Tyson Fury, Canelo y Ryan García favoritos en las apuestas de partida sobre Whyte, Bivol y Tagoe

El pasado fin de semana, uno repleto de actividad boxística, fue el momento utilizado para anunciar oficialmente tres enfrentamientos con mucha repercusión mediática: el campeonato mundial WBC del peso pesado Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte, el mundial WBA del peso semipesado Dmitry Bivol vs. Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez y el duelo del peso ligero Ryan García vs. Emmanuel Tagoe, choques que se producirán en un mes de margen.
Tras estas confirmaciones se han publicado ya las apuestas de partida para estos duelos, algo que nos da información interesante sobre cómo ven los bookies estos enfrentamientos. Cronológicamente, el primero de ellos que se producirá será el duelo García-Tagoe, el 9 de abril, pugna en el que García es favorito de forma amplia, pagándose de momento 1,06 € por su victoria y 8 € por la de Tagoe. Dicho de otro modo, las posibilidades del no favorito se consideran muy bajas a pesar de su racha de victorias.
Posteriormente tendrá lugar el 23 de abril el choque Fury-Whyte, pugna para la que hay diferentes cuotas, si bien una que se puede encontrar con facilidad es 1,14 € para Fury y 5,0 € por el triunfo de Whyte, aunque hay cuotas todavía más desfavorables para éste. Por lo tanto, a pesar de que muchos consideran a Whyte uno de los mejores contendientes de la categoría (algo cuestionable) y un retador muy peligroso, lo cierto es que está a una diferencia grande para un choque que se ha vendido como una confrontanción histórica en el boxeo británico. De hecho, no es raro ver cada semana a púgiles competentes y tenaces pero con un nivel inferior al del campeón al que van a retar estando más cerca en las apuestas que Whyte de Fury.
Por último, el día 7 de mayo tendrá lugar el mundial semipesado entre Dmitry Bivol y Canelo Álvarez, pelea en la que se pagan 3,5 € por Bivol y 1,24 € por Canelo. Así, teniendo en cuenta que el mexicano asciende de división y que será favorito pese a ser retador, algo que no se da de forma muy habitual si no se tiene gran confianza en la victoria del aspirante, las casas de apuestas parecen considerar muy probable el triunfo de Álvarez.

Last weekend, one full of boxing activity, was the moment chosen to officially announce three clashes that will have a lot of media coverage: the WBC world heavyweight championship Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte, the WBA light heavyweight world championship Dmitry Bivol vs. Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and the lightweight duel Ryan García vs. Emmanuel Tagoe, bouts that will take place in a lapse of time of a month.
After these confirmations, the initial betting odds for these duels have been published, and they give us interesting information about how the bookies see these confrontations. Chronologically, the first of fights will be the García-Tagoe, on April 9, a match in which García is the wide favorite, 1/16 over Tagoe 7/1. In other words, the underdog’s chances are considered very low despite his winning streak.
The Fury-Whyte clash will take place on April 23, a contest for which there are different odds, although one that can be easily found is 1/6 for Fury and 4/1 for Whyte. However there are even less favorable odds for the underdog. Therefore, despite the fact that many consider Whyte one of the best contenders in the division (somewhat questionable) and a very dangerous challenger, the truth is that he is at a big difference from the champion in a clash that has been sold as a historic confrontation for British boxing. In fact, it is not uncommon to see every week competent and tenacious fighters but with a lower level than the champion they are going to challenge being closer in the bets than Whyte is to Fury.
Lastly, on May 7 will take place the light heavyweight world championship between Dmitry Bivol and Canelo Álvarez, a fight in which Bivol is underdog at 5/2 and Canelo has odds of 1/4. Thus, taking into account that the Mexican is moving up a division and that he will be a favorite despite being the challenger, something that does not happen very often unless there are great confidence in the victory of the contender, the bookmakers seem to consider Alvarez win very likely.
