Puede que sobre el papel la estadounidense Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz 12(6KO)-0-1 afrontase ante la mexicana Sonia Osorio 15(4KO)-8-2 un enfrentamiento más exigente que Valle ante Nguyen. Sin embargo, en el choque coestelar de la velada de Golden Boy Promotions de la pasada noche, Ruiz obtuvo un triunfo unánime casi tan amplio como el de Valle, siendo las cartulinas de 100-90, 99-91 y 98-92.
Desde el comienzo quedó claro que Ruiz era mucho más precisa y estaba más afilada, conectando buenos directos diestros y cruzados zurdos contra Osorio, cuya respuesta estaba peor ejecutada y tenía mucha menos efectividad. Tratando de compensarlo, Osorio salteadamente intentó cargar al ataque pero eso, más allá de llevar a situaciones cercanas al choque de cabezas, no le sirvió de mucho, ya que erró la mayoría de sus manos y fue detenida por el jab y los contragolpes de “La Cobra”.
Una vez que los ataques de la mexicana fallaban, el combate volvía a ser en gran medida táctico hasta que Ruiz pasaba a probar con sus golpes de poder, ante los que Osorio intentó esquivar desplazándose pero sin lograr evitar ser alcanzada por algunos de ellos. En definitiva, Ruiz estableció un control de las acciones tanto llevando la iniciativa como simplemente controlando el centro del ring que le permitió capturar asaltos de forma constante y, poco después de la mitad, asegurarse el triunfo a los puntos.
Sabiendo que el combate se le estaba escapando o lo había perdido, Osorio realizó algunas ofensivas más decididas y profundas, pero sus aciertos siguieron siendo muy escasos incluso cuando logró llevar hasta las cuerdas a Ruiz, que no permaneció encerrada por mucho tiempo y que pronto hizo valer de nuevo su gancho zurdo, su jab y su derecha recta.
En teoría, en virtud del título WBC interino del peso supermosca, Ruiz es aspirante obligatoria de la campeona Lourdes Juárez, pero si su promotora no presiona con fuerza y ofrece mucho dinero por la pugna el Consejo no necesariamente va a mover un dedo para ordenar el combate a corto o medio plazo. Por otro lado, teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de veredictos cuestionables favorables que ha tenido Juárez en su carrera, el equipo de Ruiz necesitará asegurarse la ventaja de campo, dado que, de lo contrario, pueden dar por hecho cartulinas, como mínimo, ajustadas pase lo que pase sobre el ring.
“Superman” García ganó con KOT
Antes del semifondo del evento, el peso superligero mexicano José Manuel “Superman” García 16(15KO)-1-1 mostró una vez más su pegada terminando en el segundo round con el nicaragüense Israel “El Destructor” López 9(7KO)-3(1).
Con un minuto transcurrido, García ya había sacudido a su zurdo adversario con un gancho, algo que hizo despertar un tanto a López, que entonces intentó contestar en corta con sus curvos. De todos modos, García conectó duros hooks, especialmente al cuerpo, que hicieron evidente su ventaja en potencia antes de que en el segundo asalto López cayese por un cruzado diestro al rostro. En la reanudación López intentó intercambiar con su rival en corta, pero primero fue estremecido y posteriormente fue derribado por un cruzado zurdo, poniéndose de pie con dificultad y siendo entonces golpeado hasta el KOT.

Perhaps on paper the American Adelaida “La Cobra” Ruiz 12(6KO)-0-1 was facing a more demanding clash against Mexican Sonia Osorio 15(4KO)-8-2 than Valle against Nguyen. However, in last night’s Golden Boy Promotions co-main event, Ruiz scored a unanimous decision victory almost as wide as Valle, with the scorecards being 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92.
From the start it was clear that Ruiz was much more precise and sharper, landing good right hands and lead hooks against Osorio, whose response was far less effective. Trying to make up for it, Osorio sporadically charged, but that, beyond leading to situations near the clash of heads, didn’t do her much good, as she missed most of her hands and was neutralized by the jab and the counterpunches from «The Cobra».
Once the offensives from the Mexican failed, the fight was again largely tactical until Ruiz tried to connect her power punches, which Osorio tried to dodge by moving but without being able to avoid being hit by some. In short, Ruiz established a control of the actions both taking the initiative or simply controlling the center of the ring that allowed her to win rounds consistently and, shortly after the half point, secure victory on the scorecards.
Knowing that she was losing the fight or that she had already lost it, Osorio made some more determined and deep offensives, but her successes again were very few, even when she managed to take Ruiz to the ropes, since the American did not remain cornered for long and soon imposed again her left hook, her jab and her straight right hand.
In theory, owning the interim WBC super flyweight title, Ruiz is mandatory challenger for the champion Lourdes Juárez, but if her promoter does not push hard or offers a lot of money for the bout, the Council is not necessarily going to move a finger to order the fight in the short or medium term. On the other hand, given the number of questionable favorable verdicts Juarez has had in her career, Ruiz’s team will need to secure home-field advantage, since otherwise they can take for granted that the scorecards, at the very least, will be very close whatever happens in the ring.
«Superman» Garcia won with TKO
Before the co-feature of the event, Mexican super lightweight José Manuel “Superman” García 16(15KO)-1-1 once again showed his punch getting rid of the Nicaraguan Israel “El Destructor” López 9(7KO)-3(1) in the second round.
With a minute elapsed, García had already rocked his southpaw opponent with a hook, something that woke up López, who then tried to answer at close range with his hooks. Still, Garcia landed hard hands, especially to the body, that made evident his power advantage before Lopez was knocked down by a right hook to the face in the second round. At the restart, Lopez tried to exchange with his rival, but he was first staggered and later dropped by a left hook. López had difficultes standing up and was beaten till the referee stoppage.
