La velada de Matchroom Boxing fue exactamente como se podía esperar, con el prospecto del peso supermedio Diego Pacheco 19(16KO)-0 batiendo por KOT en el cuarto asalto a Manuel “El Meno” Gallegos 19(16KO)-2(1)-1, con el peso superpluma Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández 34(31KO)-1(1) venciendo en el tercer round a Joniker Tovar 21(16KO)-1(1)-1 y con los peso supermosca Jonathan “Titán” Rodríguez 24(16KO)-2-1 e Israel “Jiga” González 28(11KO)-5(1)-2 ofreciendo un contendido combate, en este caso terminado en empate (95-95, 96-94, 94-96).
Así, Pacheco dio un paso adelante más hacia peleas importantes en la división, Hernández quedó preparado para que se ordene su acceso al mundial ante O’Shaquie Foster y Rodríguez y González mantuvieron sus estatus de duros tests para boxeadores con aspiraciones en la cumbre del peso supermosca.
Respecto a los campeonatos de Argentina, el titular del peso superligero Axel Emanuel Isla 8(1KO)-3 fue destronado por Agustín Ezequiel Quintana 19(13KO)-2(1)-1 con una decisión dividida (97-93, 94-96, 93-97), mientras que Lucas Bastida 20(11KO)-3(1)-1 se coronó campeón del peso superwélter venciendo a Diego Fabián Martínez 9(3KO)-4(3) por decisión unánime de los jueces (98-91, 97-92, 96-92).
Finalmente en cuanto al viernes, el prospecto ruso del peso ligero Alexander Devyatov 15(14KO)-0 superó al tailandés Phatiphan Krungklang 15(8KO)-6(5)-1 con un KOT en el sexto round y el peso supermedio australiano Jack Bowen 8(7KO)-1(1) regresó a la senda del triunfo venciendo a Francis Waitai 7(1KO)-3 por decisión unánime (78-74, 78-74, 77-75).
Sábado 8 de julio
El día 16 de mayo, en Bastión Boxeo se escribió lo siguiente: “Aun así, y aunque sobre el ring el Stanionis-Ortiz debería ser una batalla realmente buena valorando los estilos de ambos, el hecho es que nadie se debería sorprender si el combate se termina cancelando otra vez por algún pretexto creíble o no creíble, y finalmente la velada del 8 de julio termina siguiendo adelante con un puñado de duelos desparejados”. Pues bien, llegó la semana del combate entre Vergil Ortiz 19(19KO)-0 y el lituano Eimantas Stanionis 14(9KO)-0 y la pelea terminó cancelada…
Así, el evento que DAZN había anunciado como uno de sus carteles más esperados de la temporada, terminó quedando reducido a dos combates con abrumador favorito en los que los peso ligero Joseph Díaz 33(15KO)-4-1 y Floyd Schofield 15(11KO)-0 se hicieron con previsibles triunfos unánimes sobre Jerry Pérez 14(11KO)-3(1)-1 y Haskell Rhodes 28(13KO)-5(1)-1, respectivamente, y una unificación en la que Marlen Esparza 14(1KO)-1, por enésima vez en su carrera, fue favorecida vergonzosamente por los jueces contra la argentina Gabriela Alaniz 14(6KO)-1, ante la que logró unificar tres cinturones en una gran polémica, especialmente por la cartulina de 99-91 que un juez dio a su favor.
Después de que Esparza haya sido ayudada de forma flagrantemente corrupta tantas veces, quien no vea que hay intereses extradeportivos para favorecerla es que simplemente no quiero verlo, aunque todavía habrá gente que dirá que, al fin y al cabo, sus combates estuvieron igualados y podrían haber ido para cualquier lado…
Pasando a la velada de PBC, el estadounidense Jaron Ennis 31(28KO)-0 explotó las facilidades que le daba el estilo de Roimán Villa 26(24KO)-2(1) y lo batió por KO en el décimo round, afianzándose como el contendiente/promesa más interesante del peso wélter actual, división en la que se espera que consiga una pugna de calibre en el último tercio del año, hablándose de potenciales choques ante nombres como Ugás o Thurman.
En el respaldo, el cubano Yoelvis Gómez 6(5KO)-1 puso de manifiesto una vez más que es todo potencia y falta de técnica e inteligencia de ring siendo derribado y perdiendo por decisión unánime (90-99, 93-96, 93-96) ante el intrincado estadounidense Marquis Taylor 14(1KO)-1-2, mientras que el domincano Edwin de los Santos 16(14KO)-1 continuó su ascenso en el peso ligero superando a Joseph Adorno 17(14KO)-3-2 por decisión unánime (100-90, 100-90, 99-91).
Pasando a los combates de los pegadores Ernesto Mercado 11(10KO)-0 y Luis “Pantera” Nery 35(27KO)-1(1), el primero no logró mantener su 100% de knockouts, ya que venció por decisión unánime (100-90, 100-90, 100-90) su pugna del peso superligero contra el sudafricano Xolisani Ndongeni 31(18KO)-3(1), mientras que Nery venció en el segundo round a Froilan Saludar 33(23KO)-7(4)-1 y se mantuvo a la espera del resultado del combate Fulton-Inoue.
La cartelera polaca terminó con el peso medio Karol Welter 14(3KO)-1 haciéndose con su sexta victoria consecutiva, siendo esta vez el boxeador al que derrotó por decisión unánime (100-90, 100-90, 100-90) el invicto letón Kristaps Bulmeistars 11(5KO)-1. En este mismo cartel, el peso superwélter Przemyslaw Runowski 20(5KO)-2-1 se tuvo que conformar con un empate (80-72, 76-76, 76-76) ante Vladyslav Gela 13(8KO)-5(3)-1.
Por lo demás, el sábado también tuvo estos otros resultados:
-El prospecto canadiense del peso wélter Josh Wagner 16(8KO)-0 derrotó por decisión unánime al argentino Williams Andrés Herrera 15(6KO)-2.
-El campeón de Japón del peso mínimo Yuni Takada 12(6KO)-8(4)-3 defendió su corona con una victoria unánime (97-92, 96-93, 96-93) sobre Tatsuro Nakashima 11(7KO)-5(3)-1.
-El campeón de Inglaterra del peso superligero Lucas Ballingall 17(4KO)-2 derrotó por KOT a Billy Pickles 13(1KO)-1(1), ganando así una eliminatoria para disputar el título de la Commonwealth.
-El campeón de Inglaterra del peso supergallo Zahid Hussain 18(2KO)-2(1) ganó por decisión unánime (98-92, 98-93, 97-94) a Andre Grant 10(2KO)-2.
-El exaspirante mundial chileno José Velásquez 32(22KO)-8-3 sólo pudo empatar (96-94, 94-96, 95-95) contra el venezolano Edixon Pérez 27(21KO)-9(2)-1.

Friday, July 7
The Matchroom Boxing evening went exactly as expected, with super middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco 19(16KO)-0 defeating Manuel “El Meno” Gallegos 19(16KO)-2(1)-1 by fourth-round TKO, with super featherweight Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández 34(31KO)-1(1) beating Joniker Tovar 21(16KO)-1(1)-1 in the third round and with super flyweight Jonathan “Titán” Rodríguez 24 (16KO)-2-1 and Israel «Jiga» González 28(11KO)-5(1)-2 putting on a contested fight, which ended in a draw (95-95, 96-94, 94-96).
Thus, Pacheco took another step forward towards important fights in his weight class, Hernández remained ready for his soon-to-be-ordered world title fight against O’Shaquie Foster and Rodríguez and González maintained their status as tough tests for boxers with world aspirations in the super flyweight division.
Regarding the Argentine national championships, super lightweight titleholder Axel Emanuel Isla 8(1KO)-3 was dethroned by Agustín Ezequiel Quintana 19(13KO)-2(1)-1 via split decision (97-93, 94-96, 93-97), while Lucas Bastida 20(11KO)-3(1)-1 was crowned super welterweight champion defeating Diego Fabián Martínez 9(3KO)-4(3) by unanimous decision (98- 91, 97-92, 96-92).
Finally as for Friday, Russian lightweight prospect Alexander Devyatov 15(14KO)-0 beat Thai Phatiphan Krungklang 15(8KO)-6(5)-1 with a sixth-round TKO and Australian super middleweight Jack Bowen 8(7KO)-1(1) returned to winning ways defeating Francis Waitai 7(1KO)-3 by unanimous decision (78-74, 78-74, 77-75).
Saturday, July 8
On May 16, the following was written in Bastion Boxing: “Even so, and although in the ring the Stanionis-Ortiz fight should be really good considering the styles of both boxers, the fact is that no one should be surprised if the clash ends up being canceled again for some credible or non-credible pretext, and finally the evening of July 8 ends up going ahead with a handful of mismatches”. Well, the fight week for the fight between Vergil Ortiz 19(19KO)-0 and the Lithuanian Eimantas Stanionis 14(9KO)-0 arrived and the bout ended up being canceled…
Thus, the event that DAZN had announced as one of its most anticipated cards of the season was reduced to two bouts with an overwhelming favorite in which lightweights Joseph Díaz 33(15KO)-4-1 and Floyd Schofield 15(11KO)-0 scored predictable unanimous decision victories over Jerry Pérez 14(11KO)-3(1)-1 and Haskell Rhodes 28(13KO)-5(1)-1, respectively, and a unification in which Marlen Esparza 14( 1KO)-1, for the umpteenth time in her career, was shamefully favored by the judges against Argentina’s Gabriela Alaniz 14(6KO)-1 and unified three belts. The verdict was very controversial, especially due to the 99-91 card that a judge gave in Esparza’s favor.
After Esparza has been corruptly helped so many times, if someone can’t see that there are interests beyond sports to favor her is that he simply don’t want to see it. However, there will still be people who will say that, after all, their fights were close and the verdict could have gone either way…
Moving on to the PBC evening, American Jaron Ennis 31(28KO)-0 took advantage of Roimán Villa’s 26(24KO)-2(1) style to beat him by tenth-round KO, strengthening his position as the the most interesting contender/promise at welterweight, division in which he is expected to face a caliber fight in the last third of the year. In this sense, there is talk about potential clashes against names like Ugás or Thurman.
In the support, Cuban Yoelvis Gómez 6(5KO)-1 showed once again that he is all power and lack of technique and ring intelligence being knocked down and losing by unanimous decision (90-99, 93-96, 93- 96) against the tricky American Marquis Taylor 14(1KO)-1-2, while Dominican Edwin de los Santos 16(14KO)-1 continued his good run at lightweight by beating Joseph Adorno 17(14KO)-3-2 by unanimous decision (100-90, 100-90, 99-91).
Moving on to the fights featuring the punchers Ernesto Mercado 11(10KO)-0 and Luis «Pantera» Nery 35(27KO)-1(1), the former failed to maintain his 100% knockout ratio, as he won by unanimous decision (100 -90, 100-90, 100-90) his super lightweight bout against South African Xolisani Ndongeni 31(18KO)-3(1), while Nery defeated Froilan Saludar 33(23KO)-7(4)-1 in the second round and now awaits the outcome of the Fulton-Inoue fight.
The Polish card ended with middleweight Karol Welter 14(3KO)-1 claiming his sixth straight victory, this time with a unanimous decision (100-90, 100-90, 100-90) over undefeated Latvian Kristaps Bulmeistars 11(5KO)-1. In this same bill, super welterweight Przemyslaw Runowski 20(5KO)-2-1 had to settle for a draw (80-72, 76-76, 76-76) against Vladyslav Gela 13(8KO)-5(3)-1.
For the rest, Saturday also had these other results:
