Aunque Eddie Hearn y Matchroom Boxing están intentando quitar importancia al asunto, el hecho es que Conor Benn, que en sus últimos combates ha experimentado un drástico aumento en su pegada, ha dado positivo en control antidopaje por clomifeno, sustancia prohibida por VADA y WADA dentro y fuera de competición. Según Matchroom esta sustancia sólo es un medicamento para la fertilidad, pero está científicamente probado que se puede utilizar para aumentar los índices de testosterona.
Por el momento, el BBBofC ha emitido un comunicado en el que señala que prohibe que la pelea se dispute, pero Matchroom está intentando por todos los medios evitar la suspensión y, de hecho, afirma que el combate se desarrollará el sábado, ya que incluso Chris Eubank Jr. está dispuesto a seguir adelante con la pelea.
