Lomachenko emplazado a regreso en octubre contra Jamaine Ortiz

Durante 2021 el ucraniano Vasyl Lomachenko 16(11KO)-2 comenzó una campaña para dejar atrás su derrota ante Teófimo López, logrando victorias convincentes ante Masayoshi Nakatani y Richard Commey. Sin embargo, el estallido de la guerra en su país llevó a que sus intentos para acercarse a una nueva pelea titular quedasen detenidos en lo que llevamos de 2022.
En principio, esta pausa en su trayectoria boxística está emplazada a finalizar de manera definitiva, puesto que Lomachenko ha viajado ya a Estados Unidos para empezar a preparar su próximo combate. Según informa Mike Coppinger, este se producirá a finales de octubre y contra el invicto estadounidense Jamaine Ortiz 16(8KO)-0-1, con quien ya se ha alcanzado un acuerdo para el enfrentamiento.
Recordemos que el joven Ortiz logró en su última subida al cuadrilátero su mayor victoria llevando al retiro al excampeón mundial Jamel Herring, mientras que anteriormente venció a un Nahir Albright con cualidades y en buena racha. Así, aunque quizás muchos no conozcan a Ortiz, este boxeador muy motivado y con aspiraciones no es un rival sencillo para regresar tras diez meses de inactividad, si bien Lomachenko lógicamente será claro favorito para imponerse.
En caso de triunfo, se rumorea que Top Rank podría buscar pactar posteriormente un combate entre el campeón indiscutido del peso ligero Devin Haney y Lomachenko, siendo una opción alternativa un cruce entre “Loma” y Shakur Stevenson, aunque de momento esto sólo está en la orbita de la especulación y, antes de nada, primero habrá que esperar a que se anuncie oficialmente la pelea del ucraniano para octubre.

In principle, this pause in his boxing career is set to end definitively, since Lomachenko has already traveled to the United States to start preparing for his next bout. According to Mike Coppinger, this will take place at the end of October and against the undefeated American Jamaine Ortiz 16(8KO)-0-1, with whom he has reached an agreement for the duel.
In his most recent fight, the young Ortiz achieved his greatest victory sending to retirement former world champion Jamel Herring, while previously he beat a boxer with qualities and in a good streak as Nahir Albright. Thus, despite many may not know Ortiz, this highly motivated boxer is not an easy opponent to return after ten months of inactivity, although Lomachenko will logically be the clear favorite to win.
