Shakur Stevenson combatirá contra el oro olímpico Robson Conceição en velada de Top Rank/ESPN

Después de unificar los cinturones mundiales WBC y WBO del peso superpluma en un combate en abril contra Óscar Valdez, el estadounidense Shakur Stevenson tiene ya nueva fecha para su próxima defensa. Esta llegará el día 23 de septiembre, cuando encabezará un evento de Top Rank desde el Prudential Center de Newark, Estados Unidos, cuyos dos combates principales serán televisados simultáneamente por ESPN, ESPN Deportes y ESPN+.
Su oponente será uno que también debería tener en su récord una victoria sobre Óscar Valdez, dado que se medirá al oro olímpico brasileño Robson Conceição, quien perdió contra el citado púgil mexicano por controvertida decisión en septiembre del pasado año. Tras este encuentro, Conceição volvió a la senda de la victoria derrotando a Xavier Martínez en una eliminatoria.
En cuanto al otro choque que compondrá la cartelera principal, este será el sexto combate profesional del peso ligero, plata olímpico, Keyshawn Davis, si bien su oponente está pendiente de confirmación.
En el anuncio oficial, Stevenson, que no pelea en su ciudad desde julio de 2019, señaló:
“Vuelvo a casa, a Newark, y regreso como campeón unificado. Siempre he representado orgulloso a Newark, y estoy listo para combatir frente a los fans de mi ciudad en el Prudential Center el 23 de septiembre. Robson Conceição le dio a Óscar Váldez una pelea dura. Mucha gente siente que ganó, pero veremos cómo de bueno es cuando pelee contra mí”.
Respecto a Conceição, éste afirmo:
“Shakur Stevenson es un atleta excelente y tiene mi respeto por todo lo que ha logrado. Nuestros caminos se están cruzando, y sólo habrá un campeón. Garantizo la mejor actuación de mi vida. Será el combate del año y un gran espectáculo para la audiencia y mis fans brasileños, ¡los que nunca se rinden!”

After unifying the WBC and WBO world super featherweight belts in April against Óscar Valdez, the American Shakur Stevenson has now a date for his next defense. This fight will be on September 23, when he will headline a Top Rank event from the Prudential Center in Newark, United States, whose two main matches will be televised simultaneously on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+.
His opponent will be one who should also have a victory over Óscar Valdez on his record, since Stevenson will face Brazilian Olympic gold medalist Robson Conceição, who lost to the aforementioned Mexican boxer by controversial decision in September of last year. After this match, Conceição returned to the winning ways with a victory over Xavier Martínez in a WBC eliminator.
As for the other clash that will be part of the main card, this will be the sixth professional fight for lightweight, Olympic silver medalist, Keyshawn Davis, although his opponent is pending confirmation.
In the official announcement, Stevenson, who has not fought in his city since July 2019, stated:

Robson Conceicao gave Oscar Valdez a tough fight. A lot of people felt like he won, but we’ll see how good he really is when he fights me.”
Regarding Conceição, he said:
“Shakur Stevenson is an excellent athlete and has my respect for everything he has accomplished. Our paths are crossing, and there will only be one champion. I guarantee the best performance of my life. It will be the fight of the year and a great show for the audience and my Brazilian fans, the ones that never give up!»
