Andrade will not have to vacate his belt to fight Parker. The WBO creates interim in the middleweight and orders Alimkhanuly-Falcao

Once again it has become clear that certain boxers receive benefits while others not have even their rights guaranteed. On many occasions, a boxer who had received the official defense order and was planning a fight in another division has been forced to abandon his title, but this is not what the WBO has considered most profitable for the organization and for its world middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade.

Although several media outlets stated that it was practically certain that Andrade was going to give up his middleweight title, this will no longer be necessary, since the WBO has intervened to create a provisional interim middleweight belt for which will have to fight mandatory challenger Zhanibek Alimkhanuly and the Brazilian Esquiva Falcao. That way, Andrade would circumvent for the time being his very difficult mandatory defense against the Kazakh Alimkhanuly without losing his title.

It must be remembered that Alimkhanuly had guaranteed his position as mandatory middleweight challenger, that the negotiations with the champion had been orderedand that they were heading for a purse bid before Andrade decided to seek an interim title fight at super middleweight against Zach Parker. Therefore, the decision of the WBO is more than questionable.

On the other hand, regarding Andrade, he has received the fight he wanted for the interim WBO super middleweight title against Zach Parker, with whom he will now have 10 days to complete an agreement before a purse bid with minimum offers of $300,000. Alimkhanuly and Falcao will also have the same time frame to agree on their fight, with the minimum offer for the middleweight division in the event of purse bid being $200,000.

In short, it is striking that a boxer who has regretted so much that people «avoid» him has run out of a fight in which he had a great risk of being defeated, once again stalling a division in which he reigns. All this while being awarded an elimination fight against Parker, who already had in his possession the position of mandatory super middleweight challenger.
