Como parte del respaldo principal del evento de Probellum de este viernes se produjo el campeonato británico del peso superwélter entre el titular Troy “Trojan” Williamson 18(13KO)-0-1 y el aspirante Mason “Nutty” Cartwright 17(7KO)-3(2)-1. Este entretenido combate terminó con el favorito Williamson reteniendo su corona con una decisión unánime, aunque cayó a la lona en una ocasión, sufrió para lograr el triunfo y el veredicto está levantando ya cierta controversia. Las puntuaciones fueron de razonable 114-113 y de muy excesivos 116-111 y 117-112.
Después de llegar con alguna amenazante mano en el primer round, en el segundo asalto Cartwright se anotó un knockdown con un potente cruzado diestro. En la reanudación Williamson padeció serias dificultades y se tuvo que agarrar, pero desde el tercer episodio tiró de coraje e intercambió golpes con intensidad con su bravo aspirante en el centro del ring. Ambos se llegaron con contundentes golpes de poder durante minutos, si bien Williamson hacia la mitad puso algo de espacio y usó con más determinación sus rectos. De todos modos, Cartwright siguió conectando estupendos hooks que volvieron a mover al titular.
En el séptimo episodio Williamson estremeció a su rival con curvos zurdos y Cartwright empezó a desgastarse cada vez más por los buenos directos de su adversario, que estaba remontando la desventaja en las cartulinas. A través de sus afilados derechazos desde la distancia media-larga, Williamson continuó teniendo mejores resultados que su adversario en el último tramo, si bien esto no impidió que el retador usase toda su tenacidad hasta el final y que llegase con tremendos puños.
El primer enfrentamiento emitido como parte de la cartelera principal fue el choque por encima del peso medio entre el prometedor británico Mark Dickinson 3(1KO)-0 y el húngaro Peter Kramer 11(8KO)-5(2)-3, pelea que terminó con una amplia victoria a los puntos del imbatido (juez-árbitro 60-54).
Explosivo y con muy buena ejecución técnica al ataque, Dickinson se mostró claramente superior a Kramer, a quien golpeó con duros hooks abajo y repetidos rectos de mano adelantada. De todos modos, aunque conectó muchos golpes nítidos, Dickinson no logró quebrar a Kramer que, además de resistir, logró explotar los descuidos defensivos del local con puntuales pero certeros golpes de poder con uppercut diestro, gancho zurdo o recto de derecha. Aun así, aunque Dickinson se sobreconfió en varias ocasiones y se paró en corta sin necesidad, también puso de manifiesto su talento y potencial, especialmente a través de su fluidez en el uso de las combinaciones.

As part of the main undercard of this Friday’s Probellum event took place the British super welterweight championship between titleholder Troy “Trojan” Williamson 18(13KO)-0-1 and challenger Mason “Nutty” Cartwright 17(7KO)-3(2)-1. This entertaining bout ended with the favorite Williamson retaining his crown with a unanimous decision, though he went down to the canvas once, he struggled to achieve victory and the verdict is raising some controversy. The scorecards were a reasonable 114-113 and very excessive 116-111 and 117-112.
After connecting some threatening hands in the first round, Cartwright scored a knockdown in the second with a powerful right hook. After the restart, Williamson suffered serious difficulties and had to clinch, but from the third episode he used his courage and exchanged shots with intensity with his brave rival in the center of the ring. Both boxers hit each other with hard power shots for minutes, although Williamson towards the mid point put some distance and used his straight punches with more determination. Still, Cartwright continued to land very good hooks that shook the titlist again.
In the seventh round, Williamson staggered a bit his rival with left hooks and later Cartwright began to tire due to the good straight hands of his opponent, who was reducing the difference in the scorecards. Through his sharp rights from mid-long distance, Williamson continued to outperform his opponent in the final stretch, although this did not prevent the challenger from using all of his tenacity till the end and connect tremendous hands.
The first bout aired as part of the main card was a clash agreed above middleweight between promising British Mark Dickinson 3(1KO)-0 and Hungarian Peter Kramer 11(8KO)-5(2)-3, fight that ended with a wide points victory of the undefeated (judge-referee, 60-54)
Explosive and with very good attacking technique, Dickinson was clearly superior to Kramer, whom he hit with hard hooks down and repeated jabs. However, although he landed many clean shots, Dickinson was unable to break Kramer who, in addition to resisting, managed to exploit the local’s defensive oversights with punctual but accurate power punches with right uppercut, left hook or straight right. Still, while Dickinson got overconfident on several occasions and unnecessarily stopped at close range, he also showed his talent and potential, especially through his skillful use of the combinations.
