Si Liam Paro 23(14KO)-0 hubiese esperado unos meses realizando rodajes sencillos hasta que Josh Taylor dejase vacante su cinturón mundial WBO del peso superligero, el australiano habría tenido asegurada igualmente una pelea mundialista por el título sin dueño. Pero Paro quiso aceptar el riesgo de medirse al pegador, también australiano, Brock Jarvis 20(18KO)-1(1), apuesta que le salió fenomenal. Y es que Paro se impuso a este peligroso rival en el primer asalto.
Jarvis intentó acortar los espacios y usar su fuerza trabajando cuerpo a cuerpo, pero con esto no quebró a su contrincante. Al contrario, a través de agarres, contragolpes y ciertos movimientos, el zurdo Paro estaba ofreciendo adecuada respuesta. Estando así las cosas en un inicio tenso e igualado, Paro sacudió a su rival con un directo de izquierda y posteriormente le derribó conectando un preciso cruzado zurdo en un intercambio. Jarvis, que cayó aparatosamente, intentó levantase rápido, pero estaba afectado y no se podía mantener estable, por lo que no pudo evitar la detención
Si todo va como se espera, Josh Taylor se enfrentará a Jack Catterall a principios de 2023 y, en caso de que gane, dejará vacante su cinturón WBO del peso superligero para encaminarse al peso wélter. Entonces, si Teófimo López vence su próximo duelo, que en teoría será contra José Pedraza, el estadounidense y Liam Paro combatirán en un mundial a mediados del próximo año.

If Liam Paro 23(14KO)-0 had waited a few months facing easy stay-busy fights until Josh Taylor had vacated his WBO world super lightweight belt, the Australian would have reached a world title fight for the crown without an owner. But Paro accepted the risk of facing the puncher Brock Jarvis 20(18KO)-1(1), bet that turned out to be a complete success, since he defeated this dangerous opponent in the first round.
Jarvis tried to reduce distance and use his strength by working at close range, but this didn’t overwhelm his opponent.
