Austin Williams y Campbell Hatton vencieron antes del límite

En el respaldo del Joshua-Franklin sólo había un par de combates más o menos bien emparejados, si bien Matchroom Boxing sorprendentemente decidió abrir la cartelera principal con uno de ellos en lugar de con los duelos de un solo lado de Hatton o Yafai… Sea como sea, el peso medio estadounidense Austin “Ammo” Williams 14(10KO)-0 hizo una vez más su parte en su competencia con Felix Cash y superó como visitante al británico River Wilson-Bent 14(6KO)-3(2)-1 con un KOT en el octavo asalto.
El zurdo Williams simplemente tenía demasiada precisión y velocidad de manos para Wilson-Bent, que fue golpeado por afilados directos de izquierda arriba y abajo además de por cruzados diestros y ganchos zurdos al cuerpo. El local hizo todo lo que pudo usando su jab, intentando sacar algún curvo en corta entre agarres y lanzando esporádicos pero oportunos directos diestros o uno-dos. Pero aunque “Ammo” se obsesionó demasiado buscando una mano de knockout, incluso cuando Wilson-Bent llegó con un recto, Williams le replicó con más contundencia inmediatamente.
A pesar de que los comentaristas británicos de DAZN hicieron un trabajo absolutamente patético, despreciando el trabajo de Williams constantemente, la superioridad del estadounidense era clara y en el séptimo round éste se anotó un knockdown con uno de sus duros izquierdazos ascendentes, aunque Wilson-Bent tiró el bucal para ganar tiempo y llegó al octavo round. En cualquier caso, Williams arrojó andanadas de golpes en dicho asalto hasta que forzó el lanzamiento de la toalla desde la esquina de su rival.
Ahora esta por ver si Matchroom Boxing mantendrá sus planes de hacer que Williams se enfrente a Felix Cash o si, viendo que este último ha perdido el rumbo, se le escogerá al primero otro camino. En este sentido, cabe destacar que Williams es 3º WBA del peso medio y que perfectamente su compañía podría pedirle una eliminatoria al organismo si lo desease.
Respecto al combate a medida para el peso ligero Campbell Hatton 11(4KO)-0, éste sólo necesitó un asalto para vencer a un Louis Fielding 10(1KO)-8(5) que ni siquiera intentó ganar. Poco después del comienzo, Hatton, conocido por su escasa pegada, impactó un gancho zurdo al torso que hizo a Fielding arrodillarse en la lona durante la cuenta completa.

On the Joshua-Franklin undercard there were only a couple of more or less well-matched fights, though Matchroom Boxing surprisingly decided to open the main card with one of them rather than the mismatches featuring Hatton or Yafai… Be that as it may, American middleweight Austin “Ammo” Williams 14(10KO)-0 once again did his part in his rivalry with Felix Cash and defeated the British River Wilson-Bent 14(6KO)-3(2)-1 on the road with an eight-round TKO.
The southpaw Williams simply had too much precision and hand speed for Wilson-Bent, who was hit by sharp straight lefts up and down as well as lead hooks and left body shots. The local did everything he could using his jab, trying to land some short hooks between holds and throwing sporadic but well-timed right hands or one-twos. But while “Ammo” became a bit obsessed with looking for a knockout hand, even when Wilson-Bent connected a good straight punch, Williams fired back immediately.
Despite DAZN commentators did an absolutely pathetic job constantly underrating Williams’ work, the American’s superiority was clear and in the seventh round he scored a knockdown with a hard left hook, although Wilson-Bent threw his mouthpiece to the canvas to buy time and reached the eighth round. However, Williams fired barrages of punches in that round until he forced his opponent’s corner to throw the towel.
Now it remains to be seen if Matchroom Boxing will maintain its plan to match Williams with Felix Cash or if, seeing that the latter has lost his way, Hearn will choose another path for the former. In this sense, it should be noted that Williams is WBA number 3 at middleweight and that his promotional company could perfectly ask the organization for an eliminator if they wished to do so.
Regarding Campbell Hatton’s 11(4KO)-0 tailor-made fight, he only needed one round to defeat Louis Fielding 10(1KO)-8(5), who did not even try to win. Shortly after the start, Hatton, a boxer known for his lack of punch, landed a left hook to the torso that sent Fielding to his knees for the full count.
