Hoy habrán subastas WBC para Callum Smith vs. Bauderlique y Josh Taylor vs. José Zepeda

Si no es que en las próximas horas se producen acuerdos, algo que perfectamente podría suceder, hoy al mediodía en hora de Ciudad de México se producirán dos subastas para peleas WBC. Una de ellas es la eliminatoria final del peso semipesado entre el británico, excampeón mundial del peso supermedio, Callum Smith y el bronce olímpico francés Mathieu Bauderlique. Estos boxeadores deben enfrentarse para elegir a uno de los retadores obligatorios del campeón mundial unificado WBC-IBF-WBO Artur Beterbiev.
Cuando se ordenó la pugna eliminatoria muchos pensaron que el poder de Matchroom Boxing y la posibilidad de participar en una de sus grandes veladas convencerían fácilmente a Bauderlique, pero aparentemente ninguna de estas dos cosas ha servido, pareciendo que el francés quiere hacer lo posible para maximizar sus ganancias de cara a este decisivo y difícil enfrentamiento.
El otro choque que hoy irá a subasta será el campeonato mundial WBC, IBF y WBO del peso superligero entre Josh Taylor y su retador obligatorio José Zepeda. El combate ha dado infinidad de vueltas, pareciendo primero que no se produciría, luego que sí y finalmente que a lo mejor tendría lugar.
Y es que, pese a ser ambos miembros de la escuadra de Top Rank, se han producido larguísimas negociaciones, repetidos aplazamientos en la subasta y rumores de todo tipo, llegándose al final hasta esta última fecha para la presentación de pujas. Seguramente en la subasta habrá una puja única por parte de Top Rank y se alcanzará un acuerdo más o menos satisfactorio para todos oficial o extraoficialmente, pero esto es boxeo y realmente nunca se pueden tener certezas respecto a si la pelea terminará pactándose o si habrá una sorpresa en la subasta o antes de ella.

If agreements are not reached in the next few hours, something that could perfectly happen, today at noon in Mexico City time there will be two purse bids for WBC fights. One of them is the light heavyweight final eliminator between the Briton, former super middleweight world champion, Callum Smith and the French Olympic bronze medalist Mathieu Bauderlique. These boxers must fight to decide one of the mandatory challengers for the unified WBC-IBF-WBO world champion Artur Beterbiev.
When the eliminator was ordered, many thought that Matchroom Boxing’s power and the possibility of participating in one of its great evenings would easily convince Bauderlique, but apparently neither of these two things have persuaded him, and it seems that the Frenchman wants to do everything possible to maximize his profit ahead of this decisive and difficult clash.
The other purse bid will be for the WBC, IBF and WBO super lightweight world championship between Josh Taylor and his mandatory challenger Jose Zepeda. The bout has taken countless turns, seeming first that it would not take place, then that it would and finally that maybe it will materialize.
Despite being both members of the Top Rank stable, there have been very long negotiations, repeated postponements in the purse bid and rumors of all kinds, reaching finally the point of this last date for the presentation of bids. Surely in it there will be a single bid by Top Rank and a more or less satisfactory agreement will be reached for all the parts officially or unofficially, but this is boxing and it is difficult to really have certainty as to whether the fight will end up being agreed or if there will be a surprise at the purse bid or before it.
