Tyler Denny retuvo su cinturón de Inglaterra ante otro invicto, Viddal Riley y Caroline Dubois vencieron por KOT

Tras sus triunfos sobre Derrick Osaze, River Wilson-Bent y Bradley Rea, el campeón de Inglaterra del peso medio Tyler Denny 16(0KO)-2(1)-3 sumó el sábado el nombre de otro invicto a su récord, siendo este el retador Brad “The Newquay Bomb” Pauls 16(9KO)-1. Denny se impuso en este duelo, parte del respaldo del evento de BOXXER, por decisión unánime y justas puntuaciones de 97-93, 97-93 y 98-93.
En un comienzo el zurdo Denny no estuvo tan activo de manos como acostumbra, y tampoco fue excesivamente preciso, llegando con algunos directos y ganchos abajo pero siendo alcanzado claramente por jabs y hooks de izquierda. No obstante, poco a poco el titular empezó a impactar buenos rectos y abiertos cruzados con los que Paul no lidió demasiado bien defensivamente y que le permitieron ponerse por delante. El retador no dejó de llegar con algunas contras nítidas esporádicas, pero cada vez el ritmo de Denny fue aumentando y la diferencia entre ambos se agrandó más.
A la vez que Pauls se fue desgastando y fue perdiendo velocidad y explosividad, Denny arremetió más, pero desordenadamente y con la cabeza por delante, por lo que se produjeron bastantes clinches que el campeón aprovechó para llegar con manos de corto recorrido. Al margen de esto, las combinaciones de Denny fueron llegando peligrosamente en la segunda mitad y, pese a los esfuerzos de Pauls, se aseguró una clara victoria a los puntos, que habría sido por KOT si tuviese algo de pegada.
Ahora Denny se ha convertido en aspirante obligatorio del campeón británico del peso medio Denzel Bentley, ante el que podría ofrecer un interesante choque si explota sus cualidades de la forma correcta.
Riley superó a Taj
Antes del Denny-Pauls, el imbatido peso crucero Viddal Riley 8(5KO)-0 derrotó por KOT en el cuarto asalto a Anees Taj 7(5KO)-3(1) en su primer combate pactado a ocho asaltos.
Con su superior velocidad de manos y su mejor técnica, Riley impactó su jab y contragolpeó con derechazos las entradas de un Taj voluntarioso pero previsible. El no favorito sacudió a su oponente con duros hooks en el segundo asalto, pero en adelante siguió recibiendo fuertes y precisos directos a la contra de Riley, que le provocó un serio corte en el ojo izquierdo con uno de sus puños diestros. Esta brecha llevó a la detención y le dio el triunfo a Riley tras una revisión del médico en el cuarto round.
Dubois logró fácil victoria
Pasando de medirse a la argentina Yamila Abellaneda a la sustituta tanzana Feriche Mashaury 10(3KO)-8(3), la prospecta británica del peso ligero “Sweet” Caroline Dubois 6(5KO)-0 no tuvo a penas trabajo para anotarse un triunfo por KOT en el tercer round.
La zurda Dubois impactó izquierdazos, cruzados diestros, uppercuts y hooks abajo contra la tosquísima Mashaury, que fue hostigada hasta que cayó en el segundo round tras un golpe recto. Dado que Dubois no respetaba nada a su oponente y quería lograr un rápido knockout a toda costa, a menudo se precipitó y se expuso en sus ofensivas, por lo que la pelea llegó al tercer asalto. De todos modos, entonces las constantes andanadas de Dubois culminaron en el KOT.

After his wins over Derrick Osaze, River Wilson-Bent and Bradley Rea, English middleweight champion Tyler Denny 16(0KO)-2(1)-3 added the name of another undefeated boxer to his record on Saturday, this being the challenger Brad «The Newquay Bomb» Pauls 16(9KO)-1. Denny won this bout, part of a BOXXER event, by unanimous decision and fair scores: 97-93, 97-93, 98-93.
In the beginning, the southpaw Denny didn’t start as active with his hands as he usually does, and he wasn’t very accurate either, landing some straight hands and hooks down but being clearly hit by jabs and left hooks. However, little by little the beltholder began to connect good straight lefts and overhands with which Paul did not deal too well defensively and which allowed him to get the lead. The challenger did not stop landing some sporadic clear counters, but each time Denny’s pace increased and the difference between the two boxers grew larger.
As Pauls wore down and lost speed and explosiveness, Denny attacked more, but he often lacked order and came in with his head first, so there were a lot of clinches that the champion took advantage of to land short hooks. Apart from this, Denny’s combinations landed dangerously in the second half and, despite Pauls’ efforts, he secured a clear victory on points, which would have been by TKO if he had some punch.
Now Denny has become mandatory challenger for British middleweight champion Denzel Bentley, against whom he could offer an interesting clash if he exploits his qualities in the right way.
Riley defeated Taj
The Denny-Pauls fight was followed by a new victory for unbeaten cruiserweight Viddal Riley 8(5KO)-0, who defeated Anees Taj 7(5KO)-3(1) by fourth-round TKO in his first bout scheduled to eight rounds.
Using his superior hand speed and technique, Riley landed his jab and counter right hands answering the attacks of a brave but predictable Taj. The underdog rocked his opponent with hard hooks in the second round, but thereafter he continued to receive strong, accurate counters from Riley, who severely cut his left eye with one of his right hands. This cut led to the stoppage and gave Riley the win after the doctor checked it in the fourth round.
Dubois scored easy victory
As British lightweight prospect “Sweet” Caroline Dubois 6(5KO)-0 did not face Yamila Abellaneda but the Tanzanian substitute Feriche Mashaury10(3KO)-8(3), she had hardly any work to score a third-round TKO.
The southpaw Dubois landed left hands, right hooks, uppercuts and body shots against the very crude Mashaury, who was attacked until she was dropped in the second round after a straight punch. Since Dubois had no respect for her opponent and wanted to achieve a quick knockout at all costs, she often rushed and exposed herself during her offensives, so the fight reached the third round. Anyway, then Dubois’s constant barrages culminated in the TKO.
