Sólo la mexicana Erika Cruz, monarca WBA, se interpone en el camino de la puertorriqueña Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano 43(30KO)-2-1 para convertirse en campeona indiscutida del peso pluma. Y es que, en el semifondo del Joyce-Parker, Serrano superó a la danesa Sarah Mahfoud 11(3KO)-1 por decisión unánime para unificar tres de los títulos mundiales de la categoría. Las tarjetas fueron de 99-92 y de doble 97-93.
La zurda Serrano se hizo con la iniciativa con decisión y atacó con directos de izquierda arriba y abajo y ganchos diestros a la móvil Mahfoud. La danesa llegó con algún jab, pero esto no era ni remotamente suficiente para igualar el trabajo de Serrano, que empezó a descargar insistentes y peligrosos hooks zurdos al hígado. Además, en el segundo round Mahfoud padeció un corte en la cabeza por choque involuntario, así que todo pintaba muy mal para la no favorita.
Sobrepasada la mitad, Serrano se había asegurado ya la victoria a los puntos, pero continuó golpeando con dureza buscando quebrar a su oponente, quien de todos modos resistió bien el castigo y continuó moviéndose sin defenderse adecuadamente mientras lanzaba manotazos. Así, la pelea se consumió hasta el final de manera monótona y de un solo lado, siendo la mayor excepción un noveno round en el que Mahfoud llegó con precisos rectos ante una Serrano cansada.

Only Mexican Erika Cruz, WBA titlist, stands in the way of Puerto Rican Amanda «The Real Deal» Serrano 43(30KO)-2-1 to become undisputed featherweight champion. On Saturday, in the co-main event of the evening Joyce-Parker, Serrano beat the Danish Sarah Mahfoud 11(3KO)-1 by unanimous decision to unify three of the world belts of the division. The scores were 99-92 and double 97-93.
The southpaw Serrano took the initiative with determination and attacked with straight lefts up and down and right hooks the mobile Mahfoud. The Dane landed a few jabs, but this was not remotely enough to match the work of Serrano, who began connecting insistent and dangerous left hooks to the liver. Also, in the second round Mahfoud suffered a cut on the head from an accidental clash, so things looked very bad for the underdog.
After the half of the bout, Serrano had already secured victory on points, but continued to hit hard looking to knock out her opponent, who resisted the punishment well and continued to move without adequately defending herself while throwing weak shots. Thus, the fight reached the end in a monotonous and one-sided way, the biggest exception being a ninth round in which Mahfoud connected some precise straight punches against a tired Serrano.
