Como Jaime Munguía no se quiso enfrentar a Janibek Alimkhanuly por el título interino WBO del peso medio (que este último terminó capturando ante Danny Dignum) y Demetrius Andrade no quiso defender su cinturón mundial absoluto contra este mismo púgil, “Qazaq Style” terminó convirtiéndose en el monarca de pleno derecho de la Organización en las 160 lb (72,6 kg).
Así, con su corona recién recibida, Alimkhanuly tiene ya fecha, sede y rival para su primera defensa voluntaria como monarca, que se producirá el 12 de noviembre, en el Palms Casino Resort de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, ante el campeón de Reino Unido del peso medio Denzel Bentley. Este combate con alicientes será respaldado además por el debut con Top Rank de la top 10 libra por libra Seniesa Estrada, que expondrá su cinturón mundial WBA del peso mínimo ante la argentina Jazmín Gala Villarino.
Estos dos enfrentamientos serán respaldados por nuevos combates, ante adversarios por confirmar, para Raymond Muratalla, Antonio Mireles, Lindolfo Delgado, Karlos Balderas, Javier Martínez y Charlie Sheehy, siendo todo ello emitido en Estados Unidos por ESPN+.
En la confirmación Alimkhanuly destacó que su próximo retador tiene el mérito de, a diferencia de otros, haber querido enfrentarse a él:
“Le doy crédito a Denzel Bentley por aceptar el reto cuando tantos boxeadores han salido corriendo en la otra dirección. Es un gran honor defender mi título mundial en Las Vegas en el Palms, y le mostraré al mundo una vez más en que consiste el “Qazaq Style”.
Además de que el campeonato le dará la oportunidad de realizar un viaje interesante, Bentley cree en sus opciones de triunfo:
“Será una buena y emocionante pelea, y pienso que es un combate que puedo ganar. Así que, ¿por qué no ir allí y disfrutar del teatro de Las Vegas y volver con un cinturón mundial? Genuinamente creo que puedo derrotarle y que es derrotable. Todo el mundo dice que da miedo, pero yo no lo veo. A lo mejor estoy pasando por alto algo. Lo descubriremos cuando entremos al ring.”
Por su parte, Estrada esbozó sus ambiciosos planes, que se iniciarán con esta primera pelea con una nueva promotora:
“Este es un momento apasionante para el boxeo femenino, y estoy emocionada por hacer mi debut con Top Rank en ESPN en Las Vegas contra una digna retadora como Villarino. Estoy entrando en el mejor momento de mi carrera y apunto a unificar los campeonatos en tres divisiones de peso. El nuevo capítulo de mi carrera comienza el 12 de noviembre, y no puedo esperar para entrar en el ring”.
Su oponente Villarino se mostró confiada en dar la sorpresa:
“Esta es una oportunidad que he estado esperado, pelear por un título mundial contra otra guerrera como yo como Seniesa Estrada. Estoy agradecida a Top Rank por la oportunidad, y voy a Las Vegas para conmocionar al mundo del boxeo. El 12 de noviembre, una nueva campeona será coronada”.
También dejaron declaraciones los promotores Bob Arum y Frank Warren, señalando el primero:
“Janibek es el mejor peso medio del mundo, y este combate será el comienzo de un largo y exitoso reinado como campeón. Estoy emocionado por ver a Seniesa Estrada hacer su debut con Top Rank. Ella es una boxeadora excepcionalmente talentosa y está lista para ser una superestrella del deporte en los años que vendrán”.
Finalmente, Warren afirmó:
“Denzel Bentley se está apoyando a sí mismo y cree completamente que tiene lo que hace falta para ganar el campeonato mundial WBO del peso medio de un campeón formidable como Janibek Alimkhanuly. As Jaime Munguía did not want to face Janibek Alimkhanuly for the interim WBO middleweight title (which the latter ended up capturing against Danny Dignum) and Demetrius Andrade did not want to defend his world belt against this mandatory challenger, “Qazaq Style” ended up becoming the Organization’s full-fledged monarch at 160 lb (72.6 kg).
With his newly received crown, Alimkhanuly already has a date, venue and opponent for his first voluntary defense, which will take place on November 12, at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, United States, against British middleweight champion Denzel Bentley. This interesting fight will be supported by the debut with Top Rank of a top 10 pound for pound in women’s boxing like Seniesa Estrada, who will defend her WBA world minimumweight title against the Argentinian Jazmín Gala Villarino.
These two bouts will be supported by new fights, against opponents to be confirmed, for Raymond Muratalla, Antonio Mireles, Lindolfo Delgado, Karlos Balderas, Javier Martínez and Charlie Sheehy, all of which will be broadcast in the United States by ESPN+ and Sky on United Kingdom.
In the confirmation, Alimkhanuly highlighted that his next challenger has the merit of, unlike others, wanting to face him:
“I give Denzel Bentley credit for accepting the challenge when so many fighters ran the other way. It is a great honor to defend my world title in Las Vegas at The Palms, and I will once again show the world what ‘Qazaq Style’ is about.”
In addition to the fact that the championship will give him the opportunity to take an interesting journey, Bentley believes in his chances of victory:
“It will be a good and exciting fight, and I think it is a fight I can win. So why not go out there and enjoy the theatrics of Las Vegas and come back with a world title? I genuinely believe I can beat him, and he is beatable. Everybody says he is scary, but I don’t see it. Maybe I am missing something. We will find out when we get in the ring.”
For her part, Estrada outlined her ambitious plans, which will begin with this first fight with a new promoter:
“This is an exciting time for women’s boxing, and I am thrilled to be making my Top Rank on ESPN debut in Las Vegas against a worthy challenger in Villarino. I am entering the prime of my career and looking forward to unifying the championships in three weight classes. Her opponent Villarino is confident of achieving an upset victory:
“This is the opportunity I have been waiting for, to fight for a world title against a fellow warrior like Seniesa Estrada. I am thankful to Top Rank for the opportunity, and I am coming to Las Vegas to shock the boxing world. On November 12, a new champion will be crowned.”
Promoters Bob Arum and Frank Warren also offered statements. The former said:
“Janibek is the top middleweight in the world, and this fight will be the start of a long and accomplished championship reign,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “I am thrilled to see Seniesa Estrada make her Top Rank debut. She is an exceptionally talented fighter and is poised to be a superstar in the sport for years to come.”
Finally, Warren stated:
“Denzel Bentley is backing himself and completely believes he has got what it takes to win the WBO world middleweight championship from a formidable champion in Janibek Alimkhanuly. It is a golden opportunity for Denzel to step up from being a respected British champion to starring on the world stage in Las Vegas.”
