El prospecto del peso ligero, y campeón de la Commonwealth, Sam Noakes 11(11KO)-0 tenía como objetivo mantener su 100% de knockouts en el respaldo del Joyce-Zhang, cosa que logró ante un Karthik Sathish Kumar 10(4KO)-1(1) sin ninguna experiencia de calidad y que perdió por KOT en el segundo round.
Kumar encajó los primeros uppercuts de Noakes, pero este último siguió soltando golpes de poder en gancho diestro y derechazos hasta que el indio tocó la lona al final del primer round. La pugna llegó al segundo asalto, pero entonces Noakes continuó atacando hasta que, con un nuevo directo diestro nítido, volvió a hacer que su oponente tocase el tapiz y el árbitro paró la contienda.
Bentley aplastó a Smith
El campeón británico del peso medio y exretador mundial Denzel Bentley 18(15KO)-2(1)-1 era clarísimo favorito para regresar a la senda del triunfo (tras su derrota ante el titular Janibek Alimkhanuly) derrotando a un Kieran Smith 18(7KO)-2(2), que no parecía a su nivel. Sin embargo, no se esperaba que Bentley fuese a ganar tan sumamente rápido. Y es que, poco después del comienzo, con un gancho zurdo a la contra dejó tocado a Smith y, con éste en las cuerdas, impactó un cruzado diestro que tumbó en la lona al retador sin posibilidad de continuar.
Dado que esta pelea era una eliminatoria para la disputa del título de la Commonwealth y este cinturón es poseído por Hamzah Sheeraz, que es compañero de escuadra, es de suponer que en la segunda mitad del año veremos un interesante enfrentamiento entre ambos. Especialmente considerando que los dos boxeadores señalaron que quieren disputar ese duelo a continuación.
La cartelera principal se inició con una tediosa y sumamente desnivelada pelea del peso superligero en la que el británico Eithan James 11(0KO)-0 golpeó durante seis rounds al jornalero búlgaro Georgi Velichkov 3(3KO)-13(1). La puntuación del juez-árbitro fue de 60-54.
Mucho más hábil y grande, James simplemente tuvo una sesión de práctica de tiro contra Velichkov, que no estuvo ni siquiera cerca de ser competitivo ante los jabs, directos, uno-dos, ganchos zurdos y los golpes al torso lanzados por el favorito. A esto se suman algunos pasos atrás y hacia los lados de James, y su tremenda falta de pegada, y se obtiene la imagen de lo que fue: un combate de un solo lado, sin sentido ni aliciente.

Lightweight prospect and Commonwealth champion Sam Noakes 11(11KO)-0 was aiming to maintain his 100% knockout ratio on Joyce-Zhang undercard, which he did against a boxer without any quality experience as Karthik Sathish Kumar 10(4KO)-1(1), who lost by second-round TKO.
Kumar resisted the first few uppercuts from Noakes, but the latter continued to unleash power shots with right hooks and straight right hands until the Indian touched the canvas late in the first round. The fight reached the second round, but then Noakes continued to attack until, with a clean right hand, he made his opponent touch the mat again and the referee stopped the fight.
Bentley beat Smith
British middleweight champion, and former world title challenger, Denzel Bentley 18(15KO)-2(1)-1 was clear favorite to return to winning ways (after his loss to the titleholder Janibek Alimkhanuly) defeating Kieran Smith 18(7KO )-2(2), who did not seem at his level. However, it was not expected that he would win so extremely quickly. Shortly after the start, Bentley hurt Smith with a counter left hook and, with him on the ropes, he landed a right hook to the head that knocked out cold the challenger.
Since this fight was an eliminator for the Commonwealth title and this belt is owned by Hamzah Sheeraz, who is a squadmate, it is to be assumed that in the second half of the year we will see an interesting clash between the two boxers. Especially considering that both fighters stated that they want to face that fight next.

Far more skilled and bigger, James simply had a target practice against Velichkov, who wasn’t even close to being competitive against the jabs, right hands, one-twos, left hooks and body shots thrown by the favorite. Add to this a few steps back and side steps by James, and his tremendous lack of punch, and you have the image of a one-sided fight, without meaning or interest.
