Aunque Carlos Ocampo no estaba clasificado en el ranking WBO del peso superwélter cuando se confirmó su pelea contra Tim Tszyu, se esperaba que recibiese un permiso especial para que pudiese pelear por el título interino que posee el australiano. Efectivamente, así ha sido, habiendo hecho público la WBO que da su aprobación al enfrentamiento. De todos modos, la información más importante del documento en el que se daba el visto bueno al Tszyu-Ocampo llegaba al delimitar la fecha en la que el ganador se deberá enfrentar al monarca Jermell Charlo. Y es que la WBO ha estipulado que la pelea contra Charlo se deberá llevar a cabo antes del 30 de septiembre.
Por otro lado, la WBO también ha solicitado información médica al nuevo monarca mundial del peso gallo Jason Moloney. Este se fracturó su mano derecha durante la pugna contra Astrolabio (lo que explica que casi no la usase en el combate), de modo que no podrá defender su cinturón en el futuro próximo. De ese modo, la WBO quiere conocer el pronóstico de la lesión y la opinión médica respecto a cuándo estará listo para volver a combatir. Si Moloney tuviese que estar fuera del ring durante mucho tiempo, esto podría llevar a la creación de un cinturón interino provisional.

Although Carlos Ocampo was not ranked in the WBO super welterweight list when his fight against Tim Tszyu was confirmed, he was expected to receive a special permit to fight for the Australian’s interim title. Indeed, the WBO has publicly stated that it gives its approval to the fight. In any case, the most important information in the document in which the Tszyu-Ocampo bout was approved came when defining the time lapse on which the winner must face the champion Jermell Charlo: the WBO has decided that the fight against Charlo must take place before September 30.
On the other hand, the WBO has also requested medical information from the new bantamweight world champion Jason Moloney. He broke his right hand during his fight against Astrolabio (which explains why he hardly used it in the match), so he won’t be able to defend his belt in the near future. In this way, the WBO wants to know the prognosis of the injury and the medical opinion regarding when he will be ready to fight again. If Moloney were to be out of the ring for many months, it could lead to the creation of a provisional interim belt.
