El rápido desenlace del enfrentamiento no debe llevarnos a pensar que el mexicano Jesús “Koreano” Ramírez 20(14KO)-2(2)-3 es un muy mal boxeador o que los matchmakers escogieron un oponente sencillísimo para el favorito. Al contrario, el mérito de que la pelea terminase en el primer round es del potentísimo peso pluma británico Nick Ball 17(10KO)-0, que está demostrando vez tras vez sus grandes cualidades y que es un serio candidato al título mundial.
El musculoso Ball, que suele tener desventaja en altura y alcance respecto a sus contrincantes, astutamente se situó más allá del alcance de su adversario buscando escoger los momentos para, apoyándose en su explosividad, acortar súbitamente los espacios con un potente ataque y sorprender al visitante. Está táctica le dio resultados inmediatos, puesto que con menos de un minuto transcurrido uno de sus gancho zurdos entrando llevaron a Ramírez al tapiz.
Entonces, Ball no desaprovechó la oportunidad. En la reanudación, con un uppercut zurdo seguido de un gancho de izquierda arriba, Ball volvió a llevar al tapiz a “Koreano”, que posteriormente sufrió otro knockdown tras varios hooks. Finalmente, el británico volvió a atacar con sus curvos y el árbitro paró la pelea.
La situación en el peso pluma WBC es compleja, ya que el campeón Vargas va a pelear en el peso superpluma y, mientras tanto, se creará un título interino por el que pelearán Fulton y Figueroa. Por ello, aunque Ball capturó el título Plata WBC con su triunfo ante Ramírez y se aproximará al top 5, todavía tiene mucho tiempo por delante antes de estar cerca de una pelea titular. No obstante, esto realmente le beneficia, puesto que así no podrá precipitarse en la persecución de sus objetivos y todavía tendrá tiempo de pulir su boxeo en tests contra rivales de nivel alto antes de la noche más importante de su carrera.
Por lo que se refiere al respaldo principal de este cartel de Frank Warren, no hubo sorpresas y los favoritos vencieron antes del límite. El oro mundial juvenil Willy “Braveheart” Hutchinson 15(11KO)-1(1) venció por KOT en el séptimo asalto su pugna del peso semipesado ante el italiano Luca “War Machine” Spadaccini 8(4KO)-5(1)-3 y el peso pesado David Adeleye 10(9KO)-0 soló necesitó dos rounds para deshacerse del mexicano Elvis “Arquitecto” García 9(7KO)-4(3).

The quick end of the bout should not lead us to think that the Mexican Jesús “Koreano” Ramírez 20(14KO)-2(2)-3 is a very bad boxer or that the matchmakers chose an extremely easy opponent for the favorite. On the contrary, the credit that the fight ended in the first round goes to the very powerful British featherweight Nick Ball 17(10KO)-0, who is showing time and time again his great qualities and who is a serious candidate to capture a world title.
The muscular Ball, who usually has a disadvantage in size compared to his opponents, intelligently placed himself beyond the reach of his opponent seeking to choose the moments to, relying on his explosiveness, suddenly shorten the spaces with a powerful attack and surprise the visitor. This tactic gave him immediate results, since less than a minute after the start one of his left hooks took Ramírez to the mat.
Then, Ball did not miss the opportunity. After the restart, with a left uppercut followed by a left hook upstairs, Ball dropped “Koreano”, who suffered another knockdown later after several hooks. Finally, the British attacked again with his power punches and the referee stopped the fight.
The situation in the WBC featherweight is complex, since the champion Vargas is going to battle at super featherweight and, in the meantime, an interim title will be created for which Fulton and Figueroa will fight. Thus, although Ball captured the WBC Silver belt with his win over Ramirez and will move closer to the top 5, he still has a long time ahead before a championship fight. However, this really benefits him, as he won’t be able to rush in the pursue of his goals and he still will have time to hone his boxing in tests against high level opponents before the biggest night of his career.
As for the main support for this Frank Warren card, there were no surprises and the favorites won by stoppage. The world youth gold medalist Willy «Braveheart» Hutchinson 15(11KO)-1(1) won his light heavyweight fight by TKO in the seventh round against the Italian Luca «War Machine» Spadaccini 8(4KO)-5(1)-3 and heavyweight David Adeleye 10(9KO)-0 only needed two rounds to get rid of Mexican Elvis “Arquitecto” García 9(7KO)-4(3).
