Poco a poco, el mes de julio va viendo confirmadas nuevas veladas que evitarán que quede desierto de actividad boxística, como sucedió en otros años. La última de las carteleras anunciadas ha sido una de Top Rank que será emitida por ESPN, ESPN+ y ESPN Deportes el día 15 de julio desde el Pechanga Resort Casino de Temécula, Estados Unidos.
El combate estelar será trascendental para dos invictos peso superligero, puesto que en él se verán las caras el estadounidense Arnold Barboza Jr. y el puertorriqueño Danielito Zorrilla, respectivamente 8º y 10º WBO. Por un lado, Barboza viene de victorias ante Tony Luis, Álex Saucedo y Antonio Morán, mientras que, por el otro, Zorrilla llega de triunfos sobre Ruslan Madiyev y Pablo César Cano. De ese modo, ambos tratarán de ir un paso más allá en sus carreras ante un boxeador en buen momento y con ambición, a la vez que buscarán catapultarse hasta la parte alta del ranking WBO.
En el choque co-estelar el plata olímpico estadounidense Keyshawn Davis afrontará sobre el papel su mayor test hasta la fecha peleando a ocho asaltos en el peso ligero contra el joven mexicano Jair “Kaiser” Valtierra, un púgil con algunos destacables triunfos. La emisión de la cartelera principal comenzará con la segunda pelea como profesional para el peso pesado, plata olímpico, Richard Torrez, que se enfrentará a Roberto Zavala Jr.
En la confirmación del evento, Barboza señaló:
“He estado esperado esto durante mucho tiempo. Esta pelea pondrá sobre aviso a los otros boxeadores de las 140 libras. Vamos a sacar el máximo provecho de ello. Zorrilla está invicto, clasificado y viene de una gran victoria. Vamos a hacer una declaración de intenciones el 15 de julio. Quiero una oportunidad por título mundial pronto, y voy a seguir avanzando y peleando contra cualquiera que me pongan delante”.
Por su parte, Zorrilla afirmó:
“Estoy extremadamente agradecido por esta oportunidad, y quiero darles las gracias a Miguel Cotto Promotions y a Top Rank. Hemos estado esperando una oportunidad de esta magnitud. Arnold Barboza Jr. es un oponente de calidad, y siempre he querido una oportunidad contra un contendiente top. Estoy trabajando muy duro y estaré al 100% el 15 de julio para continuar mi viaje hacia un campeonato mundial del peso superligero”.

Little by little, the month of July is having new confirmed evenings that will prevent it from being as inactive as in other seasons. The last of the bills announced has been a Top Rank card that will be broadcast by ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes on July 15 from the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, United States.
The main event will be decisive for two undefeated super lightweight fighters, since in it will clash the American Arnold Barboza Jr. and the Puerto Rican Danielito Zorrilla, respectively 8th and 10th WBO. On the one hand, Barboza comes from victories against Tony Luis, Álex Saucedo and Antonio Morán, while, on the other hand, Zorrilla comes from triumphs over Ruslan Madiyev and Pablo César Cano. In this way, both will try to go one step further in their careers against a boxer in a good moment and with ambition, while trying to reach the top of the WBO ranking.
In the co-main event, the American Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis will face, on paper, his biggest test to date fighting, in a eight round lightweight duel, the young Mexican Jair “Kaiser” Valtierra, a boxer with a couple of mentionable wins. The broadcast of the main card will begin with the second fight as a professional for heavyweight, Olympic silver medalist, Richard Torrez, who will fight against Roberto Zavala Jr.
In the confirmation of the event, Barboza noted:
“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. This fight will put the other fighters at 140 pounds on notice. We’re going to take full advantage of it. Zorrilla is undefeated, ranked, and coming off a great win. We’re going to make a statement on July 15. I want a world title shot soon, and I’m going to keep pushing forward and fighting whoever they put in front of me.”
For his part, Zorrilla stated:
