Brandun Lee derrotó por amplia decisión unánime a muy bien preparado Zachary Ochoa

La cadena de 15 knockouts del pegador superligero Brandun Lee 25(22KO)-0 se vio cortada anoche, cuando por tercera vez en su carrera alcanzó una decisión de los jueces ante un Zachary Ochoa 21(7KO)-3(1) voluntarioso, fuerte y muy bien preparado. No obstante, si bien Lee podría haber sido algo más agresivo, éste sumó diez útiles rounds (hasta ahora tenía menos de 50 asaltos combatidos en 24 peleas) y logró una amplísima victoria unánime con acertadas tarjetas de doble 99-91 y un 98-92.
Lee se tomó el combate con mucha calma, presionando metódico y sin tomar grandes riesgos, llegando con esporádicas explosivas entradas con su gancho zurdo, su cruzado diestro y breves uno-dos-hook contra su móvil rival. A diferencia de otros contrincantes de Lee, Ochoa se mantuvo ordenado y astuto, bloqueando bien, estando atento para dar un paso hacia la izquierda para eludir la presión y contragolpeando con oportunas pero muy poco frecuentes derechas.
Así, Ochoa pudo evitar situaciones de peligro, ofrecer trabajo e incluso tuvo sus momentos, como en el cuarto round, cuando tuvo algunos aciertos consecutivos, aunque estos se vieron compensados por un derechazo de Lee que le movió y una posterior amenazante ofensiva. En definitiva, aunque Ochoa hizo todo lo que pudo y dio incluso más de lo que tenía, aguantando algunas manos realmente sólidas y al final hasta parándose a intercambiar en corta, la potencia, la rapidez y el superior talento natural de un Lee más ofensivo marcaron la diferencia en casi todos los asaltos y le dieron al invicto una clara victoria.
Lee es 9º IBF y, con knockouts o sin ellos, está teniendo un buen rendimiento más allá de algunos errores, por lo que es de suponer que en la segunda mitad de esta temporada afrontará una prueba de fuego en la que buscará dejar de ser un prospecto y pasar a convertirse en un serio contendiente al título.

The 15 knockout streak of super lightweight puncher Brandun Lee 25(22KO)-0 was cut short last night, when for the third time in his professional career he reached a decision against a willful, strong and very well prepared Zachary Ochoa 21(7KO)-3(1). However, although Lee could have been somewhat more aggressive, he added ten useful rounds of experience (until now he had fought less than 50 rounds in 24 fights) and achieved a wide unanimous decision victory with fair scorecards of double 99-91 and one 98-92.
Lee boxed very calmly, pressing methodically not taking big risks and attacking with sporadic explosive left hooks, right overhands and brief one-two-hooks combinations against his mobile opponent. Unlike some others Lee’s opponents, Ochoa maintained his order and cunning, blocking well, using conveniently steps to the left to avoid pressure, and counterpunching with good but infrequent right hands.
Thus, Ochoa was able to avoid dangerous situations, offer work and even had his moments, such as in the fourth round, when he had some consecutive successes, although these were answered by a right hand from Lee that shook him before receiving a threatening offensive. All in all, despite Ochoa did his best, resisting some really solid hands and in the end even stopping to exchange at close range, the power, quickness and superior natural talent of a more offensive Lee made the difference in almost every round and gave the undefeated a clear victory.
Lee is 9th IBF and, with knockouts or without them, he is having good performances beyond some mistakes, so probably in the second half of this season he will fight in a decisive test in which try to become a standing out contender in the division.
