The reports that affirmed a few weeks ago that Filipino, former world champion, Mark Magsayo would be the substitute for Stephen Fulton in a clash against the aggressive American Brandon Figueroa were not mistaken; they just got the date wrong. These boxers will not fight on February 25, but a week later, on March 4, when they will headline a Premier Boxing Champions evening from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, United States.

This fight will have the interim WBC featherweight title at stake, or what is the same, will make the winner mandatory challenger for the world belt currently held by Rey Vargas, who will fight on February 11 for the vacant WBC super featherweight title against O’Shaquie Foster. It was precisely against Vargas that Magsayo lost his last fight in July, while Figueroa will enter the ring after a successful featherweight debut against Marc Castro in that same event.

As for the support of the Figueroa-Magsayo card, in the co-main event, American, former unified super welterweight champion, Jarrett Hurd will put an end to more than a year and a half of inactivity, since his defeat against Luis Arias, facing in a middleweight bout Mexican José Reséndiz, who will access this biggest fight of his career to date after losing his undefeated record against Marcos Hernández on September 2021.

The main card broadcast by Showtime will begin with another middleweight duel, in this case between two undefeated boxers with a good punch like Uruguayan Amilcar Vidal and the very young American Elijah García. Its is possible that in the future the winner could face whoever comes out with his hand raised in the co-feature bout.
