Junto al Kavaliauskas-Fox, el segmento preliminar emitido por el canal de YouTube de Showtime Sports ofreció otras dos peleas. En una de ellas, el peso superpluma ucraniano Viktor Slavinskiy 13(6KO)-2-1 sufrió su segunda derrota consecutiva perdiendo por decisión dividida (73-79, 75-77 y 78-74) ante el estadounidense Edward “Kid” Vázquez 13(3KO)-1, cuyo único tropiezo se produjo de forma ajustada y controvertida ante Raymond Ford.
Inicialmente, el zurdo Slavinskiy se mostró activo, pero la buena respuesta de Vázquez a través de directos diestros y ganchos zurdos le disuadió de seguir presionando y la pelea se volvió más táctica. Aunque en la distancia media el astuto Slavinskiy supo encontrar huecos para algún preciso directo arriba o abajo entrando y saliendo, Vázquez se mantuvo sólido con sus bloqueos y usó bien sus golpes de poder a través de ganchos a la cabeza, conectando la mayoría de puños más llamativos y posteriormente pasando a tomar la iniciativa.
Con habilidad, movilidad y recursos tácticos, Slavinskiy siguió siendo competitivo y tuvo buenos momentos, pero en general el trabajo más contundente fue el de “Kid”, que por lo tanto se hizo con una merecida victoria.
La emisión se inició con la novena pugna profesional para la insigne prospecta del peso mosca Gabriela Fundora 9(4KO)-0, púgil estadounidense que obtuvo una dominadora victoria por amplísima decisión unánime de los jueces sobre la mexicana Noemí “La Chapita” Arellano Reyes 9(5KO)-2. Las puntuaciones fueron justas, dando 99-91, 99-91 y 98-92.
Gabriela Fundora (1,75 m o 5’ 9”) tenía más ventaja en altura sobre Reyes (1,55 m o 5’11”) que su hermano Sebastián ante Carlos Ocampo, y supo aprovecharla de forma eficaz para establecer un firme control. Y es que en la distancia media la zurda invicta usó muy bien su cruzado de mano adelantada para contener el avance de Reyes, presionó con certeros directos de izquierda en la distancia larga cuando tomó la iniciativa y, además, en corta hizo valer un excelente uppercut de izquierda y ganchos diestros para terminar de anular en todas las distancias a su contrincante.
“La Chapita” Reyes lo intentó de todas las maneras, cargando hacia adelante, retrocediendo y caminando por el ring o guerreando cuerpo a cuerpo, pero tomase la decisión táctica que tomase, Fundora se mostró más precisa, ordenada y efectiva, por lo que en esta cuarta pelea de su carrera en territorio estadounidense la prospecta dejó muy claro una vez más que tiene un futuro brillante en el boxeo femenino.

Along with the Kavaliauskas-Fox fight, the preliminary segment aired on Showtime Sports’ YouTube channel featured two other bouts. In one of them, the Ukrainian super featherweight Viktor Slavinskiy 13(6KO)-2-1 suffered his second consecutive defeat losing by split decision (73-79, 75-77 and 78-74) against the American Edward «Kid» Vázquez 13 (3KO)-1, whose only setback came in a controversial way against Raymond Ford.
Initially, the southpaw Slavinskiy was active, but Vazquez’s good answer through straight right hands and left hooks dissuaded him from pressing further and the fight became more tactical. Although in the middle distance the smart Slavinskiy was able to find openings for some precise straight shots up or down going in and out, Vazquez was solid with his blocks and used his power punches well through hooks to the head, landing the more eye-catching hands and later moving on to take the initiative.
With skill, mobility and tactical resources, Slavinskiy remained competitive and had some good moments, but overall the most convincing work was that of “Kid”, who therefore obtained a well-deserved victory.
The broadcast began with the ninth professional fight for the outstanding flyweight prospect Gabriela Fundora 9(4KO)-0, American boxer who scored a dominant unanimous decision victory over the Mexican Noemí «La Chapita» Arellano Reyes 9(5KO)-2. The cards were fair: 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92.
Gabriela Fundora (1.75 m or 5’9”) had a greater height advantage over Reyes (1.55 m or 5’11”) than her brother Sebastian over Carlos Ocampo, and she knew how to take advantage of it effectively to establish a firm control. In the middle distance the undefeated southpaw used her lead hook very well to contain Reyes’ advance, she pressed with straight left hands in the long distance when she took the initiative and, in addition, at close range she used excellent left uppercuts and right hooks to neutralize her opponent in all distances.
«La Chapita» Reyes kept trying in every way she could, charging forward, walking the ring or battling without spaces, but whatever tactical decision she made, Fundora was more precise and efficient, so in this fourth fight of her career on American soil, this prospect once again made it very clear that she has a bright future in women’s boxing.
