Keith Thurman afirma que su combate contra Mario Barrios será una eliminatoria WBC del peso wélter

Habiéndose revelado que el PPV del Keith “One Time” Thurman vs. Mario “El Azteca” Barrios del 5 de febrero costará 75 dólares, muchos se han mostrado cuanto menos dubitativos en cuanto a la posibilidad de comprarlo. Y es que, si bien en el respaldo participarán también nombres como Leo Santa Cruz y Luis Nery, el precio parece excesivo teniendo en cuenta que es el mismo coste que han tenido carteleras de mucho más relieve.
Sea como sea, quizás a algunos les interese un poco más el duelo principal ahora que Thurman ha señalado a través de FOX Sports que será una eliminatoria del peso wélter. Según ha explicado el púgil estadounidense, oficiales del WBC se pusieron en contacto con él para solicitarle un pesaje una semana antes del combate, lo que en opinión de Thurman significa indudablemente que, no teniendo ningún cinturón mundial del Consejo y habiendo existido la conversación de que su pelea ante Barrios podía ser una antesala mundialista, finalmente se ha materializado la eliminatoria.
De ser esto cierto, el ganador del Thurman-Barrios quedaría al alcance de una pelea ante el vencedor de la unificación Spence vs. Ugás, objetivo que “One Time” afirma que es su prioridad para su siguiente subida al ring en la segunda mitad del año.
La posible realización de una súbita eliminatoria en el peso wélter chocaría en teoría con lo designado por el Consejo en su convención, puesto que tanto ordenó una eliminatoria entre David Avanesyan y Vergil Ortiz como estipuló otra futura eliminatoria entre Alexander Besputin y el vencedor del cruce Thulani Mbenge vs. Eduard Skavynskiy. Así que deberemos esperar para empezar a ver la situación desenmarañarse.

Having been revelead that the Keith «One Time» Thurman vs. Mario «El Azteca» Barrios PPV on February 5 will cost 75 dollars, many fans are hesitant about buying it. Although names like Leo Santa Cruz and Luis Nery will also be part of the card in the support, the price of the PPV seems excessive considering that it is the same price that much more prominent bills have had.
Regardless, perhaps some are a little more interested in the main matchup now that Thurman has affirmed to FOX Sports that it will be a welterweight eliminator.
