Canceladas las subastas para el Leo Santa Cruz vs. Leigh Wood y el Ohara Davies vs. Sandor Martín

La WBA tenía programadas dos subastas para este viernes, pero finalmente ambas fueron canceladas por distinto motivo. Una de ellas era la concerniente al campeonato mundial WBA del peso pluma entre el titular Leo Santa Cruz y el aspirante obligatorio Leigh Wood, quienes en principio han alcanzado un acuerdo para enfrentarse. De hecho incluso se confirmaron dos posibles fechas para el cruce: el 5 de noviembre o el 12 de noviembre.
En cualquier caso, todavía hay muchos que se muestran escépticos sobre la posibilidad de que esta pugna se llegue a materializar, así que habrá que esperar los próximos 15 días, periodo de tiempo que tienen los organizadores para enviar a la WBA los contratos firmados y todos los detalles oficiales del combate.
La otra subasta que no tuvo lugar fue la que debían sostener los equipos de Ohara Davies y Sandor Martín, quienes estaban emplazados a enfrentarse en una eliminatoria del peso superligero. Según ha informado oficialmente la WBA, el motivo de la cancelación de la subasta es que Martín ha renunciado a la pelea señalando que tiene otros planes, si bien no deja de ser sorprendente que haya rechazado una antesala mundialista ante un Davies con brechas y que no está cerca del nivel de la élite de la división.
Sea como sea, la WBA ya ha iniciado la búsqueda de un nuevo rival para que se mida a Davies en esta eliminatoria, oponente que se dará a conocer en los próximos días.

The WBA had two purse bids scheduled for last Friday, but both were finally canceled for different reasons. One of them concerned the WBA featherweight world championship between the titleholder Leo Santa Cruz and the mandatory challenger Leigh Wood, who in principle have reached an agreement to face each other. In fact, two tentative dates for the bout were confirmed: November 5 or November 12.
In any case, there are still many who are skeptical about the possibility that this fight will really materialize, so we will have to wait the next 15 days, period of time that the organizers have to send to the WBA the signed contracts and all the official details of the fight.
The other auction that did not take place was the one between the teams of Ohara Davies and Sandor Martín, who were supposed to clash in a super lightweight eliminator. As officially reported by the WBA, the reason for the cancellation of the purse bid is that Martín has renounced to the fight stating that he has other plans, although it is still surprising that he has rejected an eliminator against Davies, boxer with many flaws and who it’s close to the level of the elite of the division.
Be that as it may, the WBA has begun the search for a new boxer to face Davies in this eliminator, opponent that will be announced in the coming days.
