No se esperaba que la irlandesa Katie Taylor 22(6KO)-0 tuviese grandes dificultades ante la argentina Karen Elizabeth “La Burbuja” Carabajal 19(2KO)-1 y efectivamente la monarca no las tuvo, obteniendo una amplia victoria por decisión unánime de los jueces. Las tarjetas fueron de 100-91, 99-91 y 98-92.
La diferencia en velocidad, técnica, astucia y experiencia de Taylor le permitieron empezar a decantar la pelea de su lado desde temprano en el choque, ya que pudo llegar con su preciso jab, con hábiles ganchos zurdos y con contras saliendo de la línea de ataque. Viendo que en una pelea táctica no podía equipararse a su contrincante, Carabajal hizo lo correcto e intentó poner presión y explotar su alcance a través de algunos agresivos ataques, llegando con algún buen directo. Pero Taylor no se dejó abrumar, sino que se reposicionó bien, contragolpeó aún mejor aguantando el terreno e incluso lanzó contraofensivas con certeros hooks.
La brava visitante no se rindió ante la adversidad, sino que continuó intentando avanzar y atacar con tesón, pero Taylor replicó sobre los puños de su adversaria con maestría con directos y ganchos, llevándose la mejor parte en los intercambios. Además, en la distancia larga desplegó grandes acciones elusivas que hicieron a Carabajal golpear el aire antes de recibir excelentes directos de francotirador. En definitiva, se preveía que Taylor iba a poder brillar ante sus fans demostrando su calidad y efectivamente la irlandesa estuvo a la altura de lo esperado y ofreció una de sus mejores actuaciones desde que es titular indiscutida.
Respecto al futuro próximo de Taylor se han dicho muchas cosas, como que podría encabezar una gran velada en Irlanda próximamente, que podría encarar en unos meses una revancha ante Amanda Serrano, que podría pelear contra la ganadora del McCaskill-Cameron o incluso que se podría medir a una luchadora de artes marciales mixtas. Sea como sea, en principio en 2023 le espera una pelea con una enorme bolsa y que la seguirá manteniendo bajo los grandes focos del boxeo internacional.

It was not expected that the Irish Katie Taylor 22(6KO)-0 would have great difficulties against the Argentinian Karen Elizabeth «La Burbuja» Carabajal 19(2KO)-1, and indeed the champion did not have much issues dealing with this opponent and obtaining a wide victory by unanimous decision of the judges. The scorecards were 100-91, 99-91 and 98-92.
Taylor’s advantage in speed, technique, astuteness, and experience allowed her to start effectively in the match, as she was able to land precise jabs, skillful left hooks and counters coming out of the line of attack of her opponent. Aware that in a tactical fight she couldn’t match the champion, Carabajal did the right thing and tried to put pressure and exploit her range through some aggressive attacks, connecting some good straight shots. But Taylor wasn’t overwhelmed, and she repositioned well, counterpunched even better holding her ground and she even threw counteroffensives with accurate hooks.
The brave visitor did not give up in the face of adversity, but continued to try to advance and attack with determination. However,Taylor replied the hands of her opponent masterfully with straight hands and hooks, having better results in the exchanges. Additionally, at long range she offered great elusive actions that made Carabajal punch the air before receiving some excellent sharpshooter hands. In short, Taylor was supposed to shine in front of her fans and to demonstrate her quality and indeed the Irishwoman lived up to expectations and offered one of her best performances since she became undisputed titlist.
Regarding Taylor’s near future, many things have been said, such as that she could headline a great evening in Ireland soon, that she could face a rematch with Amanda Serrano in a few months, that she could fight against the winner of the McCaskill-Cameron fight or even that she could clash against a mixed martial arts fighter. Be that as it may, a huge purse awaits Taylor in 2023 and she will continue in the spotlight of international boxing.
