Breve: La WBA cambia de opinión y ordena mundial del peso crucero Goulamirian vs. Egorov

Con el estallido del conflicto bélico entre Rusia y Ucrania y el posterior veto a los boxeadores rusos a competir en peleas titulares, el aspirante obligatorio WBA del peso crucero Aleksei Egorov perdió su posición para retar al monarca mundial de la división, el franco-armenio Arsen Goulamirian. Esto resultó especialmente llamativo teniendo en cuenta que Goulamirian y Egorov habían estado ya emplazados a combatir en un mundial que se canceló horas antes del inicio de la pelea por enfermedad del monarca.
Pues bien, después de que el sustituto de Egorov, Ryad Merhy, renunciase a combatir ante Goulamirian, la WBA, que ni siquiera ranquea a los boxeadores rusos (en lugar de sus nombres en las listas aparece un Not Rated, no clasificado), ha cambiado de opinión. Así, en lugar de ordenar un choque entre Goulamirian y el nuevo retador obligatorio Yuniel Dorticós, finalmente la WBA ha informado a Goulamirian y Egorov que tienen 15 días para pactar otra vez un duelo.

With the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the subsequent ban on Russian boxers from competing in title fights, WBA cruiserweight mandatory challenger Aleksei Egorov lost his position to fight the world champion of the division, the French Arsen Goulamirian. This was especially striking considering that Goulamirian and Egorov had been set to fight in a world title bout that was canceled hours before its beginning due to an illness suffered by the titlist.
However, after Egorov’s substitute, Ryad Merhy, renounced to fight Goulamirian, the WBA, which does not even rank Russian boxers (instead of their names on the lists appear the words “Not Rated”), has changed its mind. Thus, instead of ordering a clash between Goulamirian and the new mandatory challenger Yuniel Dorticós, the WBA has finally informed Goulamirian and Egorov that they have 15 days to negotiate again their duel.
