La campeona mundial WBA del peso superpluma Hyun Mi Choi continuó su larguísimo y muy deslucido reinado con una ajustada victoria por decisión ante Vanessa Bradford, combate que puso de manifiesto claramente una vez más que la monarca no tendría posibilidades de éxito en una unificación. También el miércoles, el veterano peso semipesado Karo Murad afrontó la primera pelea de su trayectoria en su país natal, Armenia. Su oponente Norbert Dabrowski ofreció un meritorio esfuerzo y tuvo sus momentos, pero fue derribado tres veces y batido por KOT en el último asalto por un Murad que acabó la pelea completamente exhausto. Jueves 20 de octubre
En un combate deliberadamente muy mal emparejado y que cumplió el objetivo marcado por la promotora, el prospecto del peso ligero Floyd Schofield acabó en menos de dos minutos con el muy venido a menos Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Pasando a la velada japonesa del jueves, el campeón nacional japonés del peso gallo Seiya Tsutsumi 7(6KO)-0-2 logró retener su cinturón ante un bravo Kenshin Oshima 7(3KO)-3(1)-1, que plantó cara y ajustó las cartulinas pero que terminó padeciendo la primera derrota antes del límite de su carrera con un KOT en el noveno round. Quizás el pegador Tsutsumi pueda escalar algún puesto en el ranking IBF, en el que es 12º, pero en lugar de seguir la ruta hacia el mundial debería pensar primero en intentar capturar el cinturón de ámbito continental OPBF que posee Kai Chiba, ante el que podría tener un muy interesante choque.
Respecto al respaldo, el peso mosca Jukiya Iimura 3(1KO)-1(1) pagó el precio de su excesiva prisa en su avance como profesional y fue derrotado por KOT en el sexto asalto por el filipino Esneth Domingo 17(9KO)-2, púgil de 23 años que logró así una valiosa victoria que le ayudará a perseguir sus objetivos en la división del peso mosca.
Viernes 21 de octubre
Respecto al evento de ShoBox: The New Generation, éste dejó un resultado contra pronóstico, puesto que el imbatido prospecto del peso supermedio estadounidense Isaiah Steen fue derrotado por decisión unánime a manos del remplazo tardío ghanés Sena Agbeko. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
También fue sorprendente lo sucedido en el campeonato de Europa del peso gallo femenino, puesto que la invicta titular Delphine Mancini, tras lograr la mayor victoria de su carrera, fue vencida por clara decisión unánime a manos de la piedra de toque Mailys Gangloff, que combatió con mucha agresividad. Por otro lado, el peso superpluma George Acosta finalmente no pudo combatir el viernes por baja de su contrincante José Angulo. Con todo, sí combatieron Sean Brewer, Leonardo Sánchez y Ioannis Manouilidis, que obtuvieron amplias victorias. Crónica y vídeo del evento siguiendo el link.
El viernes también se produjeron estos combates:
-El argentino Sebastian Horacio Papeschi 19(7KO)-4(2) regresó a la senda del triunfo y se proclamó campeón de Sudamérica del peso semipesado venciendo por KOT en el octavo round a Jairo Ariel Rayman 17(8KO)-3(1)-1.
–Diego Natchoo 24(7KO)-3-5 recuperó su título de campeón de Francia del peso medio, cerca de dos años después de perderlo, asestándole la primera derrota antes del límite de su carrera a Moughit El Moutaouakil 18(10KO)-3(1)-2 con un KOT en el décimo asalto.
Sábado 22 de octubre
El peso pluma Mauricio Lara volvió a demostrar el gran momento por el que pasa batiendo en sólo tres rounds a José Sanmartín, ante el cual el campeón mundial Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete necesitó doce asaltos para imponerse. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Antes de esa pugna, el peso ligero Ángel Fierro afianzó su posición en el top 5 WBO defendiendo un título menor de dicho organismo con un KOT en el séptimo asalto ante un Jeremy Cuevas que eligió una mala estrategia. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
El respaldo del Lara-Sanmartín, contó con otros dos combates en su tramo principal. En uno de ellos Reshat Mati ganó su debut en el peso superligero derrotando de forma poco convincente a Eduardo Leonel Rodríguez, quien le dejó tocado en un par de ocasiones pese a la derrota por decisión unánime. En el otro encuentro, el prospecto mexicano Alberto Mora derribó y derrotó por clara decisión unánime a un Diego Andrade con mucha más experiencia que él. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Pasando al duelo de invictos que se produjo en Alemania entre el peso semipesado Leon Bunn y el peso supermedio Padraig McCrory, el segundo de ambos logró una espléndida victoria, derribando tres veces y castigando duramente al púgil local hasta lograr el triunfo en el sexto asalto. Estos resultados también tuvieron lugar el sábado:
-El olímpico Leandro “Musculito” Blanc 7(3KO)-0 se proclamó campeón de Sudamérica del peso minimosca venciendo a Mauro Nicolás “Sapito” Liendro 7(4KO)-9(3) por decisión unánime (triple 96-94), así que, siendo 6º WBA antes de este triunfo y virtualmente top 3, se está acercando ya mucho a una pelea de gran importancia.
-La excampeona mundial Ivana Habazin 21(7KO)-4(1) derrotó por decisión a Diana Prazak 14(9KO)-5(1), por lo que, siendo 2ª WBC y habiendo capturado el título Plata, está muy cerca de disputar un nuevo mundial ante la ganadora del McCaskill-Cameron.
-El peso ligero polaco Damian Wrzesinski 26(7KO)-2-2 fue derribado y, en principio, derrotado por el visitante letón Artjoms Ramlavs 15(8KO)-2, que fue anunciado como ganador. Pero en un nuevo extrañísimo caso, se alegó un error al sumar las tarjetas, y posteriormente se le dio una muy polémica victoria unánime (doble 95-94 y un 96-93) a Wrzesinski.
-La racha de victorias del peso pesado James McKenzie Morrison 20(18KO)-1-2 y su impulso tras su último triunfo se vieron cortados por Robert Simms 12(3KO)-3-1, que se impuso por decisión unánime (triple 78-74) y se ganó ser llamado para hacer de test de un púgil con aspiraciones.
-El prometedor peso superligero Ernesto Mercado 8(8KO)-0 conservó su 100% de knockouts batiendo por abandono en el sexto round a Jayson Vélez 30(21KO)-10(3)-1 y pronto empezará a tantear los combates a diez rounds.
-El peso medio chileno Julio Álamos 15(8KO)-0 se anotó un meritorio triunfo por KOT en el tercer round sobre el argentino Nicolas David Verón 9(3KO)-9(3)-1 y parece listo para un paso adelante en aumento de dificultad.

WBA world super featherweight champion Hyun Mi Choi continued her very long and awful reign with a narrow unanimous decision victory over Vanessa Bradford, fight that made clear once again that the titlist would have no chance of success in a unification. Read more following the link.
Also on Wednesday, light heavyweight veteran Karo Murad faced the first fight of his career in his native Armenia. His opponent Norbert Dabrowski put up a meritorious effort and had his moments, but was dropped three times and was beat by TKO in the last round by Murad, who finished the fight completely exhausted. Thursday, October 20
In a deliberately mismatched bout that met the promoter’s goal, lightweight prospect Floyd Schofield got rid of the very faded Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas in less than two minutes. Read more following the link.
Moving on to the Japanese card, the national bantamweight champion Seiya Tsutsumi 7(6KO)-0-2 retained his belt against the brave Kenshin Oshima 7(3KO)-3(1)-1, who offered resistance and was close on the scorecards but ended up suffering the first stoppage loss of his career with a TKO in the ninth round. Perhaps the puncher Tsutsumi can climb some positions in the IBF ranking, in which he is 12th, but instead of following the route to the world title fight he should first think about trying to capture the OPBF belt that owns Kai Chiba, against whom he could have a very interesting clash.
Regarding the support, flyweight Jukiya Iimura 3(1KO)-1(1) paid the price for his excessive haste in his advance as a professional boxer and was defeated by TKO in the sixth round by Filipino Esneth Domingo 17(9KO)-2, a 23-year-old boxer who thus achieved an important victory that will help him pursue his goals in the flyweight division.

As for the ShoBox: The New Generation event, it had an upset in its main event, as unbeaten American super middleweight prospect Isaiah Steen was defeated by unanimous decision by the Ghanaian late replacement Sena Agbeko. Read more following the link.
What happened in the European bantamweight championship was also surprising for many, since the undefeated titleholder Delphine Mancini, after achieving the biggest victory of her career, was defeated by clear unanimous decision by the stepping stone Mailys Gangloff, who fought very aggressively. On the other hand, the super featherweight George Acosta finally could not fight on Friday. However, the event went ahead and Sean Brewer, Leonardo Sánchez and Ioannis Manouilidis obtained wide victories. Article and video of the event following the link.

–Diego Natchoo 24(7KO)-3-5 regained his French middleweight title, nearly two years after losing it, dealing the first stoppage loss of his career to Moughit El Moutaouakil 18(10KO)-3 (1)-2 with a TKO in the tenth round.
Saturday, October 22
Featherweight Mauricio Lara once again showed the great moment he goes through beating in just three rounds José Sanmartín, against whom world champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete needed twelve rounds to win. Read more following the link.
Prior to that fight, lightweight Ángel Fierro strengthened his position in the top 5 WBO by defending a minor WBO title with a seventh-round TKO against Jeremy Cuevas, who chose a bad strategy. Read more following the link.
The support of the Lara-Sanmartín bill, had two other fights in its main card. In one of them, Reshat Mati won his debut at super lightweight by unconvincingly defeating Eduardo Leonel Rodríguez, who hurt the favorite a couple of times despite the unanimous decision loss. In the other match, Mexican prospect Alberto Mora knocked down and defeated by clear unanimous decision Diego Andrade, fighter with much more experience than him. Read more following the link.
Moving on to the duel of undefeated that took place in Germany between light heavyweight Leon Bunn and super middleweight Padraig McCrory, the latter achieved a splendid victory. -Olympic Leandro “Musculito” Blanc 7(3KO)-0 was crowned South American light flyweight champion defeating Mauro Nicolás “Sapito” Liendro 7(4KO)-9(3) by unanimous decision (triple 96-94). Blanc, who is 6th in the WBA and virtually top 3, is getting very close to a fight of great importance.
-Former world champion Ivana Habazin 21(7KO)-4(1) defeated Diana Prazak 14(9KO)-5(1) by decision. Thus, having captured the Silver title and being 2nd WBC, she is very close to facing a world title fight against the winner of the bout McCaskill-Cameron.
-Polish lightweight Damian Wrzesinski 26(7KO)-2-2 was knocked down and initially beaten by the visitor Latvian Artjoms Ramlavs 15(8KO)-2, who was announced as the winner. But in a new very strange case, an alleged mistake in the scorecards resulted in Wrzesinski finally obtaining a very controversial unanimous victory (double 95-94 and a 96-93).
-Heavyweight James McKenzie Morrison’s 20(18KO)-1-2 winning streak, and his momentum after his last win, were cut short by Robert Simms 12(3KO)-3-1, who won by unanimous decision (triple 78 -74) and earned a call to test a fighter with aspirations.
-Promising welterweight Ernesto Mercado 8(8KO)-0 maintained his 100% knockout ratio by beating Jayson Vélez 30(21KO)-10(3)-1 in the sixth round and will soon start facing ten round bouts.
-Chilean middleweight Julio Álamos 15(8KO)-0 scored a meritorious third-round TKO win over Argentinian Nicolas David Veron 9(3KO)-9(3)-1 and looks ready for a step up in difficulty.
