El combate estelar de la velada de ProBox TV del miércoles terminó con una gran polémica, ya que el peso ligero panameño Alexander Durán hizo más que suficiente para vencer a Carlos “Tiburón” Sánchez cuando se llegó a una lectura de cartulinas por decisión técnica. En el respaldo principal, el peso gallo Abraham Arreola venció por decisión técnica al invicto Brandon Reyes y el peso superligero Rogaciano Guerrero superó contra pronóstico a Eduardo Martínez por decisión mayoritaria. Crónica de los combates siguiendo el link.
Jueves 6 de abril
También hubo cierta controversia en el combate estelar de la velada de Golden Boy Promotions, puesto que el igualado choque entre el excampeón mundial puertorriqueño del peso minimosca Ángel “Tito” Acosta 23(22KO)-4(2) y el venezolano Angelino Córdova 18(12KO)-0-1 terminó con un triunfo por decisión unánime (94-95, 94-95 y 93-96) de Córdova pese a que muchos vieron el duelo como un empate o como un triunfo de Acosta. Este es el segundo resultado polémico a su favor que obtiene Córdova de forma consecutiva, por lo que es lógico pensar que en cuanto se le acabe la suerte con los jueces su racha se verá cortada. Aun así, Córdova se aseguró una nueva importante oportunidad más en la división del peso mosca, en la que es 10º WBO.
Viernes 7 de abril
Pasando a la cartelera de ShoBox: The New Generation, el peso superligero local Shinard Bunch 20(16KO)-2-1 comenzó bien anotándose un knockdown sobre el mexicano Bryan Flores 24(13KO)-0-1, pero terminó perdiendo por decisión dividida (96-93, 94-95 y 92-97), siendo este un revés mucho más importante que el que sufrió ante Paul Kroll al inicio de su carrera. En cualquier caso, Bunch tiene sólo 23 años y tiempo de sobra para enderezar su camino de nuevo, mientras que Flores seguramente ahora se verá incluido en la cartelera principal de algún evento de PBC.
En cuanto a los otros dos duelos del evento de ShoBox, el peso superwélter estadounidense Jahyae Brown 13(9KO)-1 sufrió su primera derrota a manos del argentino Guido Emmanuel Schramm 16(9KO)-1-1, que logró con una decisión unánime (98-92, 97-93, 95-95) la mayor victoria de su carrera un año después de sufrir un inesperado tropiezo, y los también peso superwélter Robert Terry 9(3KO)-0-1 y Raúl García 12(10KO)-0-1 se tuvieron que conformar con un empate (77-75, 76-76, 75-77) que beneficia más al segundo que al primero.
Por último en cuanto al viernes, esta vez el irregular peso pluma mexicano Ángel Antonio Contreras 13(7KO)-6(2)-2 no ofreció su mejor versión y fue derrotado por decisión unánime (92-98, 92-98, 91-99) ante el colombiano Brandon Valdés 15(7KO)-3(1), que parece estar evolucionando y yendo a más en su rendimiento, lo que con sólo 24 años, podría llevarle a oportunidades importantes si recibe el apoyo adecuado.
Sábado 8 de abril
La gran velada de Teiken Promotions tuvo un muy buen combate estelar, en el que el retador Anthony Olascuaga demostró su peligro y su ambición atacando con fiereza al monarca mundial WBA-WBC del peso minimosca Kenshiro Teraji. No obstante, Teraji una vez más demostró que es el mejor boxeador de la división, lidió con las ofensivas rivales, contraatacó y castigó al valiente e insistente Olascuaga hasta llevarlo al KOT en el noveno round. En el semifondo, el japonés Takuma Inoue derrotó por merecida decisión unánime al venezolano Liborio Solís y se proclamó campeón mundial WBA del peso gallo, mientras que el exkickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa debutó exitosamente como boxeador profesional con un triunfo unánime sobre Yuki Yonaha. La cartelera principal también tuvo un espectacular triunfo por KO del peso wélter Jin Sasaki (que cayó a la lona en una ocasión) sobre Keita Obara y una excelente actuación del japonés Reiya Abe sobre el excampeón mundial español Kiko Martínez, al que controló y castigó en una eliminatoria IBF del peso pluma. Pasando a la velada de Matchroom Boxing, como se esperaba, Jesse Rodríguez 18(11KO)-0 derrotó a Cristian González 15(5KO)-2 y se proclamó campeón mundial WBO del peso mosca. No obstante, aunque era una pelea a medida para que Rodríguez luciese, no logró el knockout, perdió asaltos (116-112, 117-111 y 118-110) y sufrió una fractura de mandíbula. Esto no ayuda precisamente a que “Bam” recupere tanto impulso como buscaba en la pugna, dado que incluso se habla de que podría necesitar cirugía y perderse la unificación ante Sunny Edwards que Eddie Hearn tenían preparada para él a continuación. De hecho, el promotor ya ha hablado de un posible plan alternativo que pasaría por un Edwards vs. Julio César Martínez.
Respecto al mundial WBA-IBF del peso supergallo entre Murodjon Akhmadaliev 11(8KO)-1 y Marlon Tapales 37(19KO)-3(2), este terminó con otra polémica más, ya que muchos vieron ganar al primero, y otros tantos consideraron la pelea un empate, pero los jueces le dieron el triunfo a Tapales por decisión dividida (118-110, 113-115, 113-115). El resultado no está carente de consecuencias, todo lo contrario, dado que Tapales es miembro de PBC al igual que Stephen Fulton (titular WBC-WBO del peso supergallo), por lo que, pase lo que pase en el choque Fulton-Inoue, el citado grupo promocional seguirá teniendo en su mano facilitar u obstaculizar la pugna por la corona indiscutida.
En otros choques del evento Rodríguez-González, el peso pluma Raymond Ford 14(7KO)-0-1 derribó dos veces y venció por decisión unánime (119-107, 119-107 y 116-110) su eliminatoria WBA ante Jesse Magdaleno 29(18KO)-2(1), el peso superpluma Thomas Mattice 21(16KO)-3-1 se anotó un KOT en el último round con una controvertida detención arbitral de su combate ante Ramiro Ceseña 16(13KO)-1(1)-1, que iba ganando en las tarjetas, e Israil Madrimov 9(6KO)-0-1 superó por decisión unánime (100-90, 99-91, 99-91) a Raphael Igbokwe 16(7KO)-4(1).
En el evento de Top Rank, el excampeón mundial en dos divisiones Shakur Stevenson ganó la eliminatoria WBC del peso ligero derribando dos veces a Shuichiro Yoshino y superándolo por KOT, por lo que ahora es retador obligatorio del ganador del Haney-Loma. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Por su parte, el peso pesado Jared Anderson logró una fácil victoria sobre el imbatido George Arias con la que puso de manifiesto una vez más que va a ser un reto muy complicado para los púgiles del top 15 de la división. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Finalmente, el plata olímpico Keyshawn Davis siguió dando pasos adelante en el peso ligero derribando y llevando al KOT al exretador mundial Anthony Yigit. Crónica del combate siguiendo el link.
Este sábado intenso también tuvo un gran resultado contra pronóstico, puesto que, en el choque estelar del evento de PBC, el aspirante obligatorio WBC del peso superwélter Sebastián Fundora, que iba ganando amplísimamente el triunfo a los puntos, fue noqueado aparatosamente por Brian Mendoza, quien en poco tiempo ha pasado de ser un boxeador de nivel bastante bajo a convertirse en un temible pegador a las puertas del mundial. La jornada contó también con estos resultados:
-El campeonato de Argentina del peso superligero, y duelo de revancha, entre Claudio Gabriel Daneff 18(8KO)-3(1)-1 y Axel Emanuel Isla 8(1KO)-2 terminó con este último desquitándose de su anterior derrota y coronándose con una decisión dividida (95-94, 94-95, 94-95) en la que fue crucial un knockdown padecido por Daneff. Por otro lado, el campeón sudamericano del peso wélter Leandro Ariel Fonseca 16(8KO)-1-1 retuvo su título venciendo por KOT en el noveno round a Christian Nicolás Andino 17(2KO)-7(2)-2.
-El prospecto estadounidense del peso mosca Abraham R. Pérez 7(3KO)-0 superó con nota su prueba ante el filipino Jeronil Borres 12(6KO)-8(4)-2, dado que lo derrotó por KO en el tercer asalto.

The main event of the ProBox evening ended with a lot of controversy, as Panamanian lightweight Alexander Durán did more than enough to defeat Carlos “Tiburón” Sánchez. However, the judges gave the victory to the local boxer Sánchez. Article and video of the fight following the link.
In the main support, bantamweight Abraham Arreola beat undefeated Brandon Reyes by technical decision and super lightweight Rogaciano Guerrero upset Eduardo Martínez with a majority decision. Read more following the link.
Thursday April 6
There was also some controversy in the main event of the Golden Boy Promotions evening, since the even clash between Puerto Rican former light flyweight world champion Ángel “Tito” Acosta 23(22KO)-4(2) and Venezuelan Angelino Córdova 18(12KO)-0-1 ended with a unanimous decision victory (94-95, 94-95 and 93-96) for Córdova despite the fact that many saw the bout as a draw or as a win for Acosta. This is the second controversial win that Córdova has scored in a row, so it is logical to think that as soon as his luck with the judges runs out, his streak will be cut short. Even so, Córdova secured another important opportunity in the flyweight division, in which he is WBO number 10.
Friday, April 7
Moving on to the ShoBox: The New Generation card, local super lightweight Shinard Bunch 20(16KO)-2-1 started well, scoring a knockdown against Mexican Bryan Flores 24(13KO)-0-1, but lost via split decision (96-93, 94-95 and 92-97), this being a much more important setback than the one he suffered against Paul Kroll at the beginning of his career. In any case, Bunch is only 23 years old and has plenty of time to bounce back from this defeat, while Flores will surely now be featured on the main card of some PBC event.
As for the other two matchups in the ShoBox event, American super welterweight Jahyae Brown 13(9KO)-1 suffered his first defeat at the hands of Argentinian Guido Emmanuel Schramm 16(9KO)-1-1, who with this unanimous decision (98-92, 97-93, 95-95) achieved the biggest victory of his career a year after suffering an unexpected loss, and super welterweights Robert Terry 9(3KO)-0-1 and Raúl García 12(10KO)-0-1 had to settle for a draw (77-75, 76 -76, 75-77) that benefits the latter more.
Finally as for Friday, this time the irregular Mexican featherweight Ángel Antonio Contreras 13(7KO)-6(2)-2 did not offer his best version and was defeated by unanimous decision (92-98, 92-98, 91- 99) by Colombian Brandon Valdés 15(7KO)-3(1), who seems to be evolving and getting better, which at only 24 years old, could lead him to important opportunities if he receives the right support.
Saturday, April 8
The great Teiken Promotions event had a very good main fight, in which the challenger Anthony Olascuaga demonstrated his danger and his ambition by fiercely attacking the WBA-WBC light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji. However, Teraji once again showed that he is the best boxer in the division, dealing with his opponent’s offensives, counterattacking and punishing the brave and insistent Olascuaga until a ninth-round TKO. In the co-feature, Japanese Takuma Inoue defeated Venezuelan Liborio Solís by well-deserved unanimous decision and became WBA bantamweight champion, while former kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa made a successful debut as a professional boxer with a unanimous victory over Yuki Yonaha. The main card also had a spectacular KO victory of welterweight Jin Sasaki (who was dropped once) over Keita Obara, and an excellent performance by Japanese Reiya Abe over Spanish former world champion Kiko Martínez, whom he dominated and punished in an IBF featherweight eliminator. Moving on to the Matchroom Boxing evening, as expected, Jesse Rodríguez 18(11KO)-0 defeated Cristian González 15(5KO)-2 and was proclaimed WBO world flyweight champion. However, although it was a tailor-made fight for Rodríguez to shine, he did not get the knockout, lost rounds (116-112, 117-111 and 118-110) and suffered a broken jaw. This does not exactly help «Bam» to regain as much momentum as he was looking for in the bout, as there is talk that he could need surgery and miss the unification against Sunny Edwards that Eddie Hearn had prepared for him next. In fact, the promoter has already talked about a possible alternative plan that would go through an Edwards vs. Julio Cesar Martinez match.
Regarding the WBA-IBF super bantamweight championship between Murodjon Akhmadaliev 11(8KO)-1 and Marlon Tapales 37(19KO)-3(2), this had another controversial verdict, since many saw the former win, and many others considered the fight a draw, but the judges gave Tapales the victory by split decision (118-110, 113-115, 113-115). The result is not without consequences, quite the contrary, since Tapales is a member of the PBC stable as is Stephen Fulton (WBC-WBO super bantamweight titleholder), so whatever happens in the Fulton-Inoue clash, the aforementioned promotional group will continue to have in its power to facilitate or hinder the fight for the undisputed crown.
In other clashes of the Rodríguez-González event, featherweight Raymond Ford 14(7KO)-0-1 knocked down twice and won by unanimous decision (119-107, 119-107 and 116-110) a WBA eliminator against Jesse Magdaleno 29(18KO)-2(1); super featherweight Thomas Mattice 21(16KO)-3-1 scored a tenth-round TKO, with a controversial stoppage, in his bout against Ramiro Ceseña 16(13KO)-1(1)-1, who was winning on the scorecards; and Israil Madrimov 9(6KO)-0-1 defeated Raphael Igbokwe 16(7KO)-4(1) via unanimous decision (100-90, 99-91, 99-91).
