Anthony Joshua respecto a su combate de retorno: “Quiero ofrecer un espectáculo e impresionar a mi entrenador”

Ocho meses después de que fuera derrotado en combate de revancha contra Oleksandr Usyk, el excampeón mundial unificado del peso pesado Anthony Joshua iniciará una nueva etapa de reconstrucción en su carrera con un combate contra el estadounidense Jermaine Franklin. En este duelo “AJ” no sólo buscará retornar a la senda del triunfo, empezar a recuperar la confianza tras sus dos moralmente duras derrotas consecutivas ante Usyk o tantear el apoyo del público tras su mala reacción en los minutos posteriores a su último tropiezo, sino que también comenzará a poner a prueba su evolución con su nuevo entrenador, el estadounidense Derrick James.
Hay que recordar que James, que en su carrera como técnico ha sido nombrado entrenador del año por diversas prestigiosas publicaciones, actualmente es el preparador de boxeadores como el campeón indiscutido superwélter Jermell Charlo y el campeón unificado wélter Errol Spence Jr., por lo que su prestigio es muy notable.
Así, Joshua, que asegura estar listo para su regreso, afirmó que quiere dar una buena imagen ante su nuevo entrenador:
“Estoy deseando volver a entrar al ring el 1 de abril en el O2 Arena en Londres. Me siento preparado mental y físicamente. Quiero ofrecer un espectáculo e impresionar a mi entrenador, ya que tiene altos estándares. Franklin tiene un buen estilo y gran actitud, que ha demostrado en sus peleas recientes. Este será mi primer combate emitido por DAZN en Reino Unido y estará disponible globalmente en la plataforma. Quiero darle las gracias a DAZN por apoyarme a mí y al deporte del boxeo en su conjunto. También quiero darles las gracias al equipo en 258 y a Matchroom Boxing”.
Por su parte, Franklin aseguró que logrará un triunfo antes del límite que le catapultará:
“Quiero mostrarle al mundo por qué es mi momento para ocupar mi lugar en el top de la división del peso pesado. Joshua tuvo su momento. ¡Es mi momento de impresionar al mundo! Esta pelea no va a ir las cartulinas de los jueces. Obtendré la victoria número 22 el 1 de abril. Eso no es una broma de April Fools’ [el equivalente anglosajón del Día de los Inocentes. El April Fools’ Day se celebra el 1 de abril]”.

Eight months after he was defeated in a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, former unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will kick off a new stage trying to rebuild his career with a bout against American Jermaine Franklin. In this matchup, «AJ» will not only seek to return to winning ways, to regain some confidence after his two morally tough consecutive defeats against Usyk or to assess the public’s support after his bad reaction in the minutes after his last setback, but he will also start testing his evolution with his new coach, the American Derrick James.
It must be remembered that James, who in his career as a coach has been named trainer of the year by various prestigious media outlets, is currently the trainer of boxers such as the undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo and the unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr., so his prestige is very remarkable.
Thus, Joshua, who claims to be ready for his return, stated that he wants to give a good image in front of his new coach:
