La eliminatoria del peso pesado Filig Hrgović vs. Zhilei Zhang será semifondo del Canelo-Bivol

La espera habrá valido la pena para el croata Filip Hrgović, que durante meses aguardó que algún boxeador aceptase combatir contra él en una eliminatoria IBF del peso pesado. Y es que, tras múltiples propuestas rechazadas por parte de los púgiles clasificados, finalmente el chino Zhilei Zhang aceptó enfrentarse a él, decidiendo seguidamente Matchroom Boxing incluir este enfrentamiento en una de sus más importantes veladas del año.
Según ha informado primero Keith Idec, el Hrgović-Zhang será el semifondo del evento Canelo-Bivol que se producirá el día 7 de mayo en el T-Mobile Arena de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, de modo que este enfrentamiento del peso máximo tendrá una gran exposición.
Hay que recordar que el ganador de la eliminatoria se convertirá en retador obligatorio IBF del monarca unificado ucraniano Oleksandr Usyk, si bien no es descartable que, teniendo en cuenta la implicación del campeón en el conflicto que vive su país, la defensa oficial se vea aplazada bastante o que incluso se pueda crear un provisional título interino mientras no puede exponer sus cintos.
En cualquier caso, a diferencia de tantos otros boxeadores clasificados que vagan sin rumbo en la división esperando que alguien les dé una oportunidad, el vencedor del Hrgović-Zhang tendrá asegurado un campeonato mundial en la categoría máxima. Además, sin perder más el tiempo con peleas carentes de sentido y de interés, ambos boxeadores se pondrán a prueba de manera definitiva ante un rival con aspiraciones y mostrarán al mundo cuál es su grado de amenaza al trono unificado de Usyk.

The wait will have worth it for Croatian Filip Hrgović, who for months searched for a boxer willing to fight him in an IBF heavyweight eliminator. After multiple proposals rejected by the ranked boxers, finally the Chinese Zhilei Zhang agreed to face him, and then Matchroom Boxing decided to include this confrontation in one of its most important evenings of the year.
As Keith Idec has first reported, the Hrgović-Zhang will be the co-feature for the Canelo-Bivol event that will take place on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States, so this heavyweight confrontation will have a great exposure.
It must be remembered that the winner of this eliminator will become the mandatory IBF challenger for the Ukrainian unified titlist Oleksandr Usyk. However it is possible, taking into account the involvement of the champion in the conflict in his country, that the mandatory defense will be postponed quite a bit or that even a provisional interim title could be created while he cannot defend his belts.
In any case, unlike so many other ranked boxers wandering in the division waiting for someone to give them a chance, the winner of the Hrgović-Zhang bout will have guaranted a world championship. Also, with no more time wasted on pointless and uninteresting fights, both boxers will put themselves to test against an opponent with aspirations and show the world how much of a threat they are to Usyk’s unified throne.
