Joe Joyce

Joe Joyce imposed again his chin and strength, knocking out Joseph Parker

Some point out that if Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce 15(14KO)-0 didn’t have his unrivaled chin, his enormous strength, and his excellent stamina and had to rely on skill and intelligence, he wouldn’t be able to achieve even a part of his successes. However, as it is an undeniable fact that Joyce has the above mentioned qualities, this makes him a fearsome opponent in the heavyweight division, something that the former world champion Joseph Parker 30(21KO)-3(1) was able to verify by himself. Joyce defeated Parker with an eleventh round knockout.

With a quick jab, left hooks up and down and a few straight right hands, Parker tried to exploit his opponent’s defensive flaws as he tried to move to reduce the pressure. But Joyce, as always, kept marching forward without caring at all about the punches received and threw powerful hooks, hurting the New Zealander in the third round. Still, Parker resisted and countered with hard uppercuts.

Parker’s sharp counterpunches seemed to make Joyce somewhat hesitant in the fourth round, as he pressed less but without avoiding a tremendously hard right hand. Even so, Joyce continued to resist without problems even the most explosive blows and kept working with his hooks against Parker, who as expected ended up getting tired. Then “Juggernaut” landed his hooks to the body against the worn-out Parker, who spent a lot of time static and in the ropes.

It seemed a matter of time that Parker would fall to the canvas, even more so when in the seventh round he suffered a serious cut, but the former world champion resisted courageously and tried to answer despite Joyce’s continued offensive. However, after the last extraordinary efforts by Parker, who connected really good counterpunches despite being exhausted, Joyce ended up dropping his opponent spectacularly with a brutal left hook that closed the fight.

As Tyson Fury is focused on confusing with his games regarding who his next opponent will be, it’s difficult to be certain about what will happen next in the top of the heavyweight division. But if Oleksandr Usyk doesn’t have success reaching an agreement to battle Fury next, he could have to face a clash with Joyce that would force him to give the best of his technique, agility and masterful boxing.
