Viernes 14 de abril
Empezamos en el York Hall de Londres, Reino Unido, puesto que en este lugar Bateson Promotions organizará un evento en el que participarán tres nombres destacables. Uno de ellos es el número 1 WBO del peso superpluma, el británico Archie “Sharpshooter” Sharp 22(9KO)-0, que buscará evitar descender de su privilegiada posición afrontando un rodaje contra el argentino Mauro Perouene 15(8KO)-7(2)-1, boxeador con experiencia ante oponentes como Dalton Smith, Liam Wilson, Jadier Herrera o Moussa Gholam que debería darle rounds útiles.
Las otras dos pugnas serán el quinto combate profesional para el bronce olímpico armenio Hovhannes Bachkov 4(3KO)-0, que se medirá al invicto venezolano sin poner a prueba José Muñoz 12(10KO)-0, y un duelo en el que el participante en eliminatoria del peso medio Danny Dignum 15(9KO)-1(1)-1 tratará de seguir alejándose de su dura derrota ante Janibek Alimkhanuly enfrentándose a la resistente piedra de toque polaca Lukasz Maciec 28(5KO)-5-1.
Por otro lado, en el Palasport de Santa Marinella, Italia, Rai Sport televisará un campeonato de la Unión Europea del peso supergallo entre el titular local Vincenzo Picardi 9(1KO)-0 y el francés Mike Esteves 10(0KO)-1(1)-1. Evidentemente, Picardi será favorito ante un púgil sin pegada, visitante y que viene de escapar de una derrota con un cuestionable empate (como local). Sin embargo, Picardi está teniendo muchos problemas para marcar la diferencia claramente ante rivales con récord positivo, y Esteves tiene 11 años menos, por lo que quizás sea un choque contendido y con asaltos interesantes.
En el respaldo, el campeón de Italia del peso medio Giovanni “Nino” Rossetti 11(4KO)-1 afrontará su primera defensa (tras su victoria sobre Carlo De Novellis) midiéndose al invicto Luca Chiancone 7(3KO)-0-1, que en su último combate noqueó contra pronóstico al imbatido prospecto Joshua Nmomah.
El viernes contará también con estos otros encuentros:
-En la sede del Instituto Panameño de Deportes en Ciudad de Panamá, emitido por ESPN Knockout, dos peso superwélter con una sola derrota como el cubano Damián Rodríguez 13(7KO)-1 y el puertorriqueño Derrick Cuevas 24(16KO)-1-1 se enfrentarán en un bien emparejado combate buscando impulsar sus carreras. En el respaldo dos clasificados del peso minimosca como el puertorriqueño René Santiago 10(7KO)-3 y el panameño Carlos Ortega 15(6KO)-6(1)-3 tratarán de entrar en el top 10 WBO.
-En el Commerce Casino de Commerce, Estados Unidos, UFC Fight Pass emitirá un combate en el que el prospecto del peso pluma Omar Cande 11(9KO)-0 disputará su segundo choque a ocho asaltos ante Adán Ochoa 12(5KO)-2, que ofreció una difícil pugna al duro Edward Vázquez.
-En el Glasgow Boxing Academy de Glasgow, Reino Unido, el invicto peso wélter Craig MacIntyre 13(5KO)-0-1 afrontará una prueba ante Tom Hill 10(2KO)-3(1), que viene de anotarse un triunfo contra pronóstico sobre un imbatido y aguantar todos los asaltos ante el prospecto Paddy Donovan.
-En el Centro Deportivo San Pablo de Sevilla, España, el extitular nacional del peso ligero Carlos “Ratón” Pérez 18(2KO)-7(1)-2 se enfrentará al exretador al título de España del peso superpluma, con varias actuaciones meritorias, Kevin Baldospino 11(3KO)-7(1)-2.
Sábado 15 de abril
El mayor evento de la semana será el organizado por Frank Warren en Reino Unido y encabezado por la eliminatoria del peso pesado, con título interino en juego, entre los gigantes plata olímpicos Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce y Zhilei Zhang. En el respaldo participarán Mikaela Mayer, Denzel Bentley y Sam Noakes. Previa del evento siguiendo el link.
Por lo demás, en este sábado habrá un considerable número de encuentros, pero pocos de ellos de gran relieve. Quizás la velada más interesante por detrás del Joyce-Zhang será la que organizará Zanfer Boxing, emitida por ESPN Knockout, en la cual el joven pero experimentado Víctor Efraín “Chucky” Sandoval 36(23KO)-3(1) disputará uno de los combates más difíciles de su carrera ante su compatriota Gohan Rodríguez 12(1KO)-2-1, que viene de ofrecerle una durísima pugna (en la que perdió con controversia) al oro olímpico Galal Yafai.
En el undercard, el joven peso superpluma Carlos Vargas 14(12KO)-1 buscará rebotar de su primera derrota enfrentándose a Edgar Alor 14(12KO)-4(1)-1; Raúl Rubio 14(7KO)-2(1) y Ali Cortez 12(7KO)-2(1) se enfrentarán en un aparentemente bien emparejado choque del peso mosca; y el prospecto uzbeko Ikboljon Kholdarov 4(3KO)-0 dará un paso adelante midiéndose en el peso wélter al mexicano José Bernardino Lozano 10(9KO)-1.
Por otro lado, después de un tiempo sin ninguna velada polaca de ciertas dimensiones, en el PGE Turow Arena de Zgorzelec, Polonia, se producirá un evento con ocho combates y que contará con un interesante campeonato de Polonia por el vacante título del peso medio entre Karol Welter 12(3KO)-1 y el invicto Stanislaw Gibadlo 9(1KO)-0. No obstante, los demás choques contarán con abrumadores favoritos. Por ejemplo, el peso wélter polaco Lukasz Wierzbicki 22(8KO)-1(1) se enfrentará al colombiano Plácido Ramírez 21(14KO)-3(2), que ha perdido ampliamente sus tres mayores retos, y el olímpico ucraniano Dmytro Mytrofanov 12(6KO)-0-1 pondrá fin a cerca de un año y medio de inactividad pugnando en el peso superwélter contra el venezolano de nivel muy bajo Juan Carlos Rodríguez 18(17KO)-4(3).
Mencionados estos carteles, y antes de pasar al domingo, en el sábado se puede hacer mención de estas otras peleas.
-En el Sono Centrum de Brno, República Checa, la campeona mundial WBC del peso átomo Fabiana Bytyqi 19(5KO)-0-2 se enfrentará en una revancha a la mexicana Elizabeth “Veneno” López Corzo 10(1KO)-5(3)-5, con la que empató muy controvertidamente el pasado julio.
-En el Grand Hotel de Tijuana, México, emitido por Facebook, el peso mosca José Russell Regalado 12(8KO)-0, de sólo 21 años, afrontará su combate más exigente hasta la fecha ante el competente y experimentado Germán Valenzuela 17(12KO)-4.
-En el Polideportivo Vicente Trueba de Torrelavega, España, emitido por Twitch, el peso superwélter Sergio “El Niño” García 33(14KO)-2 retornará al ring un año después de su derrota ante Tony Harrison combatiendo contra un rival teóricamente sencillo para su nivel como el argentino Ricardo Sebastián Cabaña 8(3KO)-1.
-En el LumColor «Phoenix Center» de Ontario, Estados Unidos, emitido por Facebook, el prospecto del peso superligero Ernesto Mercado 9(9KO)-0 disputará su aplazado combate ante Henry Lundy 31(14KO)-12(3)-1, que incurrió en incumplimiento de contrato intentando disputar un choque ante Adrien Broner.
-En el Arena Puerto Montt de Puerto Montt, Chile, el joven prospecto local Junior Cruzat 10(6KO)-0 continuará con su desarrollo midiéndose la argentino Walter Ezequiel Gauchez 8(3KO)-1, que sólo ha perdido por decisión contra un rival más experimentado como el ágil Ayrton Giménez.
-En el Colegio Don Bosco “El Prado” de La Paz, Bolivia, el local Ramón Averanga 11(7KO)-2(1) y el exretador mundial chileno José Velásquez 31(21KO)-8-2 completarán una trilogía y buscarán una buena posición en el ranking WBO supergallo, en el que el primero es 15º.
Domingo 16 de abril
El domingo se producirá un buen evento japonés en el Segundo Gimnasio Nacional Yoyogi de Tokyo, Japón. En este cartel, televisado por Abema, participarán los temidos hermanos Ginjiro 8(6KO)-0 y Yudai Shigeoka 6(4KO)-0, que darán pasos decisivos intentando coronarse campeones mundiales. En el caso del primero, éste intentará convertirse en titular interino IBF del peso mínimo, y en retador obligatorio de Daniel Valladares, enfrentándose al exmonarca mundial René Mark Cuarto 21(12KO)-3-2, ante el que será claro favorito.
Por su parte, Yudai Shigeoka, tras la baja por enfermedad del campeón WBC Panya Pradabsri, combatirá por el título interino WBC del peso mínimo ante el exmonarca puertorriqueño Wilfredo Méndez 18(6KO)-2(1), ante el que también partirá como sólido favorito.
El domingo se producirá algún otro combate destacable en Japón, ya que en el EDION Arena de Osaka, emitido por YouTube, Riku Kano 20(10KO)-4(2)-1, el boxeador mejor clasificado en el ranking WBO del peso mosca, buscará mantener su posición peleando por un título menor contra Daiki Kameyama 10(3KO)-5-1, mientras que en el Sumiyoshi Ward Center también en Osaka, el prospecto del peso mosca Takeru Inoue 2(2KO)-0 dará un salto adelante en aumento de dificultad combatiendo contra el fogueado filipino Orlie Silvestre 17(9KO)-7(1)-2.

This time we begin at the York Hall in London, UK, as Bateson Promotions will organize an event featuring three known names. One of them is the number 1 WBO super featherweight, the British Archie «Sharpshooter» Sharp 22(9KO)-0, who will seek to avoid falling from his great position facing a stay-busy bout against the Argentinian Mauro Perouene 15(8KO)-7(2)-1, a boxer with experience against opponents like Dalton Smith, Liam Wilson, Jadier Herrera or Moussa Gholam and that should give him useful rounds.
The other two fights will be the fifth professional bout for Armenian Olympic bronze medalist Hovhannes Bachkov 4(3KO)-0, who will battle the undefeated but untested Venezuelan José Muñoz 12(10KO)-0, and a match in which the participant in a middleweight eliminator Danny Dignum 15(9KO)-1(1)-1 will try to continue leaving behind his tough loss to Janibek Alimkhanuly taking on the resistant Polish stepping stone Lukasz Maciec 28(5KO)-5-1.
On the other hand, at the Palasport in Santa Marinella, Italy, Rai Sport will televise a European Union super bantamweight championship between the local titleholder Vincenzo Picardi 9(1KO)-0 and the Frenchman Mike Esteves 10(0KO)-1(1)-1. Obviously, Picardi will be a favorite against a boxer without punch, who fights as a visitor and who is coming from barely avoiding a defeat with a questionable draw (as a local). However, Picardi is having a lot of trouble clearly winning his fights against opponents with a positive record, and Esteves is 11 years younger, so perhaps it will be a contested bout with interesting rounds.
In the support, Italian middleweight champion Giovanni “Nino” Rossetti 11(4KO)-1 will face his first defense (after his victory over Carlo De Novellis) squaring off against the undefeated Luca Chiancone 7(3KO)-0-1, who in his last bout knocked out the unbeaten prospect Joshua Nmomah in an upset.
Friday will also feature these other fights:
-At the headquarters of the Panamanian Institute of Sports in Panama City, broadcast by ESPN Knockout, two super welterweights with a single defeat as Cuban Damián Rodríguez 13(7KO)-1 and Puerto Rican Derrick Cuevas 24(16KO)-1-1 will face each other, in a well-matched bout, looking to gain momentum. In the support, two ranked light flyweights such as Puerto Rican René Santiago 10(7KO)-3 and Panamanian Carlos Ortega 15(6KO)-6(1)-3 will try to access to the WBO top 10.

The biggest event of the week will be the one organized by Frank Warren in the UK and headlined by the heavyweight eliminator between giant Olympic silver medalists Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce and Zhilei Zhang. Perhaps the second most interesting evening will be the one organized by Zanfer Boxing, and broadcast by ESPN Knockout. For example, Polish welterweight Lukasz Wierzbicki 22(8KO)-1(1) will face Colombian Plácido Ramírez 21(14KO)-3(2), who has widely lost his three biggest challenges, and Ukrainian Olympian Dmytro Mytrofanov 12(6KO)-0-1 will end nearly a year and a half of inactivity fighting at super welterweight against a very low-level opponent as Venezuelan Juan Carlos Rodríguez 18(17KO)-4(3).

A good Japanese event will take place on Sunday at the Yoyogi Second National Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. In this card, televised by Abema, the feared brothers Ginjiro 8(6KO)-0 and Yudai Shigeoka 6(4KO)-0 will take part giving decisive steps trying to be crowned world champions.
