Tim Tszyu disputará otro rodaje más antes de pelear contra Charlo, Goodman-Aleem y Wilson-Ramírez en el respaldo

En esta ocasión, el australiano Tim Tszyu 22(16KO)-0, aspirante obligatorio WBO del peso superwélter, no afrontará una pelea tan exigente como cuando se midió a Tony Harrison el pasado marzo, pero sólo tres meses después volverá a subirse al ring. Ha sido confirmado oficialmente que Tszyu pondrá en juego su cinturón interino WBO peleando el 18 de junio en el Gold Coast Convention Centre de Gold Coast, Australia, contra el mexicano Carlos “Chema” Ocampo 34(22KO)-2(1).
Desde su rapidísimo tropiezo ante Errol Spence en 2018, Ocampo encadenó doce triunfos, destacando el que obtuvo en Canadá contra Mikael Zewski, antes de enfrentarse a Sebastián Fundora el pasado octubre, ante el cual aguantó todos los asaltos y ganó algunos. Así, si bien ni mucho menos es un oponente del máximo nivel, Ocampo es un púgil por lo general competente, que está rodado y que todavía es joven, de modo que no es un muy mal rival dadas las circunstancias.
Es decir, muy a menudo los aspirantes insignes esperan inactivos durante meses y meses a que les llegue la oportunidad mundialista, por lo que el hecho de que Tszyu prefiera combatir dos veces en tres meses de margen, aunque no sea ante un oponente de élite, es algo verdaderamente encomiable y que dice mucho de su ambición y determinación.
Al margen del Tszyu-Ocampo, la cartelera ofrecerá dos peleas destacables más. Una de ellas será una eliminatoria IBF del peso supergallo en la que el destacado prospecto local Sam Goodman 14(7KO)-0, tras vencer al excampeón mundial TJ Doheny, buscará asegurarse el acceso a su primer campeonato peleando contra un muy buen boxeador como el estadounidense Ra’eese Aleem 20(12KO)-0. La otra será una pugna en la que el exretador mundial del peso superpluma, el australiano Liam Wilson 11(7KO)-2(2), que llega de anotarse un knockdown ante Emanuel Navarrete (aunque este último finalmente lo derrotó), se enfrentará al mexicano Eduardo “Zurdito” Ramírez 27(12KO)-3(1)-3, que también tratará de regresar a la senda del triunfo, en su caso después de su derrota ante Isaac Cruz.

This time, Australian Tim Tszyu 22(16KO)-0, WBO super welterweight mandatory challenger, won’t face as hard a fight as he did when he battled Tony Harrison last March, but only three months later he will be back in the ring. It has been officially confirmed that Tszyu will put his interim WBO belt on the line fighting on June 18 at the Gold Coast Convention Center in Gold Coast, Australia, against Mexican Carlos «Chema» Ocampo 34 (22KO)-2(1).
Since his very quick setback against Errol Spence in 2018, Ocampo scored twelve wins, highlighting the one he obtained in Canada against Mikael Zewski, before facing Sebastián Fundora last October, against whom he endured all the rounds and won some of them. So while he’s by no means a top-tier opponent, Ocampo is a generally competent fighter who has had recent activity and who is still young, so he’s not a very bad opponent taking into account what is the situation.
That is to say, very often standout contenders just remain idle for months and months waiting a world title opportunity, so the fact that Tszyu prefers to fight twice in a three-month span, even if it is not against an elite boxer, it is something truly commendable and that says a lot about his ambition and determination.
Apart from Tszyu-Ocampo, the card will offer two more notable fights. The other will be a super featherweight clash in which former world challenger, Australian Liam Wilson 11(7KO)-2(2), who is coming from scoring a knockdown against Emanuel Navarrete (although the latter finally defeated him), will face Mexican Eduardo «Zurdito» Ramírez 27(12KO)-3(1)-3, who will also try to return to winning ways, in his case after his loss to Isaac Cruz.
