Triunfos antes del límite de Pierce O’Leary, Nina Hughes y Sultan Zaurbek en el respaldo del Gwynne-Willis

Antes de que tuviesen lugar los campeonatos Gwynne-Willis y Gilley-Brown, tres destacados prospectos de MTK Global lograron victorias antes del límite, siendo el más rápido de ellos el peso superligero irlandés Pierce O’Leary 9(5KO)-0, que terminó en el primer asalto con Nathan Augustine 4(2KO)-4(1)-1.
En el arranque ambos púgiles ofrecieron peligrosos cruces, conectando O’Leary un gancho zurdo que sacudió a su contrincante, algo que volvió a suceder instantes más tarde. Todavía en el primer round, O’Leary sacó un magnífico cruzado zurdo (contestando a una derecha de Augustine) que estalló contra su rival y lo arrojó al tapiz, terminando entonces el choque.
También se mostró arrolladora la peso supergallo Nina Hughes 2(1KO)-0, que le asestó la derrota más rápida de su carrera a Bec Connolly 3(0KO)-13(4) con un KOT en el segundo asalto.
En el primer asalto Hughes embistió muy decidida con ganchos y rectos, agobiando a la veterana Connolly, que recibió una cuenta tras caer por una derecha. El round terminó entonces, pero en el segundo episodio Hughes continuó su agresiva ofensiva, estremeciendo a su contrincante con insistentes uno-dos y combinaciones gancho-directo hasta que el tercer hombre detuvo el combate.
Finalmente, entre los choques del respaldo incicial también destacó la victoria del peso superpluma kazajo, plata mundial juvenil y oro asiático, Sultan Zaurbek 13(9KO)-0, que venció por KO en el quinto round pero que fue derribado en una ocasión por el argentino Nicolás “Pitbull” Botelli 11(6KO)-7(4).
Al comienzo el kazajo utilizó su buen control de la distancia en un combate táctico, llegando con algunos jabs a la vez que evitaba puños con pasos atrás. Poco a poco, el zurdo Zaurbek fue aumentando su actividad sacando golpes de poder a través de cruzados de ambas manos y directos de izquierda, aunque en el tercer asalto una derecha a la contra le sorprendió y le derribó. En la reanudación, el argentino trató de aprovechar el momento atacando al invicto contra las cuerdas, pero Zaurbek sacó hooks a la contra que estremecieron a Bottelli.
El combate se calmó posteriormente en el cuarto round, pero en el quinto un directo al hígado lanzado por Zaurbek puso a Bottelli de rodillas en la lona durante la cuenta completa del árbitro.

Before the championships Gwynne-Willis and Gilley-Brown took place, three interesting MTK Global prospects scored stoppage victories, the fastest of them being Irish super lightweight Pierce O’Leary 9(5KO)-0, who defeated in the first round Nathan Augustine 4(2KO)-4(1)-1.
At the start, both fighters offered dangerous exchanges, connecting O’Leary a left hook that shook his opponent, something that happened again moments later. Still in the first round, O’Leary landed a superb left hook (answering a right hand from Augustine) that dropped his opponent to the mat, thus ending the clash.
Super bantamweight Nina Hughes 2(1KO)-0 was also very fast in her win, as she dealt the fastest loss of her career to Bec Connolly 3(0KO)-13(4) with a second-round TKO.
In the first round, Hughes charged with determination with hooks and straight punches, overwhelming the veteran Connolly, who received a count after falling to the canvas due to a right hand. The round ended then, but in the next one Hughes continued her aggressive offensive, rocking her opponent with insistent one-twos and straight-hook combinations until the third man stopped the fight.
Finally, among the bouts of the initial support also stood out the victory of the Kazakh, world youth silver medalist and Asian gold medalist, Sultan Zaurbek 13(9KO)-0, who won by KO in the fifth round despite being knocked down once by the Argentine Nicolás “Pitbull” Botelli 11(6KO)-7(4).
At the beginning the Kazakh used his good control of the distance in a tactical fight, landing some jabs while avoiding punches with steps back. Little by little, the southpaw Zaurbek increased his activity by throwing power shots with hooks and straight lefts, although in the third round a counter right surprised him and dropped him. After the restart, the Argentine tried to seize the moment by attacking the undefeated on the ropes, but Zaurbek counterpunched with hooks shooking Botelli.
The pace of the fight slowed down in the fourth round, but in the fifth a straight shot to the liver by Zaurbek brought Botelli to his knees during the referee’s full count.
