Durante los últimos años, todas las veladas emitidas en Rusia por la cadena Ren Tv, han sido ofrecidas también gratuitamente a través de YouTube. Sin embargo, el evento del viernes sólo fue televisado por Ren Tv y, además, sólo se emitieron dos únicas peleas de boxeo, tras un par de combates de MMA y un documental.
Dejando de lado la decepcionante retransmisión, que contrastó con las anteriores (que tuvieron horas y horas de combates), en el choque principal el ruso, excampeón mundial del peso crucero, Murat “Iron” Gassiev 29(22KO)-1 retornó al ring batiendo al estadounidense Carlouse “Dropman” Welch 21(18KO)-3(2)-1 en el primer asalto.
Gassiev se tomó el combate con muchísima calma, ya que tardó decenas de segundos en tirar su primer golpe serio (un jab al cuerpo). Tras este, y con poco tiempo más transcurrido, Gassiev sacó un potente cruzado diestro que estalló contra Welch y lo arrojó de espaldas a la lona. Con muchas dificultades el boxeador terminó alzándose, pero no podía mantenerse estable y le dijo al árbitro que no podía seguir.
Evidentemente, este encuentro no sirvió en absoluto para que Gassiev se sacudiese su inactividad, lo más preocupante ahora mismo en su carrera. Y es que desde 2020, Gassiev lleva realizando sólo un combate por año debido a diversos problemas, entre ellos lesiones. Por ello, lo esencial en estos momentos es que su equipo le consiga frecuentes combates, dado que, hasta que no esté más rodado y su carrera parezca estar en una posición mínimamente firme, resulta muy complicado hablar sobre su futuro.
No obstante, es necesario señalar que Welch aparecía ranqueado en el peso puente WBC, lo que quizás indique que Gassiev podría estarse planteando militar en esa categoría y que, en base a ello, buscó derrotar a un clasificado.

During the last years, all the evenings broadcast in Russia by Ren TV have also been aired through YouTube. However, Friday’s event was only televised by Ren Tv and, in addition, only two boxing fights were broadcast, after a couple of MMA matches and a documentary.
Leaving aside the disappointing broadcast, which contrasted with the previous ones (which had hours and hours of bouts), in the main event the Russian, former cruiserweight world champion, Murat “Iron” Gassiev 29(22KO)-1 returned to the ring beating American Carlouse “Dropman” Welch 21(18KO)-3(2)-1 in the first round.
Gassiev took the fight very calmly, as it took him tens of seconds to land his first serious punch (a jab to the body). After this, and with little more time elapsed, Gassiev unleashed a powerful right hook that exploded against Welch and threw him flat on his back to the canvas. With much difficulty the boxer ended up getting up, but he couldn’t keep his balance and told the referee that he couldn’t continue.
Evidently, this bout did nothing for Gassiev to shake off his inactivity, the most worrying thing in his career right now. Since 2020, Gassiev has been fighting only one fight per year due to various problems, including injuries. Therefore, the most important thing at this time is that his team gets him frequent fights, since, until his career will be on a minimally firm position, it is very difficult to talk about his future.
However, it is necessary to point out that Welch appeared ranked in the WBC bridgerweight division, which perhaps indicates that Gassiev could be considering fighting in that “weight class” and that, based on this, he sought to defeat that opponent.
