Para poder seguir adelante con su carrera con la mente tranquila, el británico Joe Joyce quería, y necesitaba, volver a enfrentarse al chino Zhilei Zhang. Por ello, que la revancha iba a suceder era algo incuestionable, si bien la gran pregunta era cuándo se iba a producir, señalando algunos que antes de ella Joyce iba a tener una pelea de preparación. Con todo, finalmente, menos de un mes después de la derrota que padeció el 15 de abril, Joyce y su equipo se han decidido ya, activando la cláusula de revancha para volver a pelear contra Zhang.
Este movimiento conlleva consecuencias importantes para los planes de Zhang, ya que éste supuestamente estaba inmerso en negociaciones para enfrentarse a Tyson Fury. Así, en opinión de algunos, Joyce sólo ha activado la cláusula de revancha para intentar forzar que le paguen una cantidad por un acuerdo de step-aside, mientras que otros señalan que simplemente quiere medirse a Zhang antes de que éste pueda sufrir una derrota que le quitase valor al triunfo que buscará en la revancha.
De todos modos, no hay que perder de vista que las palabras de Tyson Fury tienen escaso valor teniendo en cuenta sus repentinos y bruscos cambios de opinión y su tendencia a mentir de forma constante, por lo que tampoco hay que ver las negociaciones entre éste y Zhang como algo que habría desembocado inevitablemente en un acuerdo por un deseo real de “Gypsy King” de enfrentarse al chino.
En cuanto al aspecto deportivo de la revancha Zhang-Joyce, muchos piensan que la pugna terminará de forma similar a la primera debido a la atroz gestión defensiva y táctica del británico. Sin embargo, Joyce tiene una muy seria opción de victoria, e incluso podría ser visto como el favorito, si aprovecha de la forma adecuada que él tiene una resistencia al cansancio infinitamente mejor a la de un Zhang demasiado pesado y que se desgasta en muy pocos rounds.

In order to continue his career with a calm mind, the British Joe Joyce wanted, and needed, to face the Chinese Zhilei Zhang again. Therefore, that the rematch was going to happen was unquestionable, although the big question was when it was going to take place, some pointing out that before it Joyce was going to face a tune-up fight. However, finally, less than a month after the defeat he suffered on April 15, Joyce and his team have already made up their minds and have activated the rematch clause to fight Zhang again.
This move carries important consequences for Zhang’s plans, since he was supposedly in negotiations to face Tyson Fury. Thus, in the opinion of some, Joyce has only activated the rematch clause to try to force being paid step-aside money, while others point out that he simply wants to face Zhang before he can suffer a defeat that would detract from the win that he will seek in the rematch.
In any case, we must not lose sight of the fact that Tyson Fury’s words have little value taking into account his sudden and abrupt changes of opinion and his tendency to lie constantly, so the negotiations between him and Zhang should not be seen as something that would inevitably have lead to an agreement due to a real desire of the «Gypsy King» to face the Chinese boxer.
As for the boxing aspect of the Zhang-Joyce rematch, many think the bout will end similarly to the first, as the British fighter has an awful defense and serious tactical flaws. However, Joyce has a very serious chance of victory, and could even be seen as the favorite, if he takes advantage of the fact that he has an infinitely better stamina than Zhang, who is too heavy and wears out in very few rounds.
