En la previa de este combate señalamos que Bob Arum necesitaba tomar una decisión rápido sobre posibles unificaciones de Shakur Stevenson en el peso superpluma [59,0 kg o 130 lb] antes de que éste tuviese que ascender al peso ligero por problemas en la báscula. Pues bien, Arum ya no necesitará tomar una decisión, puesto que el campeón unificado WBC-WBO Stevenson pesó 131,6 lb (59,7 kg), o sea 700 gramos (1,6 lb) de más, y rechazó subirse de nuevo a la báscula tras las dos horas de margen que se le dieron.
Así terminó el reinado en el peso superpluma del estadounidense, que ha afirmado que militará en el peso ligero después de esta pelea. Y es que, aunque si su rival Robson Conceição lo hubiese querido podría haberse negado a combatir y (según las normas de la comisión de New Jersey) habría recibido igualmente la bolsa del combate íntegra, el brasileño decidió seguir adelante con la pelea asumiendo la desventaja en peso a cambio de recibir un aumento de su bolsa. Conceição paró la romana en 58,8 kg (129,6 lb).
En cuanto al semifondo, pelea con un margen sobre el peso ligero [61,2 kg o 135 lb], el plata olímpico estadounidense Keyshawn Davis dio 61,8 kg (136,2 lb) y el mexicano Omar Tienda marcó 61,9 kg (136,4 lb).
Estos dos combates serán emitidos en Estados Unidos y en otros países del continente americano esta noche por ESPN, ESPN Deportes y ESPN+ a partir de las 22:00 ET/19:00 PT (4:00 de la madrugada en España). En territorio español el evento se podrá ver a través de un PPV de Fite que comenzará a las 2:00.

In the preview of this fight we said that Bob Arum needed to make a quick decision on possible Shakur Stevenson unifications at super featherweight [59.0 kg or 130 lbs] before the boxer had to move up to lightweight due to issues with the scales. Well, Arum will no longer need to select the best path, since the unified WBC-WBO champion Stevenson weighed 59.7 kg (131.6 lb), that is 700 grams (1.6 lb) overweight, and refused to return to the scale in the two hours he was given.
This way ended the super featherweight reign of the American, who has stated that he will fight at lightweight after this bout. Although if his opponent, Robson Conceição, had wanted it he could have refused to fight and (according to the rules of the New Jersey commission) he would have still received the full purse, the Brazilian decided to go ahead with the match accepting the disadvantage in weight in exchange for receiving an increase in his purse. Conceição tipped the scales at 58.8 kg (129.6 lb).
As for the co-feature, with a margin over lightweight [61.2 kg or 135 lb], the American Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis weighed 61.8 kg (136.2 lb) and the Mexican Omar Tienda weighed 61.9 kg (136.4 lb).
These two fights will be broadcast in the United States by ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ starting at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m, while in the United Kingdom the card will be aired by Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Arena from 1:00 a.m. In other countries the event will be broadcast through a PPV of Fite.
