El proceso para elegir al próximo aspirante obligatorio IBF del peso supermedio, cinturón que posee actualmente Canelo Álvarez, ha resultado ser un asunto complicadísimo, habiendo transcurrido más de un año desde que por primera vez se eligieron unos contendientes para que se enfrentarán en una eliminatoria. Sin abordar el asunto detalladamente, basta con recordar que han sido seleccionados para participar en la eliminatoria Zach Parker, Stefan Haertel, Vladimir Shishkin, Aidos Yerbossynuly y Caleb Truax, pero ninguno de ellos ha terminado combatiendo en la antesala mundialista por uno u otro motivo (positivos en PCR, lesiones, etc.)
Ahora, múltiples medios confirman que el 2 de julio finalmente se producirá la dichosa eliminatoria IBF del peso supermedio entre el cubano William Scull y el ruso Evgeny Shvedenko, quienes cuentan con el apoyo promocional de dos compañías alemanas que ya habrían alcanzado un acuerdo definitivo para que el choque se materializase, a no ser que haya un nuevo imprevisto.
El choque parece muy interesante, dado que, aunque ninguno de los dos cuenta con victorias ante oponentes de nivel alto, son dos invictos con cualidades que necesitan una prueba de fuego, test que les llegará en esta eliminatoria en la que se enfrentarán a un boxeador con aspiraciones. Por ello, aunque el ganador difícilmente podrá ser considerado un oponente adecuado para Canelo, al menos el vencedor de la eliminatoria despuntará en la parte alta y surgirá como un potencial participante en futuros buenos cruces en la división.

The process to choose the next IBF mandatory super middleweight challenger, belt currently owned by Canelo Alvarez, has proven to be a complicated case, with more than a year having passed since contenders were first selected to face off in an eliminator. Without going into the matter in detail, it is enough to remember that Zach Parker, Stefan Haertel, Vladimir Shishkin, Aidos Yerbossynuly and Caleb Truax have been selected to participate in the eliminator, but none of them have ended up fighting in it by one reason or another (PCR positives, injuries, etc.)
Now, multiple media outlets confirm that on July 2 the IBF super middleweight eliminator will finally take place between Cuban William Scull and Russian Evgendy Shvedenko, boxers who have the promotional support of two German companies that have already reached a definitive agreement so that the bout materializes, unless there is a new unforeseen event.
The clash seems very interesting as, although neither of them has won against high-level opponents, they are two undefeated fighters with qualities that need a crucial test, that will come to them in this eliminator in which they will face a boxer with aspirations. Therefore, although the winner can hardly be considered a suitable rival for Canelo, at least the winner of the match will stand out at the top and emerge as a potential participant in future good bouts in the division.
