Aunque es un boxeador que quizás ha pasado desapercibido para muchos, el peso crucero cubano Lenar Pérez 10(10KO)-0 es un prospecto a tener en cuenta en la división, algo que dejó bien claro anoche. Y es que este bronce nacional cubano y oro nacional juvenil como amateur obtuvo una gran victoria en cuatro asaltos sobre el invicto ruso Rashid Kodzoev 8(5KO)-1(1).
Con una excelente fluidez de desplazamiento y un afiladísimo jab, Pérez empezó a evitar manos y a sacudir la cabeza del fuerte Kodzoev, que intentó presionar frontal buscando golpes de poder curvos. Con uno de ellos logró su mayor éxito en la pelea al final del primer round, ya que Kodzoev conectó un inesperado gancho zurdo a la contra que hizo tambalearse un tanto a Pérez.
No obstante, más allá de este susto y de algunos potentes hooks que lanzó en corta el voluntarioso local, Kodzoev fue en líneas generales sobrepasado por los directos de mano adelantada, los uno-dos y las fugaces combinaciones de Pérez, que provocó un corte en su rival y que continuó moviendo hacia atrás su cabeza con su precisión y contundencia. De todos modos, el valiente Kodzoev, aunque le faltaba movimiento de cintura y cabeza y estaba cada vez en mayor inferioridad, continuó avanzando e intentando conectar puños potentes hasta que en el cuarto round las excelentes combinaciones de Pérez le debilitaron y le estremecieron, haciendo inevitable la detención arbitral.
Este era el mayor test hasta la fecha para Pérez, y éste cumplió con nota, mostrando su habilidad e incluso su capacidad de recuperación tras la adversidad, de modo que será necesario estar atentos para ver cómo avanza y se desarrolla en sus próximos pasos adelante en la categoría.
