El día 10 de julio, en el Poliedro de Caracas, Venezuela, el venezolano Roger Gutiérrez 26(20KO)-3(2)-1 afrontará la segunda defensa de su cinturón mundial WBA del peso superpluma en el combate estelar del evento KO a las Drogas organizado por la Asociación y emitido por YouTube.
Su contrincante será el retador obligatorio dominicano Héctor Luis García 15(10KO)-0, que ganó el acceso a este combate en febrero anulando completamente como visitante al prospecto estadounidense Chris Colbert, quien era sólido favorito en las apuestas. Por su parte, Gutiérrez realizó su último duelo el pasado agosto, cuando venció por decisión unánime su combate de revancha contra René Alvarado.
En una división en la que es campeón unificado Shakur Stevenson, es difícil imaginarse a Gutiérrez o a García pudiendo cuestionar su hegemonía. No obstante, el choque del 10 de julio parece un duelo muy bien emparejado e interesante, que seguramente será altamente entretenido y que le valdrá al ganador para afianzar y expandir su prestigio, por lo que, siendo además emitido gratuitamente por YouTube, valdrá la pena prestarle atención.
