Jared Anderson aplastó al invicto George Arias y afianzó sus grandes perspectivas en la división del peso pesado

Dado que el invicto dominicano George “Gentleman” Arias 18(7KO)-1(1) había logrado dar la sorpresa ante el prospecto Cassius Chaney, se suponía que era el mayor test hasta la fecha en la carrera del muy prometedor peso pesado estadounidense Jared “Big Baby” Anderson 14(14KO)-0. Sin embargo, Anderson logró una victoria tanto o más fácil que en las anteriores ocasiones, forzando el abandono de su rival después del tercer asalto.
Como se podía esperar Arias intentó desplazarse por el ring tratando de dificultar las ofensivas del favorito y buscando ocasiones para contragolpear, pero Anderson, que boxeó la mayor parte del tiempo como zurdo, le presionó y le atacó con amenazantes directos zurdos, uppercuts de esta misma mano, ganchos diestros, etc. En el tercer asalto el estadounidense empezó a impactar manos demoledoras con frecuencia, y al final de ese round el dominicano se tambaleó seriamente dañado. Entonces, en el descanso, el equipo de Arias consideró que el púgil no estaba en condiciones de continuar y paró el encuentro.
Antes la cuestión respecto a Anderson era cuánto iba a tardar en estar listo para enfrentarse a boxeadores ranqueados en las listas, pero parece indudable que ese momento ha llegado ya y la pregunta ha cambiado, siendo ésta ahora qué tipo de rival podrá lidiar con su mezcla de agilidad, velocidad, potencia y precisión. Evidentemente, las pugnas se ganan en el ring y no sobre el papel, pero parece que actualmente nadie en la división del peso pesado tendría un combate sencillo contra Anderson, y sólo cuenta con 14 peleas de experiencia profesional…

Given that the undefeated Dominican George “Gentleman” Arias 18(7KO)-1(1) had managed to upset prospect Cassius Chaney, he was supposed to be the biggest test to date in the career of the very promising American heavyweight Jared «Big Baby» Anderson 14(14KO)-0. However, Anderson scored a win just as easily (or even more) than on previous occasions, forcing his opponent to quit after the third round.
As could be expected, Arias tried to move around the ring seeking to difficult the favorite’s offensives and looking for opportunities to counterattack, but Anderson, who boxed most of the time as a southpaw, put pressure on him and attacked with threatening straight lefts, uppercuts from this same hand, right hooks, etc. In the third round, the American began to land crushing hands frequently, and by the end of the episode the Dominican fighter was reeling badly hurt. Then, before the fourth round, Arias’s team considered that the boxer was in no condition to continue and stopped the match.
Before, the question regarding Anderson was how long it would take for him to be prepared to face boxers ranked on the lists, but it seems undoubtedly that that moment has arrived and the question has changed to what type of opponent will be able to deal with his mix of agility, speed, power and precision. Obviously, fights are won in the ring and not on paper, but right now it looks like no one in the heavyweight division would have an easy fight against Anderson, and he only has 14 fights of professional experience…
