Viernes 9 de diciembre
El invicto peso supermedio cubano Osleys Iglesias pasó con nota su test ante el ucraniano Andrii Velikovskyi, poniendo de manifiesto nuevamente que tiene un futuro muy prometedor en el boxeo profesional. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Muy diferente es la situación del veterano excampeón mundial Austin Trout, cuyo rendimiento ha decrecido mucho pero que, intentando acercarse a una última gran pelea, continuó su racha de victorias ante oponentes lejanos al top 15 venciendo por clara decisión unánime su duelo ante José Sánchez. El viernes también se produjeron estos otros resultados:
-El importante choque para las carreras del australiano Billel Dib 26(13KO)-4(1) y el nicaragüense Francisco Fonseca 31(25KO)-3(2)-2 terminó con el segundo logrando, como visitante, un KOT en el segundo round. Así, Fonseca afianzará y mejorará su posición en los rankings oficiales del peso superpluma y Dib, que padeció con esta su primera derrota antes del límite, recibió un definitivo revés a sus aspiraciones internacionales.
-El prospecto estadounidense del peso superligero Shinard Bunch 20(16KO)-1-1 ganó por decisión unánime (98-90, 97-91 y 95-93) su prueba ante el correoso Henry Lundy 31(14KO)-12(3)-1 aunque, militando en una división tan exigente, le queda mucho trabajo de desarrollo y evolución por delante antes de estar listo para la cumbre.
-El sudafricano, extitular mundial del peso mínimo, DeeJay “For Real” Kriel 17(8KO)-2(1)-1 regresó a la actividad tras su largo parón con una victoria sobre su compatriota Thembelani Nxoshe 19(6KO)-10-2, si bien tuvo un combate incluso más duro de lo esperado y sólo pudo imponerse por decisión mayoritaria (76-76, 77-75 y 78-74).
Sábado 10 de diciembre
El campeón mundial WBO del peso wélter estadounidense Terence Crawford superó su combate ante el ruso David Avanesyan con un espectacular knockout en el sexto round, por lo que ahora sólo queda esperar que, de una vez por todas, pacte una unificación con Errol Spence. El cinturón de campeón IBF del peso pluma cambió de dueño, ya que el británico Josh Warrington, pese a recurrir a una miríada de acciones antirreglamentarias, fue superado por el contundente mexicano Luis Alberto “Venado” López, nuevo titular mundial. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
La cartelera principal también contó con un triunfo por KOT de la titular IBF del peso gallo de la australiana Ebanie Bridges ante su compatriota Shannon O’Connell, que podría ser sucedido por una unificación ante Nina Hughes, y con una poco convincente victoria del peso medio británico Felix Cash ante el portugués Celso Neves. Respecto al evento de Top Rank, la eliminatoria del peso superligero entre el estadounidense Teófimo López y el español Sandor Martín terminó con una victoria por decisión dividida del primero que ha generado mucha controversia, si bien su triunfo resultó perfectamente viable por la falta de golpes de su rival. -La campeona mundial WBC del peso mínimo, la alemana Tina Rupprecht 12(3KO)-0-1, derrotó por decisión unánime (99-91, 98-92 y 97-93) a la peruana Rocío Gaspar 12(3KO)-2, aunque partiría por detrás en las apuestas en posibles unificaciones ante Seniesa Estrada y Yokasta Valle, y el superwélter Slawa Spomer 17(8KO)-0 venció por decisión (99-91, 99-91, 98-92) su rodaje ante Egzon Maliqaj 11(7KO)-1-1.
-El superwélter sudafricano Roarke Knapp 14(11KO)-1(1)-1 continuó la mejor racha de su carrera superando por decisión unánime (97-92, 97-92 y 96-93) al mexicano Dante “Crazy” Jardón 35(25KO)-9(5) y en 2023 le espera su mayor pugna hasta la fecha. En cuanto al choque del peso crucero entre Akani Phuzi 13(6KO)-2 y Johnny Muller 23(14KO)-10(4)-2, Phuzi logró su primer triunfo en la trilogía de combates contra este rival con una decisión unánime (96-94, 96-93 y 98-97).
Domingo 11 de diciembre
El evento de RCC Boxing ofreció un duelo del peso ligero en el que el exmonarca mundial Jorge Linares sufrió una nueva derrota, en esta ocasión a manos de Zhora Hamazaryan, mientras que el oro olímpico Evgeny Tishchenko derribó dos veces y venció al exaspirante mundial crucero Artur Mann. -El campeón mundial en tres divisiones Kosei Tanaka 18(10KO)-1(1) superó por decisión unánime (98-92, 97-93, 97-93) al sudafricano Yanga Sigqibo 17(5KO)-1-1 y quedó muy cerca de un mundial del peso supermosca.
-El peso superligero kazajo Zhankosh Turarov 26(19KO)-0 acabó con la racha de triunfos contra pronóstico del venezolano Luis Enrique Romero 11(7KO)-6(2)-1 derrotándole por KOT en el séptimo asalto. Turarov apuntará a pruebas de fuego en 2023.
-El exaspirnate mundial japonés Sho Ishida 32(16KO)-3 siguió alejándose de su tropiezo ante Kosei Tanaka venciendo de forma unánime (triple 80-72) un duelo del peso gallo ante el filipino Ronnie Baldonado 15(9KO)-4(2)-1 y en futuras actualizaciones podría quedar bien ranqueado en tres de los organismos.

Undefeated Cuban super middleweight Osleys Iglesias passed his test against the Ukrainian Andrii Velikovskyi with flying colors, once again showing that he has a very promising future in professional boxing. Read more following the link.
Very different is the situation of the veteran former world champion Austin Trout, who is faded but, trying to get closer to one last big fight, extended his winning streak against opponents far from the top 15 level beating José Sánchez by clear unanimous decision. Read more following the link.

-The important clash for the careers of Australian Billel Dib 26(13KO)-4(1) and Nicaraguan Francisco Fonseca 31(25KO)-3(2)-2 ended with the latter scoring, as a visitor, a second round TKO. Thus, Fonseca will consolidate and improve his position in the official super featherweight rankings and Dib, who suffered with this his first stoppage, received a definitive blow to his international aspirations.

American WBO world welterweight champion Terence Crawford won his fight against the Russian David Avanesyan with a spectacular knockout in the sixth round, so now it only remains to hope that, once and for all, an agreement is reached for a unification against Errol Spence. IBF world featherweight belt changed hands, as Briton Josh Warrington, despite resorting to a myriad of illegal actions, was outpowered by forceful Mexican Luis Alberto “Venado” López, now the new IBF world titleholder. Read more following the link.
The main card also featured a TKO win for Australian IBF world bantamweight titleholder Ebanie Bridges over fellow Australian Shannon O’Connell, which could be followed by a unification against Nina Hughes, and an unconvincing win for British middleweight Felix Cash over Portuguese Celso Neves. Regarding the Top Rank event, the super lightweight eliminator between American Teófimo López and Spaniard Sandor Martín ended with a split decision victory for the former. The result has generated a lot of controversy, although López’s victory was perfectly possible due to his opponent’s lack of punches. The RCC Boxing event offered a lightweight duel in which former world champion Jorge Linares suffered a new defeat, this time at the hands of Zhora Hamazaryan, while Olympic gold medalist Evgeny Tishchenko knocked down and defeated former cruiserweight challenger Artur Mann.
