Europa del peso supermosca, la italiana Stephanie Silva, retuvo su corona ante la invicta polaca Ewelina Pekalska, que comenzó la pelea con buen pie pero que terminó siendo derrotada por decisión unánime. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Finalmente en cuanto a este cartel, el pegador Francesco Russo se proclamó campeón de Italia del peso superwélter venciendo por KOT en el octavo episodio a Francesco Sarchioto y el peso superligero Armando Casamonica venció la revancha ante Mauro Loli. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Pasando al evento argentino, los tres favoritos salieron con el brazo en alto, estando entre ellos la monarca mundial WBA del peso supermosca, la argentina Clara Lescurat 8(3KO)-0, que venció por decisión unánime (doble 99-91 y un 98-92) a la mexicana Naylea “La Niña” Gil 11(5KO)-5(1)-1. Teniendo en cuenta su limitada experiencia profesional, no parece lo más conveniente que Lescurat apunte ya a unificaciones, pero necesita urgentemente expandir su bagaje de calidad con peleas de nivel antes de que le llegue un reto para el que no esté preparada.
En cuanto a los otros dos choques de la cartelera, el peso wélter José “Sansón” Rosa 17(13KO)-0 venció de forma menos amplia de lo esperado (decisión unánime, doble 96-94 y un 97-93) a Leandro “Huracán” Fonseca 14(6KO)-1-1 y parece que su evolución se ha estancado un tanto, mientras que el peso supermosca Junior Leandro “El Demonio” Zárate 18(7KO)-4 protegió su posición en la lista WBO y quedó preparado para una pelea importante venciendo por decisión unánime (80-72, 79-73 y 78-74) al mexicano Carlos Vado Bautista 9(2KO)-7(1)-1.
Finalmente respecto al viernes, cabe mencionar que la exmonarca mundial mexicana Kenia Enríquez 25(11KO)-1 sólo necesitó dos asaltos para batir a una Nora Cardoza 16(7KO)-10(2)-1 normalmente competente y resistente pero que esta vez se mostró quebradiza y desmotivada. En cualquier caso, esto no cambia el hecho de que con una racha de 12 victorias y triunfos ante rivales como Jéssica Nery Plata, Katia Gutiérrez o María Salinas, Enríquez ha hecho muchos más méritos para alcanzar un mundial que numerosas púgiles que han accedido a peleas titulares antes que ella en los últimos años.

En su combate de preparación antes del choque por el título indiscutido del peso ligero ante Devin Haney, Vasily Lomachenko no ofreció su mejor actuación y tuvo que aplicarse ante un Jamaine Ortiz que hizo todo lo que estuvo en su mano para intentar evitar la derrota. En el semifondo, el peso pluma, doble oro olímpico cubano, Robeisy Ramírez continuó mostrando su drásticamente incrementada potencia derribando y batiendo por KOT en el noveno asalto al argentino José Matías Romero. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
También en el respaldo del evento Lomachenko-Ortiz, el peso pesado, plata olímpico, Richard Torrez Jr. vapuleó durante tres asaltos a Ahmed Hefny en otro combate demasiado fácil para su nivel. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Otro plata olímpico estadounidense, el peso pluma Duke Ragan, no lo tuvo ni mucho menos tan fácil en su victoria unánime sobre Luis Lebrón, que le obligó a trabajar e incluso le llegó a estremecer. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Cambiando de evento, la velada de Matchroom Boxing se cerró con la campeona indiscutida del peso ligero Katie Taylor ofreciendo una muestra de su nivel técnico para vencer ampliamente a Karen Carabajal. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.

En la cartelera de Golden Boy Promotions, el invicto peso ligero William “Camarón” Zepeda 27(23KO)-0 se apoyó en una enorme cadencia de golpes y logró una amplia victoria por decisión unánime (doble 119-109 y un 118-110) sobre el excampeón Joseph “Jo Jo” Díaz 32(15KO)-3-1. Este resultado tendrá grandes consecuencias para ambos, puesto que Zepeda al ganar esta eliminatoria quedará emplazado a una importantísima pelea, mientras que la crisis deportiva/personal de Díaz continuará empeorando.
En el respaldo de este choque, los boxeadores que la promotora quería que ganasen, ganaron, algunos de ellos con controversia. La monarca mundial IBF del peso mosca Leonela Yúdica 18(1KO)-1-3 sufrió la primera derrota de su carrera con una decisión dividida (96-94, 94-96 y 93-97) ante Arely Muciño 33(11KO)-3(1)-2, quien seguramente ahora unificará con Marlen Esparza. El peso wélter Alexis Rocha 21(13KO)-1 venció de forma unánime (100-89, 100-90 y 99-91) su rodaje ante Jesús Antonio Pérez 24(18KO)-4. Y el peso supergallo Héctor Valdez 16(8KO)-0 se impuso por decisión dividida (doble 97-93 y un 93-97) a Max Ornelas 15(5KO)-1-1.
El peso crucero polaco Mateusz “Master” Masternak 47(31KO)-5(1) finalmente se aseguró disputar el primer campeonato mundial de su carrera venciendo por decisión unánime (119-108, 118-109 y 117-110) una eliminatoria final IBF ante el australiano Jason Whateley 10(9KO)-1. El actual monarca de la división en la Federación es Jai Opetaia, quien destronó a Mairis Briedis, por lo que parece que ambos púgiles podrían ofrecer un muy interesante campeonato mundial en 2023.

-La campeona mundial WBC del peso supergallo Yamileth “Yeimi” Mercado 20(5KO)-3 derrotó por decisión unánime (98-92 y doble 97-93) a la veterana excampeona Mariana “Barbie” Juárez 55(19KO)-12(3)-4.
-El peso crucero Aleksei Papin 15(14KO)-1 logró un triunfo por KOT en el segundo asalto sobre el bosnio Damir Beljo 26(21KO)-1(1), que protestó que el árbitro se precipitó al detener el choque.
–Jordy Weiss 30(3KO)-0 se impuso por decisión unánime (triple 97-93) a Meriton Karaxha 29(10KO)-7-3 y ahora debería tener que encarar un campeonato de Europa del peso wélter ante Jon Míguez.
–Jhon Jader Obregón 11(5KO)-0 se proclamó campeón de España del peso medio capturando el cinto vacante con un KOT en el segundo asalto ante Fernando Jaquero 7(3KO)-1(1).
-El exretador mundial Reymart “Assassin” Gaballo 25(21KO)-1(1) sumó su primer triunfo desde su derrota ante Nonito Donaire batiendo por KOT en el segundo asalto a Ricardo “Smiley” Sueño 11(4KO)-7(3)-4.

Thursday, October 27
The two Canadian super lightweights who faced fights on Thursday scored victories in which they exceeded expectations with their performances against dangerous opponents. On the one hand, Yves Ulysse Jr. 22(12KO)-2 beat by unanimous decision (triple 97-93) the Mexican José «El Incredible» Macías 15(7KO)-2-2. On the other hand, Steve Claggett 33(23KO)-7(1)-2 defeated Jonathan «El Potro» Eniz 30(13KO)-18(5)-1 by TKO in the fourth round. In this way, both Ulysse and Claggett took their winning streak to four and are set to fight in a decisive match in which try to reappear on the rankings, a duel that could perfectly be a new bout between the two that closes a trilogy (for the moment the score of their competition is 1-1).
As for the South African super flyweight Sikho Nqothole 16(10KO)-2(1), he won by very wide unanimous decision (double 120-106 and a 119-107) his fight against the Filipino Denmark «Tornado» Quibido 12(7KO)-1-1. In that way, Nqothole’s access to the WBO rankings will come at a time when he is highly motivated and perhaps he is entering his peak.

Moving on to the event from Argentina, the three favorites came out with their arms raised. One of them was the WBA super flyweight champion Clara Lescurat 8(3KO)-0, who defeated by unanimous decision (double 99-91 and a 98 -92) the Mexican Naylea «La Niña» Gil 11(5KO)-5(1)-1. Considering her still short professional career, it doesn’t seem the most convenient for Lescurat to target unifications for the moment, but she urgently needs to gain quality experience with challenging fights before having to face a bout for which she might not be prepared.
As for the other two matches on the card, welterweight José “Sansón” Rosa 17(13KO)-0 defeated Leandro “Huracán” Fonseca 14(6KO)-1-1 with a closer margin than expected (unanimous decision, double 96-94 and a 97-93) and it seems that his evolution has stalled a bit, while super flyweight Junior “El Demonio” Zárate 18(7KO)-4 protected his position on the WBO list defeating Mexican Carlos Vado Bautista 9(2KO)-7(1)-1 by unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73 and 78-74).
Lastly regarding Friday, it is worth mentioning that Mexican former world champion Kenia Enríquez 25(11KO)-1 only needed two rounds to beat Nora Cardoza 16(7KO)-10(2)-1, normally a boxer resistant and competent but who this time was chinny and unmotivated. In any case, this does not change the fact that with a streak of 12 victories and wins over opponents such as Jéssica Nery Plata, Katia Gutiérrez or María Salinas, Enríquez has done much more to deserve a world championship than numerous boxers who have accessed to title fights before her in recent years.

In his preparation fight before the clash for the undisputed lightweight title against Devin Haney, Vasily Lomachenko did not offer his best performance and had to apply himself against Jamaine Ortiz, who did everything in his power to try to avoid the defeat.
