No sólo existe impunidad para los dopados sino que parece que incluso se les premia. Así, en su segundo combate desde que dio positivo por dos esteroides (en el primero hizo todas las marrullerías posibles, que fueron permitidas por el árbitro), el canadiense Jean Pascal 36(20KO)-6(2)-1 combatirá este jueves en una eliminatoria final IBF del peso semipesado ante el alemán Michael Eifert 11(4KO)-1.
Este combate, el estelar de un evento en el Place Bell de Laval, Canadá, emitido por ESPN+, elegirá por lo tanto a otro aspirante obligatorio más para Artur Beterbiev, partiendo como favorito un Pascal que, más allá de su limpieza o no, peleará como local ante un Eifert sin experiencia de calidad y por debajo del nivel continental europeo.
En el respaldo, el exranqueado del peso superligero Mathieu Germain 21(9KO)-2(2)-1 intentará ingresar en el ranking IBF capturando un título menor ante su compatriota Steven Wilcox 24(7KO)-3-1, que no pierde desde 2018, mientras que la exretadora mundial del peso superligero Jessica Camara 10(2KO)-3(1) buscará seguir alejándose del robo que padeció ante Kali Reis peleando contra una boxeadora de récord engañoso como la mexicana Karla Ramos Zamora 9(2KO)-9(1)-1, que llega de empatar ante la muy complicada Magali Rodríguez.
Por otro lado, también el jueves, UFC Fight Pass televisará una cartelera desde el Agganis Arena de Boston, Estados Unidos. Esta tendrá combates menos interesantes que otras veces, pero se pueden mencionar un par: en el estelar el prospecto del peso superwélter Callum Walsh 5(4KO)-0 afrontará su primer choque a diez asaltos ante el sustituto Wesley Tucker 15(9KO)-4(2) y en el respaldo los pesos semipesados Kendrick Ball Jr. 19(12KO)-1-3 y Mike Stegall 7(3KO)-0-3 se verán las caras en un encuentro mejor emparejado de lo que podría parecer mirando sólo a sus números.
Viernes 17 de marzo
En un viernes realmente flojo, sólo se pueden mencionar tres choques, siendo el único verdaderamente destacable un campeonato británico por el vacante cinturón del peso supermosca que tendrá lugar en el Town Hall de Dudley, Reino Unido, en principio emitido por YouTube. En este encuentro se verán las caras Iljaz Ahmed 10(1KO)-2-2, más conocido por su insatisfactoria trilogía ante Quaise Khademi (ante éste sumó dos empates), y Marcel Braithwaite 14(0KO)-3, más conocido por sus derrotas por decisión ante Sunny Edwards y Jay Harris. Es decir, dos púgiles capaces pero que no han tenido los más exitosos de los recorridos combatirán en un bien emparejado cruce de caminos en el que quien gane al fin logrará impulsarse hacia una nueva fase en su carrera.
Por lo demás, queda por hacer referencia a un choque del peso ligero en el Verite Social Venue de Monterrey, México, en el que el pegador colombiano Ibran “El Asesino” Retamozo 13(10KO)-0 afrontará un paso adelante ante el joven mexicano Ernesto “Silencioso” Gutiérrez 6(4KO)-3(2)-1, que viene de dar una sorpresa con un KO sobre Jesús Roberto Acosta; y una pugna del peso supergallo en el Priory Grand Hall de Pittsburgh, Estados Unidos, en la que el ucraniano, 10º WBA, Oleh Dovhun 14(5KO)-0 pondrá fin a un año de inactividad combatiendo contra el nicaragüense Juan Centeno 8(1KO)-6(2)-3, que se ha enfrentado a cinco invictos en sus últimos cinco combates, ganando a tres, empatando con un uno y perdiendo ajustadamente con otro.
Sábado 18 de marzo
DAZN seguirá su negativa línea reciente este sábado, puesto que ofrecerá otras dos veladas más con combates de un solo lado y en las que no vale la pena profundizar demasiado.
Por un lado, desde el Utilita Arena de Newcastle, Reino Unido, Matchroom Boxing organizará una velada menor en la que el prospecto del peso wélter Cyrus Pattinson 5(3KO)-0, si no se deja arrastrar por sus excesos de confianza, debería poder vencer en su paso adelante ante el fogueado Chris Jenkins 23(8KO)-6(2)-3, que ha perdido tres de sus últimos cuatro combates, dos de ellos antes del límite.
En el respaldo los favoritos lo serán con todavía mayor margen, puesto que el hábil peso supergallo Hopey Price 9(3KO)-0 se enfrentará al veterano francés Thomas Masson 20(7KO)-5(1)-1 que sólo ha boxeador cuatro veces en los últimos cinco años y medio y el peso pesado Solomon Dacres 5(1KO)-0 buscará coronarse campeón inglés ante un Robert Ismay 11(4KO)-0 que, pese a estar invicto y tener más peleas, no tiene experiencia de calidad y no se puede comparar en cuanto a proyección.
Respecto a la otra cartelera de DAZN, esta la organizará Golden Boy desde el Walter Pyramid de Long Beach, Estados Unidos. En el combate estelar, el peso semipesado Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez 44(30KO)-1, que viene de ser totalmente controlado por Dmitriy Bivol, regresará a la senda del triunfo ante un Gabriel Rosado 25(15KO)-16(4)-1 castigadísimo (hacia 2014 ya se decía que había recibido demasiados puños) y que encima asciende de división. En el semifondo el peso ligero Joseph “Jo Jo” Díaz 32(15KO)-3-1 también sumará un triunfo, en su caso para alejarse de dos derrotas, pugnando contra un veterano Mercito Gesta 33(17KO)-3(1)-1 que hace media década que dejó atrás su mejor momento y que disputó su primer mundial allá por 2012.
Así, realmente los combates mejor emparejados de este cartel serán las peleas del inicio de la cartelera principal, ya que el peso ligero Óscar Duarte 24(19KO)-1-1 y el peso superwélter Eric Tudor 7(6KO)-0 afrontarán pasos adelante, respectivamente, ante Alex Martin 18(6KO)-4 y Damoni Cato-Cain 7(6KO)-0-1.
Por número de nombres conocidos, también destaca la velada que se producirá en el Agenda Arena de Dubái, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, si bien el choque principal será un duelo de esteroides en la división de los pesos pesados entre Jarrell Miller 25(21KO)-0-1 y Lucas Browne 31(27KO)-3(3), siendo realmente lo único positivo del encuentro que al menos esta vez no pondrán en riesgo la salud de un boxeador limpio.
Acompañando a este encuentro, el 5º WBA del peso superpluma Jono Carroll 23(7KO)-2-1 se medirá al exretador mundial cerca del retiro Miguel Marriaga 30(26KO)-6(1); el peso crucero estadounidense Brandon Glanton 17(14KO)-1 intentará recuperarse de su única y controvertida derrota peleando contra el invicto ruso Soslan Asbarov 3(1KO)-0; y el peso pesado (¿o peso puente?) Ruslan Fayfer 27(18KO)-4(3)-1 tratará de, una vez más, estabilizar algo su recorrido peleando contra el mexicano Germán García 8(8KO)-4(2), que viene de dar una sorpresa ante un púgil con récord inflado.
Por lo demás, el sábado también se producirán estos otros combates:
-En el Emperors Palace de Kempton Park, Sudáfrica, el joven peso superwélter Roarke Knapp 15(11KO)-1(1) buscará explotar su triunfo sobre Dante Jardón y continuar su racha combatiendo contra el francés Ahmed El Mousaoui 34(8KO)-4-1.
-En L’Arena de Gagny, Francia, emitido por TyC Sports, el jovencísimo e invicto peso superwélter Bakary Samake 10(6KO)-0 dará un enorme paso adelante combatiendo contra el argentino Lucas Bastida 19(11KO)-2(1)-1.
-En Halifax, Canadá, el prometedor peso superligero Movladdin Biyarslanov 11(9KO)-0 se enfrentará a un mexicano con buenas actuaciones como visitante como Erick Encinia 15(6KO)-7(3)-1, si bien llega a la pelea tras una rápida derrota.
-En el Instituto Superior Particular Incorporado Paul Harris de Roldán, Argentina, TyC Sports televisará un campeonato argentino por el vacante cinturón supermedio en el que Pablo Corzo 13(12KO)-0 será muy claro favorito para volver a derrotar a Facundo Galovar 15(9KO)-8(1)-2.
-En el Hotel El Panama de Ciudad de Panamá, Panamá, el veterano extitular secundario WBA Nehomar Cermeño 27(16KO)-8(3)-1 pondrá fin a una inactividad de un año y medio peleando por el cinturón nacional panameño del peso superpluma ante el joven Jaime Muñoz 13(9KO)-1-1.

Thursday, March 16
Not only is there impunity for doping, but it seems that the cheaters are even rewarded. Thus, in his second fight since he tested positive for two steroids (in the first he did all kind of illegal actions, which were allowed by the referee), Canadian Jean Pascal 36(20KO)-6(2)-1 will battle this Thursday in an IBF light heavyweight final eliminator against German Michael Eifert 11(4KO)-1.
This fight, the main event of an evening at the Place Bell in Laval, Canada, broadcast by ESPN+, will therefore choose another mandatory challenger for Artur Beterbiev. The favorite will be Pascal who, regardless of whether he is clean or not, will fight at home against a boxer without quality experience and below the European continental level.
On the undercard, former super lightweight ranked boxer Mathieu Germain 21(9KO)-2(2)-1 will attempt to return to the rankings by capturing a minor title against his compatriot Steven Wilcox 24(7KO)-3-1, who hasn’t lost since 2018, while former world super lightweight challenger Jessica Camara 10(2KO)-3(1) will seek to continue moving away from the robbery she suffered against Kali Reis by fighting a boxer with a misleading record like the Mexican Karla Ramos Zamora 9(2KO)-9(1)-1, who comes from a draw against a difficult opponent as Magali Rodríguez.
On the other hand, also on Thursday, UFC Fight Pass will televise a bill from the Agganis Arena in Boston, United States. This one will have less interesting fights than previous cards, but a couple of bouts can be mentioned: in the main event, super welterweight prospect Callum Walsh 5(4KO)-0 will face his first ten-round clash against substitute Wesley Tucker 15(9KO)-4(2) and in the support light heavyweights Kendrick Ball Jr. 19(12KO)-1-3 and Mike Stegall 7(3KO)-0-3 will meet in a better matched fight than it might seem just looking at their numbers.

On a really weak Friday, only three fights can be highlighted. The only truly remarkable one will be a British championship for the vacant super flyweight belt that will take place at the Town Hall in Dudley, United Kingdom, in theory broadcast on YouTube. In this match, Iljaz Ahmed 10(1KO)-2-2, better known for his unsatisfactory trilogy against Quaise Khademi (against him he scored two draws), and Marcel Braithwaite 14(0KO)-3, better known for his decision defeats against Sunny Edwards and Jay Harris, will face each other. That is to say, two fighters who are capable but who have not had successes in their biggest opportunities will battle in an interesting crossroads bout in which whoever wins will finally be able to enter a new phase in his career.
For the rest, at the Verite Social Venue in Monterrey, Mexico, Colombian puncher Ibran «El Asesino» Retamozo 13(10KO)-0 will face a step forward in a lightweight fight against young Mexican Ernesto «Silencioso» Gutiérrez 6(4KO)-3(2)-1, who comes from an upset KO win over Jesús Roberto Acosta; and at the Priory Grand Hall in Pittsburgh, United States, Ukrainian super bantamweight, WBA number 10, Oleh Dovhun 14(5KO)-0 will end a year of inactivity fighting against Nicaraguan Juan Centeno 8(1KO )-6(2)-3, who has faced five unbeaten boxers in his last five bouts, scoring three wins, one draw and a narrow defeat.

DAZN will continue its recent negative trend this Saturday, since it will broadcast another two more evenings with one-sided fights and which are not really worth analyzing with much detail.
On the one hand, from the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, United Kingdom, Matchroom Boxing will offer a lesser card in which welterweight prospect Cyrus Pattinson 5(3KO)-0, if he is not too overconfident, should be able to win his step up fight against seasoned Chris Jenkins 23(8KO)-6(2)-3, who has lost three of his last four bouts, two of them by stoppage.
On the undercard, there will be even wider favorites, as skilled super bantamweight Hopey Price 9(3KO)-0 will face French veteran Thomas Masson 20(7KO)-5(1)-1, who has only boxed four times in the last five and a half years, and heavyweight Solomon Dacres 5(1KO)-0 will try to conquer the English title against Robert Ismay 11(4KO)-0, who, despite being undefeated and having more bouts, does not have quality experience and does not have a comparable projection.
Regarding the other DAZN evening, this will be organized by Golden Boy in the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, United States. In the main fight, light heavyweight Gilberto «Zurdo» Ramírez 44(30KO)-1, who comes from being totally dominated by Dmitriy Bivol, will return to winning ways against a heavily punished boxer (around 2014 it was already said that he had received too many punches) who is moving up a division as Gabriel Rosado 25(15KO)-16(4)-1. Thus, really the best matched fights of this event will be the bouts at the beginning of the main card, since lightweight Óscar Duarte 24(19KO)-1-1 and super welterweight Eric Tudor 7(6KO)-0 will face steps up, respectively, against Alex Martin 18(6KO)-4 and Damoni Cato-Cain 7(6KO)-0-1.
Due to the number of well-known names, the evening that will take place at the Agenda Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, also stands out. However the main event will be a duel of steroids in the heavyweight division between Jarrell Miller 25(21KO)-0-1 and Lucas Browne 31(27KO)-3(3). Thus the only positive thing of this match is that at least this time they will not put the health of a clean boxer at risk.
Supporting this matchup, WBA number 5 super featherweight Jono Carroll 23(7KO)-2-1 will face a fighter close to retirement as former world title challenger Miguel Marriaga 30(26KO)-6(1); American cruiserweight Brandon Glanton 17(14KO)-1 will try to bounce back from his only and controversial loss by fighting undefeated Russian Soslan Asbarov 3(1KO)-0; and heavyweight (or bridgeweight?) Ruslan Fayfer 27(18KO)-4(3)-1 will try, once again, to stabilize his career somewhat by fighting Mexican Germán García 8(8KO)-4(2), who comes from an upset win.
