Por calidad media, esta no será la mejor de las semanas. Aun así, con un par de excelentes choques y varias peleas emitidas por YouTube, tendremos tanto pugnas con importantes consecuencias como combates a los que será fácil acceder, de modo que no debería costarnos mantenernos entretenidos en este fin de semana pugilístico.
Jueves 3 de marzo
La promotora Eye of The Tiger Management sigue con la celebración de su décimo aniversario, y este jueves, desde el Casino de Montreal, Canadá, ofrecerá una nueva velada en la que pondrá sobre el ring a varios de sus nombres más destacados. En el combate estelar, el prometedor peso supermedio Erik Bazinyan 26(20KO)-0, 6º WBA y 8º WBO, pondrá fin a nueve meses de inactividad enfrentándose al mexicano Reynaldo “Rey” Paniagua 17(16KO)-1, un púgil que aunque tiene un buen récord de knockouts nunca se ha enfrentado a un rival ni siquiera de nivel medio-alto, por lo que, hasta cierto punto, será una incógnita la resistencia que ofrecerá ante el favorito local.
En el respaldo el pegador del peso medio Steven “Bang Bang” Butler 28(24KO)-3(3)-1 retornará al ring buscando salir de una cadena de dos derrotas por KOT consecutivas (Murata y Macías) enfrentándose al mexicano Héctor Manuel Zepeda 20(6KO)-3(2), que ha padecido tropiezos en sus tres mayores duelos. Además, el peso superligero Steve Claggett 30(20KO)-7(1)-2 tratará de sumar un buen triunfo en una exigente pelea de preparación contra el argentino Sebastián Aguirre 18(11KO)-3, que viene de encadenar sus tres más importantes éxitos.
Viernes 4 de marzo
En esta jornada se producirá una pugna crucial para el acceso a un mundial en el peso superligero ahora que Josh Taylor va a dejar sus cuatro cinturones vacantes. Y es que los excampeones mundiales José Carlos Ramírez y José Pedraza se medirán en lo que de facto es una eliminatoria para alcanzar un puesto en la cumbre de los rankings.

Al margen de este evento, el viernes no contará con ninguna velada de un calibre similar, sino que por lo general sólo habrá combates menores con cierto interés. Uno de ellos es el que se producirá, teóricamente emitido por YouTube, desde el World Siam Stadium de Bangkok, Tailandia, en el que se enfrentarán el exretador mundial indonesio Daud Yordan 41(29KO)-4(1) y el excampeón mundial gallo Panya Uthok 54(36KO)-10(2). De todos modos, Yordan está actualmente en un mucho mejor estado de forma que un Uthok convertido en piedra de toque, y la pelea además será en el peso superligero, algo que favorece también al indonesio, por lo que es de suponer que éste podrá lograr la victoria.
Hablando de peleas emitidas por YouTube, en principio también se ofrecerá a través de esta vía una pugna desde el Eatons Hill Hotel de Eatons Hill, Australia, en la que el campeón nacional australiano del peso crucero Floyd Masson 11(7KO)-0 tendrá un rápido retorno al ring tras su importantísima victoria ante el exretador mundial Mark Flanagan. Con todo, en el combate de rodaje que disputará antes de mayores objetivos Masson se medirá al modesto indio Vikas Singh 11(6KO)-1-1, que pese a su falta de experiencia fue competitivo en una anterior visita a Australia pero que partirá muy por detrás en las apuestas.
Mencionados estos combates, quedan estos otros por destacar:
-En la ciudad de Columbus, Estados Unidos, el prospecto del peso crucero de buen bagaje amateur Alante Green 9(6KO)-0-1 disputará una nueva pelea de desarrollo a diez asaltos ante Samuel Clarkson 22(15KO)-6(4)-1, púgil experimentado pero con cuestionado encaje.
-En el Gimnasio Municipal Enrique Mosconi de Cutral Có, Argentina, TyC Sports televisará una revancha del igualado duelo que sostuvieron en 2018 Walter Matías Leiva 7(1KO)-3-1 y Nicolás Emiliano Paz 7(3KO)-5(1)-2, estando esta vez en juego el vacante cinturón sudamericano del peso superpluma.
-En el Stadthofsaal, Uster, Suiza, el invicto peso medio Ramadan Hiseni 14(4KO)-0 se enfrentará al exretador al título español Jorge Vallejo 11(4KO)-7(2)-1, que en su última pelea internacional derribó en una ocasión como visitante a Sven Elbir.
-En el Deportivo Plan Sexenal de Ciudad de México, México, se producirá una revancha entre las jovencísimas y capaces Angela Nolasco 8(0KO)-5-1 y Luz Aguilar 7(1KO)-4-2, siendo Nolasco quien ganó por ajustada decisión el primer choque.
-En el Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa de Szczytno, Polonia, el novato peso semipesado Marcin Biel 1(0KO)-0 afrontará un serio test muy temprano en su carrera ante el eslovaco Michal Plesnik 9(7KO)-5(1), que se ha medido a rivales como Youri Kalenga, Chris Billam-Smith o Jean Jacques Olivier
Sábado 5 de marzo
El mayor enfrentamiento de la semana será sin género de duda el que sostendrán el futuro miembro del Salón de la Fama Román “Chocolatito” González y el peligroso pegador Julio César Martínez, duelo del peso supermosca que tiene el potencial de ser realmente intenso y emocionante.

En el respaldo de este enfrentamiento se subirán al ring varios nombres relevantes, como el potente peso pluma Mauricio Lara, que se medirá a Emilio Sánchez, el bronce olímpico Souleymane Cissokho, que se medirá al pegador Roberto Valenzuela Jr., el bien clasificado peso ligero Ángel Fierro, que pugnará contra el veterano Juan Carlos Burgos, y el prospecto Diego Pacheco, que combatirá contra el intrincado Genc Pllana.

Al margen de este gran evento del día, tampoco el sábado habrá una gran profundidad de carteleras destacables, si bien se pueden destacar dos escenarios. Por un lado, en la ciudad de Vladimir, Rusia, el resistente ruso-armenio Vaghinak Tamrazayan 18(5KO)-8(1) intentará lograr quizás el mayor éxito de toda su carrera ante el peligroso mexicano Dante “Crazy” Jardón 34(25KO)-7(5), que muchos consideraban acabado tras sus derrotas por KO ante Francisco Rojo y Omar Aguilar pero que en su último combate (en agosto) noqueó como visitante en Reino Unido al invicto prospecto Anthony Tomlinson.
Por otro lado, en el Hala Osrodka Sportu i Rekreacji de Dzierzoniow, Polonia, a través de TVP Sport y YouTube se emitirá una velada en la que el peso ligero Damian Wrzesinski 23(6KO)-2-2 tratará de seguir recuperándose de su derrota ante Erick Encinia enfrentándose al joven nicaragüense Robin Zamora 16(8KO)-11(5), que se ha enfrentado a oponentes como Héctor Luis García, Gavin McDonnell o Francisco Fonseca.
Además, el peso wélter Michal Lesniak 14(3KO)-1-1, cuya única derrota llegó ante el citado Wrzesinski, intentará llevar a ocho su racha de triunfos y comparar su rendimiento con el de Freddy Kiwitt combatiendo contra el último rival de éste, Wilber Blanco 8(7KO)-1(1).
En la jornada del sábado también se desarrollarán estos otros duelos:
-En el Korakuen Hall de Tokyo, Japón, el prometedor Shokichi Iwata 7(5KO)-0, 2º WBA, 7º WBC y 13º WBO, realizará la primera defensa de su cinturón nacional del peso minimosca en una revancha contra el encajador Toshimasa Ouchi 22(8KO)-11(3)-3, al que derrotó de forma unánime el año pasado.
-En el Outlaw Saloon de Cheyenne, Estados Unidos, dos púgiles invictos y con buena base amateur como Shawn McCalman 10(6KO)-0 y Marquis Moore 10(6KO)-0, dos veces oro en los Golden Gloves, se enfrentarán en un bien emparejado duelo que debería tener importantes consecuencias para impulsar la trayectoria del ganador.
-En el Ford Community Center de Dearborn, Estados Unidos, el peso pesado Moses Johnson 8(7KO)-0 disputará su mayor test ante Robert Simms 11(3KO)-3, que ha sufrido todas sus derrotas a los puntos, de manera muy ajustada y ante rivales como George Arias y Alexey Zubov.
-En el Camping Centro Único de Empleados de Comercio CUEC de Santa Fe, Argentina, TyC Sports televisará un combate en el cual el enrachado peso ligero Juan Javier “Titán” Carrasco 12(6KO)-1(1) disputará su cuarto duelo a diez asaltos contra Martín Ruiz 12(2KO)-9(3)-2.
-En el Sono Centrum de Brno, República Checa, dos modestas piedras de toque como Tomas Salek 16(13KO)-3(2) y Pavel Sour 14(9KO)-7(6) se enfrentarán en una bien emparejada revancha por el título nacional checo del peso pesado. Y es que, aunque el nivel de ambos sea bajo o muy bajo, por primera vez en años tendrán delante a un rival con cualidades equivalentes a las suyas propias.

In terms of average quality, this will not be the best of weeks. Still, with a couple of great clashes and several fights streaming on YouTube, we’ll have matches with important consequences and easy-to-access fights, so we shouldn’t have a hard time keeping ourselves entertained in this weekend.
Thursday March 3
The company Eye of The Tiger Management continues with the celebration of its tenth anniversary, and this Thursday, from the Montreal Casino, Canada, it will offer a new evening in which will participate some of its most prominent names. In the main event, promising super middleweight Erik Bazinyan 26(20KO)-0, 6th WBA and 8th WBO, will put an end to nine months of inactivity facing Mexican Reynaldo «Rey» Paniagua 17(16KO)-1, a fighter who has a good knockout record but who has never faced an opponent of even average level, so to some extent it is unknown how tough he will be against the local favourite.
In the support, middleweight puncher Steven “Bang Bang” Butler 28(24KO)-3(3)-1 will return to the ring looking to get out of a string of two consecutive TKO losses (Murata and Macías) facing Mexican Héctor Manuel Zepeda 20(6KO)-3(2), who has lost in his three biggest duels. Friday March 4
On this day there will be a crucial fight for the access to a world championship in the super lightweight division now that Josh Taylor is going to vacate his four belts. Apart from this event, Friday will not have any evening of a similar importance, but generally there will only be minor fights with some interest. One of them will be broadcasted by YouTube, from the World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. In it Indonesian, former world challenger, Daud Yordan 41(29KO)-4(1) will face former bantamweight world champion Panya Uthok 54(36KO)-10(2). Yordan is currently in much better shape than Uthok, and the fight will be at super lightweight, something that also favors the Indonesian, so presumably he will be able to achieve the victory.
Also broadcasted on YouTube will also be a fight from the Eatons Hill Hotel in Eatons Hill, Australia, in which the Australian national cruiserweight champion Floyd Masson 11(7KO)-0 will have a quick return to the ring after his important victory over former world challenger Mark Flanagan. All in all, in this tune-up match for Masson before bigger goals he will face the Indian Vikas Singh 11(6KO)-1-1, who despite his lack of experience was competitive in a previous visit to Australia but who will be obvious underdog.
In Friday there will also take place these others bouts:

In the support of this confrontation, several relevant names will enter the ring, such as the powerful featherweight Mauricio Lara, who will face Emilio Sánchez, the Olympic bronze medalist Souleymane Cissokho, who will fight the puncher Roberto Valenzuela Jr., the well-ranked lightweight Ángel Fierro, who will battle veteran Juan Carlos Burgos, and the prospect Diego Pacheco, who will fight against the intricate Genc Pllana.
