Ángel Rodríguez ganó eliminatoria contra Mark Urvanov. Kozlovsky brilló en choque de prospectos

Dado que el proceso de reducción de campeones WBA avanza lento, no está claro cuánto va a tener que esperar el venezolano Ángel “Humildad” Rodríguez 20(10KO)-1 para alcanzar el mayor combate de su carrera. De todos modos, por el momento Rodríguez se situó en la parte alta de ranking venciendo por cuestionable decisión dividida una eliminatoria contra el ruso Mark Urvanov 20(10KO)-3-1.
Las acciones se estaban desarrollando bastante tácticas hasta que en el segundo asalto Rodríguez estremeció con una mano diestra a Urvanov, produciéndose entonces algunos peligrosos intercambios. Con todo, Rodríguez no aprovechó la situación, y el duelo se volvió a enfriar mucho, pudiendo utilizar Urvanov entonces algunos jabs y esquivas de cintura que decantaron las acciones ante su rival, que se mostró bastante inactivo.
El ruso acumuló moral y con derechas arriba, ganchos zurdos abajo y directos de mano adelantada pareció crear una ventaja en las tarjetas. Por lo tanto, hacia la mitad era necesario un ajuste por parte de Rodríguez, aunque en líneas generales mantuvo su planteamiento muy comedido y sus ataques erraron muchas manos. En ocasiones, el venezolano conectó buenas derechas, pero dio la sensación de no estar aprovechando sus ventajas ante un Urvanov que no es extraordinariamente hábil pese a la sobrecofianza que muestra.
El local continuó efectuando frecuentes esquivas y mostrando mayor precisión en largos tramos, pero aunque Rodríguez tuvo por lo general una actuación floja, nada espectacular y en la que gestionó muy mal los tiempos de round, los jueces terminaron premiando su contundencia y penalizando los descuidos defensivos de Urvanov.
Kozlovsky logró estupenda victoria
Antes del semifondo se desarrolló el muy interesante combate del peso superligero entre los prospectos Ivan Kozlovsky 4(2KO)-0 y Zoravor Petrosyan 12(5KO)-1, combate en el que el invicto consiguió una gran victoria, por su escasa experiencia profesional, por el nivel de su rival y por el boxeo mostrado. Aun así, por culpa de uno de los jueces, Kozlovsky sólo se impuso de forma dividida.
La calidad técnica, la rapidez y los reflejos de Kozlovsky le permitieron conectar eficaces y fluidas combinaciones contra Petrosyan que, pese a ser un boxeador hábil, se vio obligado a apoyarse en su fortaleza y ambición para intentar mantener las acciones igualadas. Con todo, aunque en el cuerpo a cuerpo Petrosyan llegó con algunos potentes puños, Kozlovsky brilló al contragolpe de forma consistente tanto con aislados puños de francotirador como con velocísimas y variadas combinaciones en corta. Además, todo ello el invicto lo acompañó con plásticas esquivas y un excelente juego de piernas.
Por ello, si bien Petrosyan mostró sus aptitudes con agresivas ofensivas, por lo general se vio desbordado por la destreza de Kozlovsky, que tuvo momentos de tanto dominio que hicieron inevitable ser optimista sobre el nivel que podría alcanzar una vez que expanda su bagaje profesional.

As the process of reducing WBA champions is slow, it is not clear how long the Venezuelan Ángel “Humildad” Rodríguez 19(10KO)-1 will have to wait to reach the biggest fight of his career. In any case, for the moment Rodríguez has reached a position in the upper part of the WBA ranking by winning an eliminator against the Russian Mark Urvanov 20(10KO)-2-1 by questionable split decision.
The actions were quite tactical in the beginning until in the second round Rodríguez shook Urvanov with a right hand, something that was followed by dangerous exchanges. However, Rodríguez did not took advantage of the situation, and the duel cooled down again, so Urvanov was then able to use some jabs and dodges to win rounds to his rival, who was quite inactive.
The Russian built up confidence and, with right hands to the head, left hooks down and stiff jabs, it seemed that he was creating an advantage on the scorecards. Therefore, towards the mid point it was necessary and adjustment by Rodríguez, although generally he maintained his measured approach and missed many punches. On occasions the Venezuelan landed good right hands, but he looked tactically lost and he didn’t use his advantage properly against Urvanov, who is not extraordinarily skillful despite the overconfidence he shows.
The local continued making frequent dodges and showing greater precision in long stretches, but although Rodríguez generally had a weak and nothing spectacular performance, in which he managed the times of the round very badly, the judges ended up rewarding his forcefulness and penalizing the defensive mistakes of Urvanov.
Kozlovsky achieved great victory
Before the undercard took place the very interesting super lightweight fight between prospects Ivan Kozlovsky 4(2KO)-0 and Zoravor Petrosyan 12(5KO)-1, a bout in which the unbeaten achieved a great victory taking into account his lack of professional experience, the splendid boxing he shown and the level of his rival. Still, due to one of the judges, Kozlovsky only won by split decision.
Kozlovsky’s technical quality, speed and reflexes allowed him to land efficient and fluid combinations against Petrosyan who, despite being a skilled boxer, was forced to rely on his strength and ambition to try to keep the actions even. Still, while at close range Petrosyan connected some powerful punches, Kozlovsky consistently shone counterattacking with sniper punches and very fast and varied combinations. In addition to it, the undefeated accompanied all this with great defensive actions and excellent footwork.
Thus, while Petrosyan showed his aptitudes with aggressive attacks, he was often overwhelmed by the prowess of Kozlovsky, who had moments of such dominance that it was inevitable to be optimistic about the level he could reach once he expands his professional experience.
