“Estoy ansioso y bien preparado.

March 4 has been chosen by Matchroom Boxing as the date to organize a new evening from Mexico, this time from the Palenque de Culiacán. The boxer who will battle in the main event will be the Mexican Ángel Fierro, WBO number 5 at lightweight, and Uruguayan Eduardo Estela, this being a more interesting clash than it might seem on paper. Although he is not well known by the general public, Estela has just scored an important upset victory in the United States over the undefeated prospect with good punch Rubén «Ace» Torres.

As for the confirmed support, Mexican super featherweight puncher Eduardo Núñez will seek to maintain his 100% knockout ratio, and show his potential to Eddie Hearn, facing his compatriot Rodolfo Bustamente, while Mexican Olympian Misael Rodríguez will try to get his first win of 2023 in a middleweight clash against Rafael Amarillas Ortiz.

In addition to showing his enthusiasm, Fierro expressed his willingness to make a statement:

“I am very happy to fight again in Mexico with my people. I am going to show them that I am ready for a World title, I am preparing for that, and I am excited to return to the ring on March 4.”

Estela considers this a golden opportunity to break into the top of the lightweight division:

“March 4 is my time to shine. I’m coming off the biggest victory of my life and I’m ready to deliver another spectacular performance. A win over Fierro puts me right in line amongst the top tier of the 135lb division and there is no way he’s going to stop me from achieving that. I know that I am coming into hostile territory, but it’s only going to motivate me more. Fierro better be ready because I’m bringing everything I have.”

The quotes by Núñez and Bustamente were much shorter. The former said:

“I’m anxious and we’ll prepared,” said Nunez. “I have been working very hard with my team and I’m just waiting for March 4 to arrive.”

For his part, the latter stated:

“I am very happy for this opportunity,” said Bustamante. “I’m going to train really hard, I and won’t let my people from Culiacán down – I’m coming with everything I got.”

As for Misael Rodríguez, he said:

“I feel happy and excited to fight in this great Matchroom card. It’s great to be fighting in Culiacan, a place I fought twice before and a place where people know boxing and have made me feel right at home.”
