PBC confirma mediocre respaldo para el PPV Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan García

A falta de 18 días para la disputa del enfrentamiento entre Gervonta Davis y Ryan García en el T-Mobile Arena de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, PBC ha confirmado oficialmente que tres combates compondrán el respaldo en PPV. Teniendo en cuenta que el precio del PPV en Estados Unidos será de 85 dólares y que la última velada de pago por visión de PBC (Benavídez-Plant) tuvo un respaldo bastante decente, no se esperaba menos para el evento Tank-García.
Sin embargo, aunque PBC no ofrecerá uno de sus peores respaldos en PPV (han habido algunos realmente espantosos), los combates que acompañarán al citado duelo serán baratos y mediocres como mucho.
El choque coestelar será un combate del peso supermedio en el que la destacada promesa cubana David Morrell se verá las caras con el ghanés Sena Agbeko. Aunque este último viene de dar la sorpresa ante el invicto Isaiah Steen, es un púgil con muchas limitaciones técnicas y con serios problemas de gestión táctica que fue dominado por Vladimir Shishkin, así que Morrell debe ser visto como abrumador favorito.
Antes del Morrell-Agbeko se producirá una revancha entre otros peso supermedio como Bektemir Melikuziev y Gabriel Rosado. Sin duda, el primer combate dejó uno de los mayores resultados contra pronóstico de la división en los últimos años, y el abusón Melikuziev tiene unos descuidos defensivos mientras ataca realmente gravísimos, pero Rosado es un castigadísimo veterano, al borde del retiro y sería rarísimo que pudiese volver a repetir su hazaña ante un boxeador que le supera enormemente en potencia, explosividad, fuerza, etc.
Por último, la cartelera principal se abrirá con un mal emparejado encuentro del peso medio en el que el invicto pegador Elijah García se enfrentará a un peso superwélter como Kevin Salgado, que fue derrotado por Bryant Perrella (aunque los jueces dieron un corrupto empate) y dominado por Joey Spencer (que a su vez fue controlado por “Mono” Ramos) y que perfectamente podría salir de este combate derrotado antes del límite.
En definitiva, toda la inversión para este evento se va a cubrir los ingresos de Davis y García, y es por este combate únicamente por el que los aficionados pagarán 85 dólares si deciden hacerlo, siendo el respaldo un mero trámite con claros favoritos y con escaso interés.

With 18 days to go before the fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States, PBC has officially confirmed which three bouts will be part of the PPV support. Considering that the price of the PPV will be 85 dollars and that the last PBC event on pay per view (Benavídez-Plant) had a pretty decent undercard, no less was expected for the Tank-García evening.
However, while PBC won’t be offering one of its worst supports for a pay-per-view (there have been some truly horrendous ones), the matches that will accompany the Davis-García fight will be cheap and mediocre at best.
The co-main event will be a super middleweight clash in which the outstanding Cuban contender David Morrell will face off against Ghanaian Sena Agbeko. Although the latter comes from upsetting the undefeated Isaiah Steen, he is a fighter with many limitations and serious tactical management issues who was dominated by Vladimir Shishkin, so Morrell must be seen as an overwhelming favorite.
Before the Morrell-Agbeko fight there will be another super middleweight fight, as Bektemir Melikuziev and Gabriel Rosado will meet in a rematch. Undoubtedly, the first fight ended with one of the biggest upsets of recent years in the division, and the bully Melikuziev has some really serious defensive oversights while attacking. However, Rosado is a very punished veteran on the verge of retirement and it is improbable that he could repeat his feat again against a boxer who vastly surpasses him in power, explosiveness, strength, etc.
Finally, the main card will open with a middleweight mismatch in which the undefeated puncher Elijah Garcia will face the super welterweight Kevin Salgado, who was defeated by Bryant Perrella (although the judges gave a corrupt draw result) and dominated by Joey Spencer (who in turn was controlled by «Mono» Ramos) and who could perfectly be stopped in this fight.
In short, all the investment for this event is destined to cover the incomes of Davis and García, and it is for this fight alone that the fans will pay 85 dollars if they decide to do so, the undercard being a mere procedure with clear favorites and not much interest.
