After three short and easy fights as a professional, the Mexican prospect, with international amateur experience, Alberto Mora 4(3KO)-0 faced a serious step forward and a good test against his compatriot Diego “Cuchis” Andrade 14(1KO)-8(2)-2, who has offered multiple meritorious performances against promising boxers with more experience than Mora. However, the unbeaten boxer rose to the occasion and achieved a deserved victory by unanimous decision of the judges and scorecards of 80-72, 79-73 and 78-73.

Initially, Andrade’s aggressive and unorthodox (if not technically crude) offensives bothered and somewhat surprised the undefeated, who was hit by wide hooks and by straight right hands of unconventional execution. In any case, Mora overcame the trickiest moments of the fight by moving and he adapted to the style of his opponent, so later, from about the third round, he began to use his timing to land good straight rights, jabs and short combinations.

Andrade, who was suffering from a nosebleed, got a bit tired from his intense attacks, so Mora then had some room to better exploit his ability, position himself in the center of the ring and use his better punching technique to connect accurate one-twos, left hooks and other punches to the face. Although the seasoned “Cuchis” tried to offer tenacious offenses, his pace and his threat level decreased a lot compared to the beginning, and in fact in the second half it was Mora who sometimes took the initiative and even put Andrade on the ropes.

Finally, in the last rounds, Andrade tried to throw what he had left to try to avoid defeat, but he lacked precision and the undefeated held his ground with his counter straight shots. In addition, Mora managed to put his opponent on his knees with a right hand to the body in the eighth round and Andrade had to use all his tenacity to continue throwing blows, despite being hurt and worn out, and thus reach the final bell.

With only four professional fights, any long-term projections could be precipitated or inappropriate. All in all, in the short term it is clear that Mora is progressing well as a professional having been able to achieve this good win in his first eight round matchup so early in his career, so he seems like an up-and-comer to pay attention to in the division in the 2023 season.
