Terence Crawford noqueó en el sexto asalto a David Avanesyan

Con un espectacular knockout en el sexto asalto, el estadounidense Terence Crawford 39(30KO)-0 superó su combate ante el enrachado ruso David Avanesyan 29(17KO)-4(2)-1, que además de toparse esta vez con el mejor oponente que ha tenido delante sobre un ring, no tuvo tampoco la actitud de otras de sus pugnas.
Aunque Avanesyan ha desplegado recientemente ofensivas furiosas e incontenibles, en esta ocasión se mostró más comedido inicialmente, manteniéndose en gran parte en la distancia media. Así, en lugar de presionar con intensidad a Crawford cuando es más “vulnerable”, es decir en sus flojos primeros rounds antes de que cambie de marcha, dudó demasiado al entrar, permitiendo que el campeón le alcanzase con sus jabs, sus directos, sus uno-dos, sus ganchos arriba y abajo, sus uppercuts, etc.
Con el paso de los minutos “Ava” empezó a acortar más los espacios, pero aunque conectó algún buen hook o directo aquí o allá, incluso en la distancia corta escogió mucho sus manos mientras mantenía su guardia alta y cerrada, lo que permitió al hábil Crawford soltar sus manos con frecuencia para mantenerlo a raya o reposicionarse. Finalmente, cuando el retador empezó a atacar con más determinación de forma constante logró más éxitos sostenidos, pero ya era tarde, puesto que Crawford ya había desplegado su boxeo.
Por ello, “Bud” fue conectando cada vez más manos muy amenazantes hasta que, respondiendo a un jab, impactó un directo zurdo enlazado con curvo diestro que arrojó a Avanesyan de espaldas al tapiz sin posibilidad de continuar.
Dado que el contrato de Crawford con BLK Prime sólo era de un único combate de duración, ahora el boxeador es libre para volver a negociar con Errol Spence. Sin embargo, habrá que esperar a conocer si Spence ha sufrido algún tipo de daño, aunque sea leve, en un accidente de tráfico que padeció hace unas horas para saber si el choque por el cinturón indiscutido del peso wélter se verá aplazado una vez más incluso antes de que vuelva a la mesa de negociaciones.

With a spectacular knockout in the sixth round, the American Terence Crawford 39(30KO)-0 won his bout against the Russian David Avanesyan 29(17KO)-4(2)-1, who in addition to facing the best opponent of his career, he did not have the same attitude than in his other recent fights.
Although in his latest bouts Avanesyan has charged in furious and irrepressible offenses, this time he was more contained initially, staying largely at mid range. Thus, instead of pressing Crawford intensely when he is most «vulnerable», that is his weak first rounds before he changes gears, he hesitated too much before attacking, allowing the champion to hit him with his jabs, straight hands, one-two, hooks up and down, uppercuts, etc.
As the minutes passed, “Ava” began to shorten the spaces more, but although he landed some good hooks or straight hands here or there, even in the short distance he selected his shots too much while keeping his guard high and closed, which allowed the skillful Crawford to throw frequent hands to keep him at bay or reposition himself. Finally, when the challenger began to attack with more determination on a consistent basis, he achieved more sustained success, but it was too late, since Crawford had already displayed all his boxing abilty.
For this reason, «Bud» started connecting more and more threatening punches until, responding to a jab, he landed a left hand-right hook combination dropped hard Avanesyan and closed the fight.
Since Crawford’s contract with BLK Prime was only for a single fight, the boxer is now free to re-negotiate with Errol Spence. However, we will have to wait to know if Spence has suffered any type of damage, even if slight, in a traffic accident he had a few hours ago to find out if the clash for the undisputed welterweight belt will be postponed once again even before it coming back to the negotiating table.
